The Moterm Weeks cover is closer to $60 if you choose the slowest free shipping. I like to spend the extra $20ish dollars to get it to me faster, bumping it up to closer to $100

So glad you made a comparison! I got sticker shock looking at the Gillio, so I'm very curious how these stack up

All this time later…I own only one folio from Gillio and lots of Moterm.

Gosh, I would love to see a video showcasing your entire planner collection 😍

You know, I don’t hang onto a ton of them. I have very few “keepers” in the end. I have several but not a huge collection.

Great comparison. I don't have any Gillio, but I have definitely looked at them over the years. I really love their leather options, but not enough to get one, especially now, when Moterm has a really nice product for way less. Thank you for another great video Sam!
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
Right! You get basically the same thing but for so much less.

I can’t wait to see how the Moterm Veg Tans age. Mine have gotten so much softer with every release. My chestnut weeks from the most recent release is much closer in softness to the gillio epoca leather than the forest I bought during the first release. I love that the Veg Tan weeks is only $60. The gillio price definitely keeps me from buying too many more now that Moterm has stepped its quality up.
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
Yes, my Apricot and Chestnut from this release is so much softer and more pliable than the others. So so good!
@ambyramenra
@ambyramenra Год назад
@@samplans I wondered if I was the only one who noticed the increased softness. I’m so impressed with the new Moterms.

I have been using Gillio Compagnas for about 10 years now. Right after Mella made her very first video after visiting the Gillio store and buying her first. (Mella basically discovered Gillio - for RU-vid - and is now working at Gillio). I can absolutely feel the difference in leather. There is nothing quite like the luxury of a Gillio. Moterms are nice, and I have a few, but nothing close to a Gillio. I know my Gillio will last for decades. I really don't think my Moterms will. Plus buying a Gilliio is like buying a luxury purse. There is resale value. (It's a very thin real leather inside of a Gillio pocket. Not faux)

I didn’t know that, very cool!

Great comparison! I have both but I cannot stand the crackling sound of the Moterm cover’s lining. At first I thought I don’t mind it but I actually do. Also, I really like smoother covers and love that you can request the texture and pictures when you order from Gillio directly.
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
I agree! I have heard of people successfully requesting texture with Moterm, but photos aren’t available of course. I understand Moterm having components that are cheaper, but you’d think they could find something a little less noisy.

I have never seen moterm in that quality leather. Amazon doesn’t sell those, only pebble and croc. And limited colors. Where did you get yours from. Because of your videos I checked their website and saw big selection of leather and colors. But nowhere to purchase them. Please tell me where to buy vegetable tan leather Moterm A5 and personal wide. Thank you!
@00tlo00
@00tlo00 Год назад
I like the Moterm veg tan Weeks covers better than the slim Appunto. The Gillio just seems too wide after buying the Moterm. I only kept my Gillio black matte croco because I don’t like the Moterm croc leather. As far as ring planners go, I still like my medium Compagnas better. I feel like an idiot for spending that kind of money on a planner, though, when the Moterms are so good.

Great comparison! I have both and prefer the Gillio, I don’t like the plasticky feel of the Moterm. Also Moterm manufactures in China and Gillio in Italy. I would imagine there are some labor cost differences between those countries! Thanks for the video Sam! ❤
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
I am sure you are right about the labor cost. The new veg tan line from Moterm do not feel like plastic, they feel very nice.

Great comparison! I totally agree with your comparisons. I have never felt a Gullio, but knowing how nice the veg Moterms are, and what you are saying, I never will need to. lol I have many Moterm planners, and they are just fine for me. Thanks for the video.

I have many Gillio and a few Moterm veg tan. Wish Moterm would replace the cheap plastic-y lining and improve the ring quality.
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
Same. The rings are also an issue. Luckily I alit my pages so I don’t have to deal with them often.
@waggermama

That’s really helpful. I must admit the lining of the Moterms has put me off rather, but only bc I like the colours to match (and I dislike black), but I am tempted.

Awesome review/comparison! I've owned both Moterm and Gillio brands at one point and sold them all... now I only have VDS. I feel like if we're talking quality, VDS is the way to go :)
@Elizabeth-ci5xy

Agree, VDS is in a league of it’s own. 🤎 Great comparison however Sam, thank you!
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
Yes, I compared these two because they are both ready to ship and offer no options for customization. VDS is absolutely in another category, and is the only one that makes custom work in house. Love them!

The zipper on the gillio is my biggest complaint. I would not be sad if they got rid of it. I think I’m going to try one of the newer moterms and see how I feel about them now.

I think it would’ve been more helpful if you were to compare the undyed models from both Moterm and Gillio.

I can’t just buy every color to answer every question. And Moterm technically doesn’t have an undyed.

Yes, you can often find the pebbled (pressed) top grain leather on Amazon, but the full grain have been hugely popular and haven’t made it there yet. I would suggest you follow the Moterm page on FB or IG. They generally give a few days notice to the next drop. But be there on time, they go in minutes.
@marachristian8726
@marachristian8726 Год назад
I have two Moterms because of the price point. I don't think I would ever spring for the Gillio since I am happy with the Moterm, but it does kind of bother me that Moterm basically copied Gillio and underpriced them. Then again, maybe Gillio is just over-priced, so they kind of deserved it!
@samplans
@samplans Год назад
Gillio also seems to have copied from others, so I guess it is all fair. 😅

You said the Muppets Gillio was faux leather?

Not faux leather, but it isn’t real ostrich. It’s calf leather made to look like ostrich.

Oh ok, thank you for clarifying that for me....I always loved the muppet covers but just couldn't afford any.
