Is FFXIV's PVP Doomed To Fail? 

Oh yeah I focus on pvp because that's what he used them in mainly but also because I think the pvp community suffers the most (well that and marketboard crafters) from the negative effects of cheating.

We actually don't know if he'll be back- it should be important to know that 10 day bans also have info talking about them being escalated as the investigation pends in that time. So it could just be made into a full ban. That said, glad someone is trying to shed a light on this

When it comes to a community section like pvp, How cheating and win traders are handled is fundamentally different to how hardcore raiders deal with there own cheaters. We've all known about paid legends, plugins, cactpot, etc. They're made fun of constantly, and while the pvp community does this as well- the sentiment is a whole lot more toxic and pessimistic because pvp cheating effects way more peoples enjoyment of the mode fundamentally. If i paid for my legend title, I've cheated no one but myself- but if i cheat in pvp, I cheat OTHERS from their hard earned effort. I don't think this cheating problem is a soul issue and ailment of pvp. but the game as a whole.

2 things I would like to speak on. Hacking and boosting in rank. It's easier to get rid of a hacker from Crystal Conflict than it is frontlines. People are more serious in CC ranked while pvp is more laid back everywhere else. As long as casual pvp continues to get more people that either plays for second or outright just wants the experience points for their dailies hacking in frontlines isn't going to be a big issue. As I speak premades are more of an issue on the forums than hacking. As for boosting there are already multiple ways you can boost, one of them involving just playing on only one favorable map and climbing then. The truth of the matter is that in these ranked games it's extremely easy to run into the same people over and over again no matter the rank. Personally, I think this is the result of making it easy to obtain platinum. I would make it so that you can demote all the way to bronze. That will bring the playerbase to a silver level. However, that will solve the problem with running into the same players over and over again making the low players queue times nearly instant and making the top level player's queue times longer. No, this won't entirely solve the problem. However, if the top players care about their rank they'll make use of the report button.

It's kind of wild honestly but fwiw I think a lot of people quit other PVP games because of cheating too.

Yeah I could see something like that. I will say I do try to be careful when I see SAMs rushing in but I will still die to them sometimes

Honestly you bring up a good point about reward driven content. When you don't have to win to level the series pass, it'll make it more likely to have players in the mode that don't care.

The problem isn't whether you need to win or not, it's that there are rewards exclusive to it, that you can't get elsewhere. People who like to collect mounts, minions, frames, etc. are literally forced into joining that, even if they don't care at all. Making it so you could only level with a win wouldn't make me put more effort, it would just make me queue that many more times until I got the necessary leech-to-win eventually. The only way to get rid of players in the same situation as me is for the rewards to be achievable elsewhere. Or for there to be a toggle that blocks me from pvp permanently (so it isn't cheesed by those who want to do it) and lets me have all the rewards - which isn't going to happen, of course.

Following your logic there should also be "Disable Ultimates/Eureka/Bozja/Relics/Savage/Extremes/Dungeons/Blue Mage and basically everything else that has exclusive rewards/drops tied to it that you can't buy on the mb and send them to me immediately" buttons. You aren't forced to join anything, you just can't accept that the content isn't for you and just not do it and accept that you wont have some pixels in your inventory that you'd like to have or you are forcing yourself to do something you apparently can't stomach for the life of you. In the case of PvP season pass rewards it's literally like 15 minutes for derping through the Frontlines roulette done sporadically, not even daily, to coast to rank 25 for your pixels. PvP season pass rewards are probably one of the lowest effort exclusive rewards in the entire game. Go try getting Pteranodon. I hope you enjoy crafting and gathering non-stop for a year or two. If PvP season pass rewards already make you that unreasonable of a person I can't even imagine how you act when you set your eyes on that mount and decide you want it. Either way, your argument is absolutely dumb, why even play at all? Just log in and have everything that's exclusive behind certain activities just sent per mail to everyone. Some people... Before you even think about responding something like "Uh, you're so elitist". No, I'm not. I do my Frontlines roulettes every now and then and play to the best of my abilities to get to rank 25 and so do others, that's it. I don't do Extremes, Savages or Ultimates, cause that's not my content and I just can accept I wont have all the shiney things if I don't play the content they are in and so do others, instead of behaving like a toddler by running in circles in "protest". Simple as that.

If I don't like playing Triple Triad should I just be able to hit a button and get the mount, parasol, titles, etc for free with no effort? If I don't like fishing should I be able to hit a button and get everything? If I don't like playing tank should I be able to hit a button and get all 8 tank achievement mounts? If I don't like doing ultimate fights should I be able to hit a button and get all the weapon glams for free?
