My sleeve with Dr. A. Almost 2 years ago was not just worth it, it saved my life. I lost so much weight my health improved, I gained my self confidence back and the best part for me is I still eat some of the food I couldn’t eat when I was forcing myself to diet losing and gaining the weight right back. With the sleeve I eat small portions enough to satisfy my hunger without food deprivation. The sleeve helps me eat less allowing me to maintain my goal weight.
I am 9 years out. I had a life tragedy about 4 months after surgery. I had lost 60 lbs at that time. For the next 6-7 years, I did not lose weight due to snacking too much. I never gained a pound back. Then I focused on my diet and started losing weight fast again!!!! If you do right, this tool never stops working!!
@@RajwinderKaur-wj8nwHad surgery 10/24/2022 - highest weight was 237 - I'm now 131 and have completely changed my relationship with food. Im still working on the exercise part - especially the strength training but cardio is very manageable without the 100 excess lbs. I no longer snore when I sleep (so I'm told) and my energy levels & mood are beyond improved.
It has certainly changed my life! I’m 9 1/2 weeks post-op, 63 pounds down, Primary Care took me off of Blood Pressure medication 17 days ago, I’m 222 days sugar-free and I feel amazing. Surgeon gave me a 3 month Free Personal Trainer and I have had 3 sessions so far. Although it’s Thanksgiving week, my Food was low-sodium, low-fat, high-protein and sugar-free and I still lost weight. So was Gastric Sleeve worth it? YES IT WAS!!! Discipline starts in the mind and 5 months ago, I walked into my Surgeon’s office for the first time already 52 Days Sugar-Fee so that told him; I was ready!
Yes! I had surgery in late May. I'm down 78lbs and haven't felt this good in 30 years. Blood pressure, sleep apnea and diabetes are essentially in the normal ranges. Even my kidney function is much improved. I wish I had foresight to have gone this years ago.
My advise to any obese person is that if you have the money for it and you’re physically able to perform the operation, don’t hesitate a single second and go change your life for the better.
I just had my gastric sleeve surgery yesterday 11/27. I started off 300. Down 288 after pre-op diet. I’ve got a ways to go but I’m looking forward to the journey and better health. I appreciate your videos Dr. Alvarez .
I'm a week PO, I'm in my liquid/puree stage and I see that my stomach doesn't like eggs anymore. I know the sleeve will be trial and error trying to see what foods I'll be able to tolerate in the future. Is it worth it, so far: Yes, I'm ready for the journey ahead.
I’m glad that I had the surgery in December 2018. It definitely changes other health issues such as those that you mentioned for the better. Thank you for continuing to give us great insight and support.
I'm only 3 months post surgery but right now is it worth it?... yes im early days, but life is looking great already, I have Multiple Sclerosis and Transverse Myelitis so mobility is limited but I'm appreciating life even more. X
I don't have my surgery date yet. I wanted to ask about mobility since I have severe arthritis in both knees. How was getting up walking after surgery?
@@amarie2540Hi Amarie, I use one crutch when walking, my surgeon was very much aware of my condition, I had nurses on each side of me helping me to walk. I remember being in theatre at 9am and remembered waking up at 12noon then back to sleep and up again at 3pm I took my first steps at 3:30pm started of as a new born giraffe 🦒 uno a little wobbly but I soon got the hang of it was stepping like at stallion 🐴 😂
