Is Digimon Stories: Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition Worth It??? 【Dr's Review】 

Are we still in the day of age when we need to explain that Digimon is different than Pokemon and not a ripoff...

I’m just going around RU-vid and watching reviews of games on my Wish List to see if I should buy them

I won't mind if they made animated series based on Cyber Sleuth Universe it would be very cool.

Tip on switch their is standby mode witch means you can let ur game run while switch is off so ur digimon gain levels in the farm stay in the game don’t hit the home button let the game run and hit the power off button

Actually Digimon is a spin off on Tamagochi to sell the LCD games to boys. Both Pokemon and Digimon have similarities and both have borrowed off each other in the past. Sure someone can say Digimon is a "rip off" on Pokemon but if that's the case than hopefully you can accept the fact that Pokemon is a rip off on Shin Megami Tensei. It makes me depressed how Digimon didn't succeed in the west.....

I'm so happy and enjoying Cyber Sleuth a lot right now, cause I was a big fan of those type of Digimon games since Digimon World Data Squad for the PS2 but I never owned a PS3 or a PS4. So far I haven't tried Hacker's Memory but I am absolutely loving the first one

really nice review man, I think you already made an excelent, easy to understand explanation of the evolution mechanic to non-digimon fans. as the others say, digimon started off as tamagotchi's spin off, they share same staffs involved, the "Aki", "Yo" and "Hongo" in Akiyoshi Hongo (listed as digimon creator) are pseudoname of actually 3 representatives & creators of Tamagotchi, Aki Maita, Akihiro Yokoi and Takeichi Hongo. The "shi" refers to Hiroshi Izawa as the manga director. The same staffs are working for digimon as well. man, with internet being already accessible for most of the world, people still accuse it as pokemon rip off, it's our job to educate them, lol

Got this in the Eshop on sale for $30 during the current Self-Isolation/Quarantine Coronavirus crisis. A 100+ hour time commitment is not only doable but a lifesaver with regards to boredom. I'm so happy!

I got this game for 35.00 for a physical version. Soo Ya I would say I’m a pretty satisfied overall.

love these games. I do wish we could skip dialogue though. 1/3 of my time in the game is just mashing A to skip filler dialogue

Really nice video. I just bought this game after finishing this video. Digimon is a lot more complex when it comes to the evolution part of the game. It might be targeting a more mature audience than pokemon. It definitely isn't as easy as pokemon for that.

I’ve been so used to digimon dusk and dawn gameplay when I started playing this new switch game I wasn’t too used to the fact they cut a lot of digimon’s earlier stages compared to the older games. I think my only complaint for it is just that it’s disappointing there isn’t anymore different in-training digimon to match the rookies. But I understand why they had to do it, to put more newer digimons and Mega’s for the game.

I am a day 1 Pokémon & Digimon Fan. Digimon has always stuck with me because of its maturity compared to Pokémon. Digimon always had better the anime & home console games than Pokémon until Colosseum & Gale Of Darkness XD was released on GameCube. Yes Pokémon has had the best handheld games since sliced bread. To me Pokémon games are more simplistic, gets to the point quickly & has been more easily handheldy & child friendly since X&Y on 3DS 2013 & also they’ve been focusing more on competition since that time as well compared to Digimon games which have always had a certain level of difficultly & complicity, I never played a Digimon that was a complete cakewalk from start to finish, Digimon does have an overload of content & side quests in each game where you may will get tired & wish the story would just pick up quickly (when it does, its amazing). It all depends on you the player and your play style But for the comparison for the titles that hit the switch in fall 2019. I feel for the longevity route and game & dollar appreciation Digimon CSCED beats Pokémon SWSH. Here’s Why.... My expectations aren’t high for Pokémon anymore, especially after X & Y that was the easiest & shortest Pokémon game I’ve ever played. They’re monopolizing their fan base because they know that are in the top 3 of cash cows for the gaming industry and that the mass majority of their fan base will buy anything with their name on it. Even though Pokémon SWSH were good games to me they still felt like a slap in the face due to the amount of content they took out, the excuses they gave for it, & to put the icing on the cake They’re charging $30 for a short expansion pass post game content and 200+ Pokémon that should’ve already been in the game. I do understand that Digimon CSCED is a port from PS3 or PS4 (I’m confident its PS4 though) but It is two totally different 50+hr games on 1 game cartridge with three save files and Both Cyber Sleuth & Hackers Memory can be saved on the same saved file and transferred between the two games on “1 SAVE FILE” with online play For $50-$60 compared to Pokémon SWSH 1 save file, tons of content cut out, but for still not all 100% of the content Pokémon wants you to pay $60 just for one game & pay an extra $30 for the content they cut, also add in the factor get the full SWSH experience you have pay $20 per yr (which isn’t too bad) for online service to excel in the raid battles & regular online battles if you don’t have friends to play locally with. But they are still two of the best childhood franchises for a lot of us and they will always make us feel like a kid again.

Based on what friends have told me, and based on your word, I have decided to buy this game. Turn-based RPG's bore the hell out of me, but if it has a solid story and interesting mechanics, I can probably have fun with it.

First time here, this was a great review, really liked how you broke down the games elements and provided context, despite you showing your enthusiam from Digimon, I felt like the review itself wasn't biased! I haven't played a digimon game since Digimon World DS, since I never got into Playstation or had access to some of the region locked games. Really glad you mentioned the Aussie price, haven't seen aussie price in reveiws in a while and always have to check the price afterwards. If I hadn't just baught Pokemon Sword, I'd buy Digimon from this review (Ive always liked Digimon more) just hadn't really heard of this or was sure what it was like after seeing some Japense trailer on the Switch. Will eventually get Digimon, sold on this review!

Now I didn’t kno a Digimon could evolve 6 times, and they could De-digivolve to pre evolution, 🤯 🔥 that’s cool, man have I been away from this franchise for so long, the only thing I remember is Greymon, as a kid when I first saw the series I wanted Pokémon and Digimon to crossover, I still ship that idea till this day even though they probably won’t, and great analysis of the game, I’ll definitely look more into it

6:40 Important to point out: Inheritance skils are a thing, you may have an Agumon, and you may want Wargreymon so you would go to Greymon and then so on. But the there's a support skill called "Acceleration Boost" which doubles the damage of your next attack, I believe Wargreymon Learns this. But Tyrannomon (which is one of the weaker paths that Agumon can evolve instead of Greymon" Learns it, having that Support skill much MUCH earlier in the game than waiting to get Wargreymon. and even if you go back devolve into agumon and go Greymon Later, you can still keep Acceleration Boost, and these rules applies to all Inheritance skills including attacks like that one that lets you give the "Bug" Status which changes Type weaknesses and strength.

Digimon anime (especially 1st one: Digimon Adventure) blows Pokemon out of the water. Rewatched it a gazillion times. Gameplay wise I love both Pokemon and Digimon equally and if a person has followed anime and games of these series, they can never say that Digimon is a clone game.

One thing you forgot to mention about the evolution and un evolving and why you would do it is let's say you need a fire skill on your earth type Digimon, you can find a fire type it can evolove or de evolove into get it to say level 20 when a fire skill unlock and then evolove it back to what it was, now when you hit level 20 again you will learn that level 20 fire skill even though you are no longer that Digimon, you can learn up to 20 skills in this way before you have to forget skills to learn more so depending on the evolution tree it is possible to get all 8 different element types split between the 4 different rock paper scissors neutral "types of programs"

These games are well with the price I first played them when they first came out on ps4 and spent 200+ hours with the games and I love being able to use any digimon I want to use cuz you don’t have a set of what digimon can and can’t do in the game

The Complete Edition is pretty cheap here in India, on Steam, around $22 USD or so. Even moreso if one can snag it during the Black Friday sale. I haven't got much in the way of time to play the game, but I've already sunk around 6 hours or so of playtime into Cyber Sleuth. PRO TIP: Disable supersampling to 4K while playing the Steam edition via Steam Link. You can LITERALLY play it while sitting outside in the sun, on your phone, by using Steam Link. A bit of latency, but great nonetheless. Doesn't apply if you already have a Switch/Switch Lite. In that case you're already a pro gamer in my book :)

I just spent 30 for it. Quite a steal

I've been a hardcore Pokémon fan since I was a kid, always got every game after Diamond/Pearl on release day (until Sword/Shield, which I refuse to buy) and have sunk thousands of dollars into plushies and other merchandise over the years. But Gamefreak has been consistently disappointing me since OmegaRuby/AlphaSapphire, and after the latest disaster with Sword/Shield I can't see myself being a huge Pokémon fan anymore. So I'm glad that these games exist to fulfill my monster-catching. I'm definitely getting these games over Pokémon Sword/Shield. Maybe they'll turn me into a huge Digimon fan.

Bit correction about digimon origin, its actually started as tamagochi boy version not a manga. And being tamagochi its concept is rather different then pokemon. To be fair 1st digimon world and pokemon game almost have no similarity.

I don’t really like RPG’s because I tend to just grind and become OP instead of using strategy (Pokémon). But I’m a Digimon super fan. This will be my first real RPG. I want to take my time with it and really learn Digimon abilities. My favorite Digimon is Tentomon.

I honestly, want a new monster rancher(monster farm) game. id sell monster specific amiibos, in the form of disc chips in random booster packs. would be the shit. digimon was the less involved version of monster rancher. please bring back Monster rancher! The breeding that pokemon is just now nearly 20 years later just starting to scratch.

I’m a fan of them all I’m not going to be the typical person who fights over what’s better because they both have different things they offer and they do then well. I’m also a fan of yugioh and Monster Rancher.

I’m a Pokémon fan, i never watched the Digimon anime and i really enjoyed the first Cyber Sleuth game, for me is one of the best “Pokémon” games, it was an amazing experience, i would love to see new Cyber Sleuth games in the future (i’m about to start Hackers Memory)

I enjoyed Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory however, I feel there are things they could work on to make the next games better. 1. Like Pokemon take us to other countries outside of Japan. I'd love to see not only US but Australia and Egypt and so much more. 2. To make the game more mature forgo the swearing and show that there are consequence for disputable actions. (I.e in Hackers Memory Ryuji should have been arrested or taken to a mental hospital but instead thanks to the world reset he got off the hook.) Show teens and adults that there are consequences for these things. More thoughts from other folks here that brought up some good points: @t 3. English/Spanish and other language dubbing. 4. More Digimon only 340 were in both Cyber Sleuth games for the Nintendo Switch version. If they can't put in all the Digimon they should have put at least halve in there I hear there's over 1000 or so. So not even 500 is disappointing. 5. More clothing options. Thought it was dumb to not have the Cyber Sleuth OC not able to were a Jacket like the character in Hackers Memory. 6. Copy and past dungeons and not enough background detail for the server dungeons. Kalwoon looked like it was ripped right out of Disneys Tron series as well so much blue. I'd give this game 8/10 would recommend some things of course need work.

I went here because I really wanted to know if the Switch version was alright and had the two complete versions of both games. I wanted to make sure that they had not cut content for the sake of making this a bundle, or something like that. Or having the performance/graphics completely butchered. Glad to know that its okay to buy since I don´t have a PS4 and really wanted to play this. So thanks to this i am adding this to my wishlist and hopefully getting it soon.

It is a good game for Digimon fans, probably the best Digimon game to ever release. It does have problems though which is why I can't recommend it to everyone... Such as.. 1. The dungeons feel very copy and paste, plus you go through the same dungeons multiple times. 2. Battles on normal are too easy, and battles on hard are just fights drawn out way too long. 3. Translation job is really bad, probably the worst I have ever experienced in a video game. There are typos all over the place and responses that don't make sense. It feels like most of the budget in this game went to the Digimon attack animations. 4. Story takes a very long time to pick up. Nothing starts getting good until chapter 10ish or longer I think. Even then, the story turns from bad to passable. 5. Battles feel like a poor man's version of Shin megami tensei. 6. Subjective, but most of the music in this game is mediocre. The only music from this game I like is the boss music. Those are my gripes. For a Digimon fan or those who have grown up with the franchise, I feel like this game would get an 8.5 out of 10. For other people, probably a 7.
