I recently figured out that you literally have to pay for new versions of Ableton. Thats madness. After hearing that, the debate was over for me.

Every DAW has its pros and cons. I came from a Mod Tracker background (I'm old AF, I know). I did try FL about 12 years ago but couldn't handle the floating windows. I tried Ableton and absolutely love it because everything is on one/two screens. This is probably because I used trackers for years. Moral of this pointless comment is - Make your own mind up. 😀

I've produced and mixed in Audacity, Sony Acid, Cubase, FL Studio, Cool Edit Pro, Adobe Audition, Ableton, Logic Pro X, Pocket Loops, Pro Tools, Garage Band..... but FL Studio makes me feel the most comfortable. I loved Logic for years. Ableton is super intuitive and feels great.. but I love FL's sequencer, playlist, and mixer- even some of the stock plugins it has, like Flex are dope. I have nothing against any other DAW- they're all great, but FL made me feel comfortable, and feels the most natural for me. But at the end of the day, it's about the user, not the software. The best DAW is whenever you can articulate your thoughts/ideas the best.

the cons about FL are that its the worse DAW for recording. and its audio engine gets muddy quick when you layer more instruments. it doesnt give you much headroom for creativity. you have to squeeze hard just to get a certain sound sit into the mix. so its bad for mixing and more complex style of music. its moving the mountain to achieve clean mix in it. just export stems and mix on daws like protools. but good news is its the best DAW out there to write Midi and chords. you can get ideas out in less than an hour. FL the most powerful DAW when it comes to midi and piano roll

Ableton is a life !!!

Started on FL, and tried a few others. The floating windows can get confusing, routing, and working with multiple live audio tracks can get confusing. I find for midi and beat making its great, but for live audio prefer logic work flow.

Flstudio sure is fun to play with. It's easier for electronic music producer. Other DAW easier to record analog thing. Also yeah it's personal preference

Tbh the stock plugins are pretty awesome. Upgraded to the full version a few months ago and only have a few aftermarket plugins and it’s 👌🔥 still got lots to learn tho.

The thing about ATL is there’s many ways to do everything and the best way to do things isn’t always the first way someone shows you or the actual way. There are unconventional steps you can take to make things MUCH easier because FL is so customizable

If you have a Mac I strongly recommend Logic. Insanely good DAW with very intuitive Workflows and UI, really good performance and stock plugins that are of very high quality.

I definitely prefer ableton but the stock reverb in fl is definitely better than the ableton one

Nah, waveform is far better value for money lmao, its free. And it works. I will say tho, i do usually use an MPC to beatmake, then i arrange and record in waveform. It is simple to use, and has a decent workflow. The free version combined with 3rd party plugins does the trick for me.

Its the most intuitive for sure. Ableton has the most logical workflow, but turns out I don't need to cause I am already overly organized (which prevents creative flow). The chaos in FL is just because you don't know how to use it yet (with all the handy little tricks and shortcuts you can learn)

It's great. I've used it for over 10 years. However, I've recently started using ableton and honestly, I think I'm going to move over entirely. Chopping and working with audio instead of midi feels better on ableton to me.

as long as audio quality is same on every daw, and litherally every daw has every possible function you can ask, the fact is what daw you prefer and makes you work faster in terms of layots your brain likes to work on, id can say that ableton has some negative functions but maybe im only used to fl studio, plus fl stock mixing plugins are great, you can reach a very good master and mix but as long as every professional producer records real instruments or create sounds and mix/masters with external plugins it really doesnt matter what daw you use as long as you like it, is like asking what car is the best for racing, if you win is the right one simple.

Been using FL since 2011, organization is time consuming. If you want to have a powerful DAW optionwise REAPER is best it costs cheaper as well it’s like 60 dollars. But Live and FL have less Options but better user interfaces

There's no downsides to using it. No one else can sell anything related to DAWs because of it tbh, unless your DAW can read minds somehow. There's so many options that I'm still discovering new ways to shorten my song making time with inventive solutions. It even supports using recordings of your voice to make beats using Edison to chop them at the exact notes you're singing.

Bigginer friendly is definitely the case also writing on an actual piano is way more straightforward you don’t need to click or drag anything it’s just not the same as an actual instrument if your not actually a musician tho I do get why people would go for it

It's completely subjective. Technically speaking all you need is the Producer edition plus you can buy plugins individually. On top of that you aren't entirely limited to the stock plugins with vst support.

Used logic then fl, and I took off with fl Bruh so much better for actually producing music, other daws have their strengths geared towards mixing/recording etc. All the daws are good in they’re own way I’m tryna master em all Pokémon shit fr fr

think about it this way: it has a free trial version thats basically the $500 dollar one but you cant save your projects UNLESS you find a loophole

As an FL user, ableton is a better daw, it’s the opposite of intuitive though so it’s very hard to work on when you’re just starting to use it

I've used FL for years and made the transition to Ableton. I must say that Ableton is way more powerful than FL, but the workflow is something you really need to get used to. IMO FL is better for simple hiphop/trap beats and Ableton is superior for techno/house/live recording etc.

Well for Growing a youtube channel around beat production you would have to use FL studio or your channel will be hard to grow. I use Reason and its dope for beats but very underrate vs FL.

Never heard anyone claim FL Studio is the best DAW from anyone. I heard the opposite about it often enough. It had a real bad reputation back when I was starting to produce like ten years ago. Maybe it lacked a few plugins back then but if someone is claiming DAW XY is the best or the worst today it's just their opinion and everything else is bullshit.

Nah lol fl studio has no cons it's just perfect and automatic at detecting VST. You can even use vocaloid inside the program itself 😂 it's bugged and doesn't work becouse it needs it selfs play button like fl mobile. Anyways the programm is basically there for anything you wanna do with it. Ableton doesn't seems like it has these features.
