Ford Racing 2 and 3 are underrated racing games. I even like Ford Street Racing and Ford Off-Road Racing as well. They get right to the racing fun rather than force you to grind all along from the bottom to the top.
I got this from a box of cereal as a kid and i really loved it :) What you say about the offroad races as critic was for me a huge bonus, while having very challenging races for a kid with no idea of racelines those offroad races allowed for fun and crashes and huge jumps and lava and helicopters flying over you. It was probably my favourite game until Need for Speed Most Wanted and GTA San Andreas rolled along.
I just played this game for the first time recently and it is a pretty damn good game. The main thing I can say for this game is it is well made and has solid driving. The stock car racing I enjoy in particular. It's not Burnout or Gran Turismo but for 20 bucks this game was a heck of a deal when it came out. Any kid who had this game at the time surely wasn't entirely disappointed.
I've played this game a lot when I was a kid and I really liked it. Same thing goes for Ford Racing 3. It's quite ridiculous but both of them have better physics than NFS2015. Nice review btw, it's sad that these games are forgotten.
I know I've said this before, but I adore these in-depth looks at some of the XBOX's less well known titles. They're not only wonderfully watchable, but for someone who only had a GameCube and PS2 for that era (got an original XBOX for Christmas 2008. Yes, I asked for it specifically, not the 360 xD) learning about this charming system's library is a ton of fun.
FR2 is such an average game, but i remeber to play like crazy with friends in a weekend. Simple and dumb arcade fun. Good stuff. I request more unknown and obscure racing games like Auto Modellista, Enthusia and etc! Cheers.
Ford Racing was a pretty decent game. A nice change from the other car games out at the time. Decent controls. Similar to the Gotham Project Racing games. 7 out of 10.
The Ford Racing series are a lot of fun. The driving isn't arcade or simulation. On first instinct I want to say they are floaty in a good way but smooth might be a better description. Ford Bold Moves Street Racing is my favorite of the bunch. Really solid hidden gem that if you see a thrift store or for cheap somewhere grab it.
Game Mazazine scoring systems were a mess. What the hell does a 4.9 imply? Is it an iota more terrible than a 5.2? Or even a straight 5? Why bother with the decimals? Just use solid numbers!
It's nice to finally see an in-depth review of a Ford Racing game from someone. I've tried this game myself when I was a kid at a friend's house and I liked it enough to want to get my own copy. I loved the variation of challenges brought to the game along with the diverse selection of Ford cars being a Ford fan myself. If you haven't yet, I recommend doing a review of the 3rd game. It brings in a few new courses along with more car variety including a few European and Australian Ford models.
I do have Ford Racing 3 along with Ford Bold Moves Street Racing. Total Immersion Racing was also developed by Razerworks, but feels like a step behind the Ford games.
I feel like with every game now-a-days being some huge event by a triple-A developer that there's no longer a place for middling games like this. There's nothing wrong with a game that's shallow but fun.
Ford Racing 2 was my very first proper game I knew and recieved (from pack of cereals). Previous games I knew were shareware/freeware games on a disc. I had it on PC and I never knew about background animations in games back then. So when I saw a plane taking off in the desert, spinning fans in the tunnels or part of the bridge rocking back and forth, i was extremely surprised that I saw this minor detail (because I was a little kid). The racing was really fun to me and the sense of progression was new to me (again, because of those shareware/freeware games i had). It was a really great game of my childhood. I miss PC version and i'm glad I bought PS2 version later as an adult.
Now these days this would be considered a simulation but this is one of the first games I played with the second being the Spider Man Movie Video Game I loved all of them This was truly a classic I don't give a shit what Xbox's rates it or what their opinion is this is was a challenging game but it made you feel good to unlock the cars and the different races and what not I went up against my buddies when I was little and had 3 controls for my PS2 and we would be going nuts and OH DEAR GOD THE SOUNDTRACK that's what made it the best you have to have amazing music to add to a amazing game
Wow this actually looks like a great racing game! Will give it a go once I'm able to find it somewhere for a bargain 👍🏻 Love the vid, really in depth stuff.
Glad you enjoyed the video :) And yeah, really solid games! On a side note, I'm glad RU-vid supports 60 frames per second, because that goes a long way, especially for a game like this.
i had ford racing 3 ages ago, it was pretty much my first console gaming experience, and as such i had a very poor grasp of video games in general, (recites drawn out anecdote about squandering the opportunity to properly use an Xbox and N64 game collection before they got sold) the racing games were the only ones i could play with any level of competence, but even then the only way i got my kicks was by setting up 2 player elimination without a second player and watching them explode
I’ve been playing this game since I was about 6 and I really enjoy it the only thing I’d is and ford ranger considering the fact there’s an off-road section of the game I think it would’ve made a great addition also I do own an 2005 ford ranger edge and it’s proven to me that it could’ve made the cut.
I got ford mustang legends live for PS2, it's a decent game, I've also owned ford racing 2 and 3 back in the day, I actually miss having both, they were fun to play, imma try ford street racing and ford off-road eventually, love ford
Nice little game, the soundtrack feels really nostalgic. Played it when my kid bro swapped some PS2 games with one of his friends of middle school. Ended up playing it more than him tho. My guess for the poor scoring it seem to have gotten was that the average game rag reviewer wasn't good at all with racing games... as their veredicts sound almost generic. And their "bad at games" fame, haha. I remember something like this from a certain mag from the early 00s that would describe JRPGs and the such in lush detail and good light (regardless of their quality) and give mediocre scores to racing, FPS and other action oriented titles.
I'm very good at racing, but... nah, this game is just pretty "okay". I used the whole scale instead of just the upper half so I'd give it around a 5 or 6 out of ten.
Man I completed ford racing 2 in hard and easy mode , and I felt one of the most challenging races in my life , like racing line , driving skills took me 5 tries each and seconds out was ok but if u miss one time bubble , that's it , u lose . Apart from the racing types , the physics in ford gt's big rear wheels don't really follow physics XD. The larger the wheel , the more grip it should have on the road . But anyways Razorworks did an amazing job of creating a driving simulator kind of game and I loved it . Ford racing 3 had physics much better than 2 though . But completing FR 3 in hard mode takes u forever . And I'm 18 , I still play FR 2 and 3 : )
This is actually the most decent game I ever got in a cereals box, with a very satisfying lifetime. Would have I bought it on purpose ? Probably not but it deserves more than being a CD offered in a cereals box.
i still have tha game on XBOX Original! i still love it 2 death! it helped me with alot of other racing games as well! good review! it is very underrated even graphically in today's standards! :)
Great game series for racing fans and Ford fanatics like myself. Not many games feature the GT90. I think need for speed 2 is the only other racing game that does.
It was a pretty good driving game, great graphics for its time, (we're talking about 2003 bro), great soundtrack and awesome classic and new licensed Ford cars, driving was realistic, you really had to be a pro driver, the cars didnt have the GTA 5 handling. I loved playing it both alone and with my friends
i decided to go on a nostalgia trip and look up this game since i used to play it so much and not only do i feel like i’m 6 again i found anew channel to enjoy nice video man
What do you think of ford racing 3? I absolutely loved playing both ford racing 2 and ford racing 3 because both were the best at their own way. I also felt that is underrated too. Both games are fun but ford racing 3 is more casual I think.
If you think this game is too easy, then you aren't playing with assists off and hard difficulty. Time Attack, Races, Racing line and Elimination are quite challenging, though Elimination on Off-Road is particularly difficult and requires more than one try.
I don't have any Xbox consoles so I can't tell you how good the backwards compatibility would be though i wouldn't expect anything great because of how obscure the game is :/
i think both games are great but fr3 has more, harder and longer challenges with a really good new system in graphics and sounds but i still love fr2 a bit better than fr3 because fr2 wad my childhood game. Still playing it for 9 years now!
implantgames yeah it looks terrible. I'm currently using just RCA cables but I doubt component cables will make it look as good as what you're showing here. I'm getting an original Xbox for Christmas so I might have to keep my eyes peeled for this title to add to the collection.
Ah, well that's a shame! Congrats on the Xbox, the original Xbox is a pretty rad system. A large portion of the library supports 480p, and there are a surprising amount of widescreen games as well.
