Want to find lots of gold in the coming year? Well, you better know and understand gold first. Think you already know what you need to know about gold? Today I’m going to explain 12 amazing things you probably don’t know about the famous yellow metal. Here is what we will talk about: 1) Is gold magnetic? 2) Does Gold Float? 3) Is gold transparent? 4) Is gold edible? 5) Is gold bulletproof? 6) What color is gold? 7) Can gold be dissolved in water? 8) How malleable is gold? 9) Why is gold important in electronics? 10) How pure is Natural Gold? 11) Why is gold so valuable? 12) What is gold used for?

Thank you for these videos you know a lot! I kind of wondered (apparently not enough to look it up haha) how some metal detectors can’t detect gold while others only find magnetic metals and it make perfect sense that the higher end metal detectors can use an electromagnetic field and the conductivity of gold to find the nuggets. Great stuff! Please keep these videos coming!
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph 3 года назад
The problem is that you are kind of confused I think and have only a very vague understanding of how they work. All metal detectors can detect gold, all can detect magnets, but some are not designed for the practical conditions of what it takes to find gold. GOld nuggets are only rarely large and often occur in areas of mineralized soils. So a cheap detector that cannot handle mineralized ground or see small nuggets, if you had a giant nugget and mineral free soils, that detector would see the gold - but that is very unusual. Normal conditions are smallish gold and mineralized soils. All metal detectors can use an electromagnetic field and the conductivity of metals to find metals in the ground. Some do it better than others the more expensive ones can handle difficult conditions or see small targets.

This is very interesting! Would you describe the gilding process done on statues, please. Those statues you showed in your video really made me curious as to how it’s done, and how much gold is required in solution to make that work. On a different topic, how far a hike is it on the trail along Mineral Bar in Auburn before you end up on BLM land? The Auburn Recreation folks were unclear about that. Also is it okay to pan gold on BLM land? Thank you very much for making such interesting videos about gold, and thereby increasing my knowledge about how fascinating gold is.

Gold bearing waters (ones with gold chemicals in them) do rarely contact wood naturally. It happens all the time in the big mines that use cyanide but work through old mine workings with old wooden timber supports in them. The wood can be burned and the gold captured from the ash.

Chris; You where trying to say; 'Characteristics of Gold'. *NOTE If 'the Additional elements' are Magnetic & combined in a different type of element which isn't magnetic; that doesn't mean that all the elements are equal; but the Magnetic attraction Only pertains to the Magnetic elements. So a person can't legitimately say; that Gold (Au 79) is magnetic; when the magnetic force of attraction only pertains to the Other elements that can be combined in with Gold. 'Gold isn't Magnetic but can obtain Other Magnetic elements mixed & hardened reducing the Gold Purity amounts'!
@ChrisRalph
@ChrisRalph Год назад
This video is about gold that occurs naturally. It would be impossible to talk about every possible alloy of every possible metal at every possible ratio of combination. You would be talking about millions of possibilities. Naturally occurring gold is not found with a high iron content. Only tiny traces of iron are found in natural gold. So as far as natural gold, no its not magnetic.

Only if you are pulsating the electricity through the coil of the electromagnet, if that is the case you are inducing a tiny electromagnetic field in the gold as I described on the video. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

The Egyptians or those before them originally had gold on the top of the great pyramid. This helped them navigate the seas, when the sun rose and when it settled, there would be a reflection or flash of brilliance for a long moment that extended across the flat earth and they knew where and when to look for this beacon to guide them, maybe!?
