Digital and information technology is in principle democratic and has democratised media exponentially. This is a wonderful development of our age.

It certainly broadens the intellectual input on issues under debate as some people can be intimidated in front of the cameras.

If a ad on social media is opposed to the content then that's a algorithm issue NOT a regulation problem. For ex: youtube put a cruise ship ad under a documentary on how cruiseline have hidden the rash of murders/disappearances/sex crimes on their ships. This ISN'T what ANYONE wants not me, the cruiselines, or social media, as the whole selling pt is getting the right ads to the right ppl, so it's MORE effective, LESS expensive and will annoy the user FAR less and remember IF they mismatch ads they risk users leaving the page, video and even going elsewhere as I actually was on FB when it was first invented, as it was originally for university campuses to help with group assignments. Thus I'm also one of the first wave to LEAVE FB, bc of the constant ads, and their shady treatment of my timeline, data, and their specifically using their power to see if they could make ppl feel BAD or GOOD as that's what we use to decide things. Thus if they could pair a message they don't want us to like, they just eliminate positive posts of OTHERS not the message itself to make me FEEL pessimistic. This works great to STOP ppl from voting and it doesn't do anything but sort the data and show negative friend posts NOT actually changing and showing negative political posts/news. They also used FB to figure out which messages ppl responded and who and where they lived, and even tried them out LONG b4 Trump ran. Thus social media gives those seeking to manipulate us to gain power amazing ability to spit back to us what we WANT to hear and thus are biased towards believing it so we'll do what they want. Hence atm social media no longer makes most it's money from ads BUT from selling your data to wonderful little organizations like the US gov, CIA, FBI, local cities, and even FOREIGN countries as they can easily buy data and route it through offshore corps to HIDE who even bought it. (unless in EU as theirs is protected, in America it's not even considered OURS even though we wrote it, refined it, and do ALL the work))

The Internet is alright, but "digital media or social media" should not be used the way it is used Today. The Internet's main purpose or function was to be a Sharing Tool, not a Communication tool. We shouldn't be allowed to post our own Personal messages or comments. Our biggest mistake with the Internet is that we are allowed to share our own Personal Opinions on the 'Internet/Digital Media or Social Media'. Freedom of Speech is done with our own words, our own spoken words...not thru posting words. Social Media is a Failure and is posing to our Societies well being.

The problem is information/opinions which makes us ANGRY, are going to explode. Thus the MORE extreme and opinionated the more viral it goes. Furthermore jerrymandering and other tricks to make districts MOSTLY non competitive means they're best bet to is to use ppl's fears, biases and anger against them as ppl who are emotional REFUSE to listen to the other side OR even see their pt. Thus it's beneficial for politicians to MAKE ppl angry and fearful as that insures they ONLY read/listen to THEM. Hence atm in America we have two media outlets CNN and FOX which if you watch only one you'd believe all their lies, and since the other side is "fake news" (btw the ONLY ppl who call stuff "fake news" are also the ppl who will defend the right to create "fake news" not the other way around as this is a obvious ploy to make ppl NOT trust other sources and thus rely on tribalism, and your upbringing and number #1 what OTHERS think, thus social media links the two to insure you TRUST sources which are baseless, total conspiracy theory BS as we're prone to conspiracy already especially in the US. Since this way of thinking is VERY common in religious groups as they already focus on emotions NOT facts and also are VERY easy to convince to be fearful as well as the fact that they'll put someone else's opinion ahead of their own.
