I have a challenge that is quite specific as I work in prison and it makes it hard to stay in only one journal. I would love to carry a pocket size so it is with me at all times (I have a hard time with digital as i need to physically write down things) but then my work planner is a completely different beast. I would really like for only one planner, however, having personal information in a prison is not totally the safest thing….😂. But i have many things to schedule both home and work, so i need it either have two separate planners, which entails writing everything twice or somehow have a code for all the personal stuff. I currently doing th encode method in a B6 Sterling Ink. I carry a small overpacked purse which has no room for a B6. Uuuuggghhh the struggle! It ends up stressing me out thinking i am going to be forgetting something, then i get overwhelmed and fall behind!
I'm definitely an introvert and prefer to write everything before sharing with people. I like looking back at my planners also for a record and a version of journal reflection

Your video came at the right time! I’ve been using a Weeks for almost a year now, and I’ve like it but for some of the same reasons you’ve mentioned, I’m going to back to my Personal rings. I like the flexibility of the rings. I feel guilty switching planners systems, and I’m one who felt I had to have all of these sections in my planner (that’s what I get for watching a lot of RU-vid videos). Thank you for doing this video. It encouraged me to do the same as you, and I won’t feel guilty about doing it! 😊
I hate that I repeat plan in my cousin. In 2025 I am going to a stalogy for journaling. Keep my megawerks for EDC and the cousin will be for Bible study. I love my weeks and just can’t give it up
@@samplans my mega weeks will be my EDC bills todo etc. the stalogy just for journaling and the cousin months weeks and days will be Bible study. Months will track verse of the day. Weekly will be devotion and daily will be what I am currently studying and the notes I want to take
Ah interesting! Im curious if that at all explains why journaling comes naturally to me and keeps me sane, while my planning style is very bare bones and hasn't changed in years (which is why I come here looking for inspo!)
Maybe! I feel like I’ve unlocked some kind of secret code! At the very least, I feel like I can finally release my crazy guilt for failing at journaling.
I have actually been looking for a planner like this. I want all of January stuff together meaning January month overview, then January weekly, then January dailies. I don’t like the set up of Jan-Dec months then Jan- Dec weeks then Jan-Dec dailies. Looking forward to trying this for 2025!
I just chuckled to myself -- it's like you read my mind with this system :). I've been in only a Hobonichi Weeks for all of this year, but I'm suddenly interested in exploring rings!
ENFJ and I struggle to journal. Sometimes I do bits, but I don't feel journaling adds anything for me. I agree I probably talk more openly when things are on my mind and work through it that way. You are on to something!
I’m glad to hear this!! You said exactly what’s been in my head about journaling, I can sit down and do it as a habit, but I’m not sure it does anything for me. So…why do it? I kind of envy those (even my husband) who journal so beautifully. He’s an INFP.
I think this setup is great for you! I purchased a Weeks cover in the Moterm color Quartz, only because they don't offer it in the pocket rings. So, for now I am back in my Sterling Ink version of the Weeks. lol I do love a bound book for all the reason you do. However, I love rings also because they don't get as chunky, you have more play with the pages, and all of that. I don't think I will ever be able to say I will only ever stick to this one certain kind of planner. lol
@@samplans Hi Sam! I love the Quartz! To me it is the perfect pink leather color. I wish I could get this color in so many covers, and rings. lol It is embarrassing, but I am sure you can understand, I am already changing my mind. I am switching back out of it, and moving back into a passport TN with the bare minimum in it for my purse, EDC. I will also pick out a small wallet from my stash. The SI Weeks is a lot more bulky than the Hobo Weeks, and the past few days I felt like I was having a hard time getting it in my purse. I hope you and your husband are doing ok.
I would love to be in a Rings planner but it increases MY anxiety because I hate printing inserts, where do I buy them, what size and aaaggghhhh….so I tend to stay in book bound because I can’t screw it up…..
I totally get that! It’s easier than it seems though…if *I* can do it, anyone can! So many shops offer printed too, but bound is way less work for sure.
I think you're partly right, I'm an introvert and prefer to write than talk about it before i share with other people. Sometimes writing it just helps for me. But i don't journal daily, i do plan daily & (Light memory keeping.)
Another person who writes it down before sharing! I don’t think I’ve ever written anything down before sharing it out loud, unless I’m taking notes about something and can’t share in the moment.
Can I make a suggestion regarding journaling. You mentioned that it’s more introverted to journal, which is true. What if you journaled with the intention of someone else to read it? You could write about your day as if telling the story to your kids, write them letters that they will then get to read when they’re older, write down childhood memories of your own and theirs as they occur so they can look back one day and read all those beautiful memories and personal notes. Maybe if you tried to journal in this way you would like it more and stick with it. Another idea I had was to decorate a journal but leave it blank so my 4 y/o daughter could use it to write in when she’s older. Some small notes would be nice, but overall leave the journal unused for her to write in it.
I tried doing that quite a bit when my kids were all younger. But I was never consistent. Having six kids didn’t leave a lot of time to journal. My best job of memory keeping back then became a blog…also extroverted.
Your planning system involves rings and the Weeks with recyclable small notebooks. Be it only one planner or two (and I'm not counting the small notebooks), you'll use them during the year.
I have always internalized everything because I was raised as an only child. My sister was 16 when I was born so I never had anyone to talk to unless my best friend and I were together. I find that I think better on paper instead of internalizing everything. Having said that, I don’t ever go back and read anything I write in a bound book which makes the bound book unnecessary. I still fight this battle because I love the look and feel of the bound book.
Love this! I have been toying with this same idea…using rings and also my weeks because they are both great for different things! Now I just need to decide which Filofax to buy 😂
Yaass!! I love that mentality. Then we get to see more realistic planning vs just aesthetic which kinda gives me stress because my planners look nothing like that.
I am flirting with personal rings. I like A6, but there aren’t many things readily available for easy of ordering(i.e Amazon). Also archiving is a chore to find for A6. I think I need to find a different personal cover, I have the holborn and it doesn’t lay flat. Archiving is easier for the personal, because I can order inexpensive clear covers from Amazon.
Jornaling is the way to clarify my thoughts, just i write them instead of talking to anyone. Also it means that noone is interrupting my thoughts with his own opinion and not influencing me. Jornalinh often results in the meaningful todo list that is well though of. So it's not for memory keeping, it's for clarification.
I agree. Journaling is like brain dumping my feelings without judgment or interruption. There is some catharsis to dumping everything on paper, whereas with speaking to someone (even if I trust this person), I have to choose my words. Writing it all down is more unbridled and more authentic in my experience.

I wished I had listened to you before I purchased. I ordered the Deep Water in a mini cb, w/zipper. It is too small as a structured bag, I still like it . I’d like a larger bag , but you raise a good point for structure in a larger bag. Good video.

I actually do both. Sometimes it hits to sticker before. I am praying for you. My old moved to Germany several years ago and my 2nd grandchild was born there. It sure is rough.
My brother lives about that far from me, and it is hard. However, when he and his wife visit or we go see them, it is always a time that we are grateful for and never take for granted! :)
We keep asking how often he will visit. If he will come home for random dumb stuff. I know he will get busy and the answer is no. He’s not even gone yet and I’m planning his visit. 😮💨

I am sorry your son is moving so far away. I feel your pain. I love how close you all are. I know he won't be there on the daily, but at least four hours is drivable. I'm sorry. Try and practice extra self-care in the next couple weeks. I love your commitment to your Weeks! Great job. Last night I made two impulse purchases. ugh. lol I ordered the Weeks 2024 that is navy with the cat in like a vintage looking oval picture looking thing and at the bottom it says I hope you have a nice day, or something like that. I love that one, and it was on sale. I will save it for sometime in the future and just redate it as I go. Then I found the new Quartz color in pebbled leather on Amazon in the weeks cover, so I had to get that also. haha. I wish so bad they would come out with that color in the regular pocket ring size.
