I am from the Philippines too watching this inspires me to be one but I am in the middle of confusion. I have in the back of my mind becoming one of this friars.
I believe my vocation is being a husband and a father. a have a wonderful wife and a wonderful daughter . i love my family. but i love God so much . and watching these videos makes me feel so much closer to God . and think they have a wonderful life. after all what could be more wonderful then living a life of God .and doing his will .
I don’t think God is calling me as I came to Catholicism late and life, AND I am female. But I trust God, so I believe in a plan for my life, even though I’m old. Blessings to all with love, your sister in Christ!
@@emmawilson2837 Certainly is genuine for me, as I went to great trouble to join and I am in my 60s. I would go to daily mass if I was able. I love the teaching of the Franciscans.
I think those who gave a thumbs down . really need prayers. if you have the opportunity to live the life God is calling you to live . please go for it . what a blessing . a opportunity to live and experience God .. wow God bless you all . . i believe with shape the world is in we. need more of religious life .. God governs the world. but prayers govern God ..
So glad that these guys found a welcoming environment to discern their vocations and ultimately live the gospel life and community! I however was not welcomed was greatly humiliated and embarrassed! I never gave up though just looked at the greater franciscan family, which is also a wonderful blessing to the Church!

I have always wanted to serve the poor, live a life of poverty, and help others physically and spiritually. Becoming a friar has always been something I considered, I'm only 15 but it has never been a strange thought. I wonder how I can become one?

I wonna be a Franciscan friar but how? I am from East Timor. I felt like God has called me to be as poor as Jesus and St. Francis are. so that I can be the servant of God and of all in all humility and in poverty?

At 27 a Belligerent Agnostic now 49 I read the St. Frances Prayer for the 1st time. My life has never been the same since. Jesus screwed up my Life . Kept me out prison. I stop Drinking and using Drugs. Stop treating women badly. I became in impoverish. And Rejected wealth out choice ? or Gods will? at 49 Im still trying to make sense of it. The Strange thing is Im not Even catholic. And didn't become a Christian till I was 35. I went to a Domination were they were studying the Scripture a Presbyterian church were I was encourage to challenge everything. (By Some people while others thought I was a heathen LOL). I be forever grateful to a well educated Pastor there as I challenged everything he challenged me which brought me deeper and deeper in to study. I even studied Catholicism and the History of the church. And found out Catholics arnt so bad LOL
My dear Friars we are saved(justifed) by faith alone. Truly appreciate your commitment to the Cross. Hope your good works is flowing out of your justification not for your justification.

It’s very frustrating when you’re calling comes later in life. I know God is calling me, it’s strong and going nowhere yet I’m told I’m too old at every turn. Feels like everyone is saying God doesn’t want me until I’m dead now and I’m only 50 so I’m kinda hoping I’ve got a good 30 years left.

What good would it do for God to call me? I am 71 and deemed to be too old to profess. I am a very young 71 and could easily give them a good 20 years, but, alas, they say no to me.

This way I can stop and help the man that needs a ride on my donkey . . .to the hospital.. . .if I don't have to be some where then no one is offended if I don't show up...I kind of let the day just unfold in front of me . . .This is part of being a mendicant. God told me when I met the brothers (friars) not to come under anyone's ministry any more . . .so to the best of my ability I am not doing that . . . A Friar is a kind of Hermit. . .I can be living with my brothers one day, then wake up and they have all left to minister some where else . . .there are about 50 of us all over the USA. The brothers usually travel in community, there could be 5 brothers or 20 brothers living together for a season . . .the thing is many times we travel alone. Living as Hermits, praying, ministering (meeting needs) loving some body . . .many times there could be three or four brothers doing the work . . .together. You can really know if this life is what you are supposed to be doing, if you can, keep doing it, when no ones around to watch . . .a Friar is a calling, a lifestyle, of traveling and meeting needs of others.
