OK so it is a scam it wouldn’t be labeled as a scam but it’s a scam I’m gonna tell you why I know people that have actually went there and I was actually thinking of going there myself but when he’s people that I know that went there I know several people by the way I asked them about it and they literally said don’t go it’s not worth it here’s what they do say you want to go for music production right you know nothing about music production you don’t know the first thing you don’t know how any of the equipment works none of that well your pain go to college where they’re supposed to teach you they don’t teach you they throw you out in the water and they say swimmer drowned basically you get assignments all that stuff right well you would think they would teach you how to use the equipment all of that stuff they do not they put you out there and they say that you go make a song or make a beat well when you try to ask for help they are very rude here very disrespectful and unprofessional about it they will literally say some shit like you’re an adult you’re not a baby you can figure it out on your own you don’t need help you just need to do it now do it you have a deadline either get it done or you fail but they don’t teach you they don’t actually show you how to do anything you have to do it all by yourself you have to learn your self and you can do all of that shit at home I’m learning from home but I do eventually want to go to a music production college someplace that can really help me physically but you pay all of that money so basically just be told teach yourself and the teachers there act like they are the biggest professionals in the industry and they’re not because if they were let’s be honest they wouldn’t be a teacher at a music production college they would have a recording studio somewhere and they would be recording big ass fucking artists and they will be making music for big ass artists not supposed to be teaching New upcoming people how to do it but they don’t even actually teach you shit so in all reality it is a scam because they don’t really teach you nothing you have to learn it all yourself basically and you still have to pay a huge bunch of money so it is a scam because you could literally teach yourself at home how to do all that shit

VERY LONG - BUT PLEASE READ THIS, FOLKS Hopefully I can help someone who is reading this before it is too late for them. Full Sail credits do not transfer to other universities and the degrees are often not recognized by hiring firms. National accreditation sounds better than regional accreditation (most established universities), right? It isn't. Regional accreditation ensures your credits will transfer almost anywhere (even to universities with different regional accreditation - hell, the bulk of your credits will transfer to a different country in all likelihood) - and even if you do not transfer, no employer will question whether or not your degree is legitimately a degree. This is not arbitrary - regional accreditation holds students to a higher standard, a consistent standard. With all due respect to the poster of this video, Full Sail credits don't transfer anywhere - no need to "call the other school" - because they won't even recognize that you are actually going to a school. The accreditation isn't different, it is blatantly inferior - which is why it is not transferable. Many employers are aware of this, and no shiny piece of paper will convince them otherwise. I am from Florida originally, and every friend I grew up with who went to Full Sail (now well into their 30's) has failed to make a dent in the debt incurred from going there - the only one making progress had to get a separate degree from UCF (regionally accredited University). That entire degree cost him less than a year at Full Sail, by the way. DON'T GET ME WRONG, one could argue that these more "standard" state schools will also drain you of money by forcing you to take and re-take classes that are unnecessary for your understanding of your major or that you have already shown yourself to understand, for the sake of dotting an "i" or crossing a "t". That they are just as self interested... AND YOU'RE RIGHT. That's not the issue. The issue is those standard (state-funded) Universities/Colleges also rely on keeping a hard earned regional accreditation, and high performing students, to even entertain the idea of having transferable credits, as well as state and federal funds (the entire reason people go to them). In other words, they are actively incentivized to hold you to a higher standard - and dismiss you if you don't meet it. There are other reason why a "non-profit" that still obviously makes a profit, is restricted in ways that make it harder to take advantage of people financially - but that would double the length of this post (they are also MUCH cheaper than Full Sail). I am currently transferring to a 4 year institution after getting straight A's for an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Programming... I owe no money to my college. Because after a while they paid me to go there with scholarships (and some external scholarships that I applied for). I am graduating this semester and have already gotten 3 job offers from large (billion dollar) firms. Of course, this too is something of a trap. These firms want to sign me to 2-3 year contracts and teach me mostly in-house software. This way, they keep me at the company without a Bachelor Degree while telling me that I don't need one - inflating my ego while paying me less - this is common practice. It would be nice to believe otherwise, but to believe otherwise would be dishonest. AND STILL, every job offered me MUCH more than the average salary for the Full Sail students with the BACHELOR degree this gentleman in the video will earn (you can look these figures up yourself, the University has to report them). Again, these weren't interested parties - they were offers - and I turned them down to continue studying. But why did they offer me anything at all? Well, despite only having an Associate Degree - there were no real do overs and no second chances in getting it (not necessarily a good thing, but its reality). I had to deliver working programs with documentation on time and take in-person or proctored exams administered by PhDs and Masters with 20+ years experience - who sat with me in actual classrooms and offices to walk me through a concept before a test (No offloading to Lynda.com like you will see at Full Sail). Had I failed to deliver quickly (too many late assignments - subpar grades), I would have been dismissed, and no amount of money would have changed that. I was just honest about what i was good at, accepted what I wasn't good at, and worked my ass off at a regionally accredited institution. And the firms that offered me jobs know this. They are aware that my GPA and scholarships weren't "try and pay until you get it right", and that I will be 2-3 times more expensive once I get my Bachelor degree. Again, because said degrees are from/for a regionally accredited institution and are recognized everywhere. I am not trying to be rude. I just don't want to see more people live in crushing debt for the remainder of their lives when there is an objectively cheaper, more comprehensive, and widely accepted alternative. You'll have to deal with endless bureaucracy, study endlessly, and admit your shortcomings. It won't be glamorous - but you will likely have manageable debt and a worthwhile degree IF you go to a regionally accredited community college, typical state school, or prestigious private school (Ivy League etc). Please, swallow any pride you may have, and be honest with yourselves.
@andytamburino1743
@andytamburino1743 2 года назад
Hey Sachmo, you are absolutely correct it is not easy to transfer credits after attending FSU. but you are wrong about it being impossible. I'm already lined up to get my master's at a state college for comp sci. Did I have to take more classes yes, did I have to work hard and teach myself some info sure. Was full sail cheap? HELL NO but I will say I'm on pace to finish my master's in 4 years total of school. The reality is if you go to full sail for comp sci you better have a passion or you will never get hired. But on top of it, the Associate of Applied Science in Computer Programming degree is 100% not worth in fact any associates degree really is because you simply are looked at as a below intern level. For the cost of an associate degree, I would just go to a BootCamp.
@sachmo6864
@sachmo6864 2 года назад
@@andytamburino1743 Below intern level? There is literally no such thing. The offers I already received were for 60,000+ dollars a year - not internships - full time jobs (one was from Amazon for Amazon Cloud services). Saying something inflamatory and non-sensical like "below intern level" - doesn't make those offers and their pay just go away - or change the actual figures the college must report. The average salary for a Computer Science related BS at Full Sail is roughly 45,000 dollars two years after graduation (assuming you are employed) ACCORDING TO FULL SAIL! That is objectively less than the majority of Associate degrees related to computer science at state schools. Now, did I get paid to get my degree? Sure. Did I learn everything I needed to in order to create two websites and a game from the ground up before I graduated with certificates you'd get from multiple boot camps that cost 5,000 to 10,000 dollars a camp (Python, C#, Java, Javascript, PHP, all supporting code in-between) in about a year? Sure. Did I get accepted to every university computer science program I applied to (even a prestigious one you mentioned in the video ;) )? Sure - oh wait, those are all good things. I got paid for a degree that took me a little over a year to get, that got me $60,000 a year job offers, and accepted to every BS program I applied to (I have about 85 credits - some CLEP and AP derived - most all transferable - took summer classes too ;) ). This is NORMAL for high performing students in an Associate program that doesn't accept everyone with a pulse and has regional accreditation. The question isn't whether or not you can technically transfer some credits eventually, or eventually get gainful employment. The question is, is Full Sail the best option for a computer science related degree in terms of cost/benefit? The answer is no. Even if you transferred from a state funded community college after two semesters to a state university and just paid for that state university with a private loan (without scholarships that a state university would readily provide for you) - you would STILL owe less than 50,000 dollars in loans after getting a Bachelor's recognized everywhere (a good student won't owe nearly this much).... how much do you owe for your Bachelors, again? Most people don't graduate from Full Sail (leaving them in serious debt), and those who do, only have a roughly 13% chance of making ANY progress or full payment on their loans as of 2020 (two years after degree acquisition). The rest (according to College Scorecard, in case anyone is curious) are making no progress, in deferment, in forbearance, or are delinquent. Granted, most of these places - like Amazon, will actively try and keep you from getting a Bachelor's degree so they don't lose you to a better paying position - but you will still be making a lot (and in my case, I will have my Bachelor's shortly anyway... so...). The catch? You have to be a genuinely good student and have an unusually high aptitude for your field of study. If you have to find a way around that by going to a school that will accept anyone and lean on Lynda.com and former (often recently graduated) students to provide instruction in month long intervals, then schools and employers will eventually realize this one way or the other. I hope you find your way to gainful employment, but it still won't mean that most software and website devs will respect national accreditation as much as regional accreditation (they won't), or that it will be easier to transfer to other programs than it would from a state school (as you found out, it definitely isn't), or that you will make more money on average (especially when factoring for debt) than someone who graduated from a state school (you won't). Think about it - you literally admitted in the video that Full Sail costs more than regionally accredited programs... well, a Bachelor's from there doesn't consistently pay more... that alone makes it less worthwhile than other programs with more academic rigor (thats before you even consider the high interest debt, credit transfer-ability, job placement rates, and lack of degree recognition). Full Sail costs too much for the benefits, on average, compared to regionally accredited state schools. No way around that.

@@sachmo6864 Ahh now I understand your point here. I’m interested to see where you are getting these numbers at. Not because I’m saying you are wrong I just don’t really understand where you are getting the average pay of 45k at or even getting paid 60k for coding. For full transparency 45k is low and 100% no worth imo. My start up intern role pays 6k a month + RSU’s coming out at a total comp of around 78k and upon graduation I then can bump up to full time and go to 100k+. Now I am in Atlanta so the city does pay more but I also live outside the city and work remote so I don’t really pay city costs. But I get it you are right Fullsail’s isn’t cheap and there are cheaper options. But the paper is paper my man. If a job doesn’t hire you it’s not because of the school you went to it’s because of your work. I mean if you really think about it most places don’t even care about the degree anymore.

As someone thats in the comp sci degree at full sail .... ANDY IS 100% correct. After reading your post and the replies it's clear that you have failed yourself more than the school failing you. You mad a wrong choice without doing your due diligence before attending. That would be your fault. Also, you cant bash anyone but yourself because you made that choice, full sail has all there information up and all that information can be researched. You failed... not anyone else. Actually you didn't fail completely. you just failed to realize you had a chance with in yourself... you failed to see any winning step forward and probably feel like your entitled to get more. YOUR NOT!! jUST ANOTHER PERSON EXPECTING different results for the same work.
@sachmo6864
@sachmo6864 2 года назад
@@hawaiian2dabone103 I didn't go to Full Sail. And if you had read either post in it's entirely, you would know that. This is ironic, considering your diatribe about due diligence. I was a straight A student at a regionally accredited community college where I got enough scholarships to get paid to go there. I have now been accepted to a presigious Bachelor's program after turning down several 60K+ a year offers for a simple Associate degree with great grades. The average post graduate figures for Full Sail are worse than most all, standard, regionally accredited schools - regionally accredited schools have better outcomes on average, are more well regarded, and almost always cost less than nationally accredited, for-profit schools like Full Sail. The catch is that classes are more rigorous (again, check College Scorecard, these figures must be reported by the college and university itself and various sites track these figures). Full Sail degrees are frequently not respected due to its accreditation type (by employers and transfer schools), and the posted video admits that it is very expensive, while at best providing a degree that is no more useful than a state university or college. This makes it a poor value no matter how you cut it - even before you take into account that you are more likely to go into default of your loans than pay them back after Full Sail (according to 2020, two year out, post graduate figures). Learn to do YOUR due diligence, and actually read something before drawing a conclusion, or learn to fail. I know it feels like your classes at Full Sail are difficult - but they only feel that way to those who generally didn't excel as well in school beforehand (for whatever reason, not calling anyone dumb). Being older than you (yes, I am), I have had many friends go to Full Sail... they literally ALL used the same words you did... they all ended up in soul crushing debt. Except one... the one that went to UCF afterwards, got consistently high paying jobs because of that degree (he makes 200 grand a year now in marketing), and paid off the Full Sail loan while leaving Full Sail off of his resume. He was also surprised at the difficulty and depth of the classes taken at UCF. Again, Full Sail (as well as all nationally accredited for-profit schools) are almost always poor value for the cost, when compared to regionally accredited state schools. This is common knowledge and is supported by post graduate figures for Full Sail. Hopefully, you'll do your due diligence and actually read this post through before commenting on it. This isn't romantic, but it's true.

told to do it your fucking self the teachers and a lot of the like Big-name people at the school literally act like they are just pop shit they act like they are the best professionals ever and I’ve heard from multiple people that have went there they did not have a very good experience but they did say when you see a full sale ad or commercial and they say real hands-on experience real world experience they’re not telling a lie because they show you exactly how the real world is exactly how people in the music industry really act which I mean I guess can be a good thing because it kind of teaches you to have tough skin but when you’re just starting out and you’re wanting to actually learn music production and stuff like that and you know nothing about it it’s not really a good idea to say here you go now do it without teaching somebody how to do it first showing them the ropes you can’t take a 13-year-old shove them in the kitchen and Se cook a Thanksgiving dinner if they’ve never cooked a day in their life because you’re possibly gonna have your house burned out and another thing I was actually really thinking about going to for sale university I never called them or got in contact with them or anything like that but a few years ago before Covid actually hit they actually called me and told me that I’ll head student loans through them that we had talked and I was supposed to go there and I never showed up and now I have student loans in I mean I ended up getting everything taken care of and I don’t have student loans and they were basically trying to throw some shit at me but I ended up getting it worked out and I didn’t have student loans they were straight up lying to me every time they would call me and told me that I had student loans that were due and I need to pay them it wasn’t true and I just heard so many bad things about for sale university from people that have actually went there and experienced it firsthand and they literally were like oh I will never recommend that college to anyone they shouldn’t even be in college they are so unprofessional with everything that they do there is no professional grade anything yeah they have professional equipment and all of that but the people that work there are not professional they treat you like shit if you have never done anything with a certain whatever you’re working with they are literally like I’m not gonna help you you’re a big boy you’re a big girl do it yourself it’s called learning learn and it’s like if I’ve never done it how am I supposed to learn it like I was always taught when I was in public school that if you don’t know something ask for help if they get new computers in the computer lab and I don’t know how to work that computer ask for help because if I fuck up that computer I got a pay for that shit i’m sorry but I know the price of professional grade studio equipment and the type of stuff that they have is expensive ass equipment and I’m sorry but excuse me if I don’t wanna fucking do that shit without knowing how to work with you first because I don’t wanna fucking actually fuck the shit up and then be told I got a pay for it because baby I am paying to go to college here and I fuck up your equipment and then you tell me I have to pay for it bitch to take it out of my motherfucking nope sorry I’m not paying for the equipment I’ve had to go to college here use the money that I’m paying a dollar to fix your damn Quitman or maybe you should’ve told me how to fucking work that shit Maybe should’ve taught me how long she worked before you just sent me down and said they go make music when you come back in and the whole room blowed up and I’m like well I didn’t know how to work the machine Anna you didn’t teach me so shut up here’s your music so honestly just from doing my personal research and knowing people that have actually went there my comment is basically to let people know in your comments don’t go there it’s a waste of money they’re not gonna give you any thing that you can’t learn by yourself at home literally you pay all this money to go to a college where they literally just sit you down and say there you go learn how to do it yourself you can do that shit for free at home and you don’t need that much crazy fucking equipment to create professional sounding shit and you can buy the shit on Amazon you can buy condenser mics you can buy all the inputs and outputs and you know all of the adapters and things that you need for a studio and you can literally do that shit at home for fucking free basically I mean you do have to pay for like logic or density or whatever you want to use but overall it’s cheaper than going to a college that says they’re all about helping you and they don’t help you at all they just throw you out there and say swimmer sink

Wow this is 100% a TLDR but skimming this hear, I see you mentioned audio. by no means do I have experience on the audio side for the school as I'm a comp sci student. My teachers are awesome. My mentors at the school are great. I've gotten real-world experience while at the school on coding projects. I graduate in 2 months and I have to say. Anyone who ever told you the school didn't do anything for them is simply doing something wrong because I've never felt that way.
