LOL its funny to me because I literally make lots of videos telling people to have realistic goals and not try to be to lean. TO not compare themselves to people on social media. Last night even I recorded a video about Josh Brett specifically on the dangers of Orthorexia. If a person says I promote eating disorders it tells me they dont watch my vids.
@KevinBurciaga

Thanks for watching, Greg. My point is that some of your advice sounds very similar to the behavior of orthorexics and can be easily misconstrued. I'll be sure to check out your video on Josh Brett. And my final verdict is that you DON'T intentionally promote eating disorders but young minds can take this advice too far. See the comments below.

Greg did you even watch the video… I’m a fan of yours but Kevin isn’t saying your advice is promoting EDs, and all you care about is having everyone eat to be your level lean. He’s analyzing some of your advice you consistently put out in your videos, vs simple no none sense nutrition choices. He’s opening up conversation on why obsessing over foods that are only focused on volume and low cal artificial stuff can become problematic for SOME people. Since the majority of people who have EDs or end up with EDs share the same behaviour and diet models.. Its like when you’re constantly saying relationships are with people and not food. Yeah not everyone can relate and just do that.
@KevinBurciaga
@KevinBurciaga 3 года назад
Thanks, Linda. Diets that maximize volume and artificial ingredients and minimize calories can easily turn into an ED. People who obsess over being lean and thin figure out these "tricks" really fast. We don't need to promote these tricks.

I developed my eating disorder shortly after diacovering him, in the beginning of corona is when it started. I would only eat protein "ice cream" and would eat low fat substitutes only never ate nuts or anything not claiming at all he caused it I am the one who directed myself in this but I don't think it helped.

How did you get out of the volume eating mindset? I know I need to eat more fats but after listening so much to Greg's message, I am not willing to have the fat calories take up so many calories. But i feel physically full on all these vegetables, but not satisfied. Something is missing

Same, I definitely had disorder thoughts around food and exercise, but his constant preaching of CiCo and "exercise harder than last time" definitely didn't help😅

@@anagabriela1290 exactly that too. I spent 5 and up hours on the elliptical at planet fitness constantly I felt like it was Greg Doucette's voice yelling at me when I did anything and when I would have a binge and then go back to planet fitness 5 hours and up a day I was also at my all time most frail I was 106 pounds 6'0

Greg's videos have the aim to help people who are trying to lose weight, get healthier and start a fitness journey, so yeah he tells them the tricks to make the sacrifice that it requires more affordable. He always and I mean always encourages gradual healthy and "slow" weight loss and more importantly he stresses very much the need to appreciate who you are in the whole process and from the very beginning. It's your personal choice to lose weight and be healthier, it's yourself that you are loving in the process, you shouldn't do it to please anyone else, but yourself and you have to feel that what you are up to it's right for you! He many time said to set rational goals! I personally don't see any promotion of eating disorders there. He even helps you cope with some actually, because yes of course once you've fully recovered you can keep 12 jars of PB in your pantry and only have a teaspoon of it, but while recovering you might not have enough willpower. So maybe not buying and having something else that is going to keep your "hunger" (we all know it's your emotions) at bait without throwing you again in a binge-restricting cycle sounds like a good way to give people time and space to word on their issues. I appreciate both your and Greg's videos and thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts on these subjects as it is very important to talk about these stuff!

He literally said that he'd force feed himself until he's sick, then wait, then eat some more He isn't a healthy person, he doesn't have a healthy relationship with food Exogenous testosterone is such a huge crutch A few doses of testosterone is good enough to turn a feminine women into a msculinised transgender male So if its good enough to do that the effects are way more effective than he plays it up to be Natural Testosterone constantly fluctuates meanwhile artifical injections of testosterone don't, they stay stable until the next injection. When it comes to caloric density, why do whole-grains have a lower density than refined? I prefer brown rice (the taste and how it feels in my body) but I've read that white rice is lower in calories. I find it a bit confusing tbh.
@KevinBurciaga
@KevinBurciaga 3 года назад
They're about the same but they are slightly lower because they have more fiber. I wouldn't worry about the small difference.

I think he gives excellent advice. I like both your and Greg’s content. I think you may have been a little quick to judge his philosophy. For example he says to eat less fat, not no fat. I think this is just to emphasize eating more carbs and protein which will give you more energy to work harder in your workouts, increase fiber and promote muscle growth. He says he eats good amount of salmon and avacado every day.

You definitely don't watch enough of his videos, I think. He promotes balance in whatever you eat. He's not saying to get rid of the high calorie food. He's suggesting to eat more low calorie foods. He's also stated that you don't have to get rid of your favorite foods. And he also reminds viewers that you need to be able to enjoy your diet in order to stick with it. If your diet is not enjoyable, then it's the wrong diet for you. Balance the low calorie with the high calorie. He knows that people still need to eat at a certain caloric maintenance. It's just that many people who are obese tend to overeat their calories, hence why he heavily promotes low calorie delicious foods. They help get someone to maintenance or slight deficit, by making them feel full faster. He also promotes low calorie foods a lot so that people consider his cookbook. The recipes are generally simple enough, and you don't necessarily need to get it, as he has some videos on some of them. And he does state that you might only need 3 or 4 from them to help you on your goals. And they might provide the template you need to make your own low calorie recipes that taste good. As far as having the real food is concerned, I have to disagree to an extent. If you're poor on controlling how much of it you consume, but the fake one tastes 80 percent as good, and is much lower in calories, and you can still enjoy it and lose weight, take the fake one. That's something one has to take into account. Saying just have the real one is not something you should just say without adding some clause to it.
@KevinBurciaga

Thanks for the nuanced reply. I just find that too many times the "anabolic" approach is all about maximizing volume and minimizing calories, which is exactly what I did when I was orthorexic.

@@KevinBurciaga no problem. And I understand how one can misinterpret what Greg promotes. That's part of why I think he always asks his viewers to watch more of his videos. Watch enough and hopefully viewers see his whole messages. And Greg, unlike many fitness channels, promotes more than just physical health and training. He touches on character, self love, mental health, and so on. He's definitely not the typical RU-vidr.
