Dr seems very genuine and actually cares about patients! He can easily just do transplants on anyone and take their $$. Glad he’s different and advises people against it if he doesn’t feel strongly about it!
Thank you Dr. Gary for the informative video! I have a very thin baby hair on the sides of my head around my ears which I have always hated and was thinking to transplant . I had the idea that after the procedure I'm gonna have crazy thick hair but after watching your video I believe I wont be a good candidate so i will maybe put off this decision for now. Thank you Dr.
I love your videos¡ Could you please do a video for the younger audience talking about the case you mentioned in the minute 03:20 and recommending some medicine, procedure or ways to stop losing hair and make it grow to avoid needing a Hair transplant in the future?
Have to disagree, I was diffusely thinning and still got a hair transplant and it turned out perfect because i was on Dutasteride which was reversing my hair loss.
Thank you dr linkov for all the great info! Do you perform your hair procedures only on the east coast? If so can you recommend someone in Los Angeles? All the best
I’ve started losing hair since 18 and now I’m 31 closer to 32 and I got obvious hair thinning and in some areas bald spots…am I in a good age for hair transplant?
Great Dr. Gary Linkov , I love the passions he is putting in his master work , thinking about to get my hair transplant at you Dr. Gary Linkov , the only issue is get ticket and fly over ))
Hi Dr. Gary. Thanks for the insightful video. I have a question regarding finasteride and dutasteride. Do you think Finasteride or Dutasteride is better to prevent hair loss when both my father, uncle and grandfather is a Norwood 7? They lost their hair in their 20s, and I started losing my hair when I was 18 and I'm 25 now with a receding hairline and thinning in general.
I'm 18 and was thinking to getting a hair transplant when I turned 20 but the point that stood out to me was I should wait until my hairline is framed. My hairline is receding but the middle of my scalp is fine.
I've started receding at 24 and my biggest concern by far is that the middle and frontal of my scalp are both going at the same time. Crown seems to be having no issues and donor seems good and dense as well. I'm also opting for waiting a couple of years, but I fear a lot how I'll look like with only half a head of hair. It may sound weird, but there's even a clear line where alopecia is taking effect: one part is thinned out and straw-like and the other side is dense as hell
I have had trichotillomania for atleast 15yrs. I cut my hair down pretty often because I realized that it really helped with the inflammation. I would say that at the moment I haven’t had a real urge to pull for about 2months and was considering getting hair transplant in the next month. I now feel slightly discouraged like I should wait after hearing you say in cases of inflammation to wit a year. Am really not sure what to do tbh.
I love your channel. Really wonderful. Could you talk about female hair loss? It really sucks & has devastated my self esteem & confidence. I have frontal fibrosising alopecia- still going through autoimmune tests & hormone tests to get to cause, but I am trying to figure out if a hair transplant will work with it or will PRP or stem cells? Which path is right path as right now we went through the shampoos, oral medication nothing worked & my dermatologist just started doing injections of a steroid. (Only 2 so far so not enough to see any change yet.) I am getting nervous as it is well my hairline is now on top of my head & I’ve lost the hair along side of face & some eyebrows & public bone. The one I care most about is my hair line!
As a hairstylist for over 35 years I most often recommend waiting until you are in your 40's before getting a transplant so that by then you have a good idea about how much hair you you will loose.
@@drgarylinkov A 25 year old got his hairline filled in , I met him at 35 and he was completely bald on top except for the one line of hair at the front, I thought he had been in an accident until he explained the story. Is there enough doner hair to cover a bald top part of the head ?
I had an eosinophilic granuloma removed as a kid. The tumor was growing into my skull and would eventually lead to the brain. A surgical scar runs the entire length of my hairline and into the temples. As my hairline receded the scar became more visible. I went years hiding and semi socializing which lead to development issues. Until recently got some relief as I’ve had the scar tattooed. I wonder if insurance would cover fue due to nature of case?
It does work, these blockers (usually finasteride and in even more aggressive cases dutasteride) block the action of an enzyme (5 alpha reductase) that converts testosterone to DHT. The only problem is side effects in some people since at the end of the day youre artificially altering your natural hormone profile.
My hair has fallen off because of seborrheic dermatitis. What is the best option for hair restoration in this condition? I use ketoconazole 2% for sd but I need my hair back :((
@Dr. Gary Linkov: Do you think severe Dandruff on scalp affects hair? Actually I have a very sticky dandruff on my scalp and I believe it comes back quiet easily in 1 or 2 days. And it comes back even after I clean my head during shower. Do you think one should consider treating the dandruff thoroughly before thinking about hair transplant? Highly appreciate your response in advance.
Do you have an opinion on Arnica? It's proven to reduce postoperative bruising and swelling. Not sure if there has been research done in the hair transplant literature.
Doctor Linkov, thanks for all of your wonderful videos. I wanted to ask a question that I haven't been able to find a straightforward answer to. What is the impact of cannabis or THC (smoked, vaped or consumed in the form of edibles) on a FUE hair transplant? My Turkish clinic told me that I shouldn't smoke for 10 days after the procedure but I've seen a variety of responses to this question from different doctors. As common as this substance is in New York and the United States, I wanted to see if you'd answer my question here! Thanks so much -- I know others are wondering the same thing but there doesn't seem to be any solid research or consensus!
What if you’re too young to tell where the hair loss will stop, but you take something like finasteride to halt further hair loss? Would a transplant still be a bad idea?
You want to take it all your life? And what if your hair gets used to it and it stops giving the desired effect. People who start on finasteride often have to keep upgrading their doses or go into dudasteride, and even if you have no concern for your body, at least have some concern for your finances. Let it fall off and then go have a surgery in Turkey to replace it.
@@roncerjani9063 idk where you live but finasteride is cheap where I’m from. Regardless, any decent hair transplant surgeon will advise you to take finasteride to maintain the transplanted hair and prevent you from losing more of the non-transplanted hair. Many surgeons won’t even perform a hair transplant unless the patient has been taking finasteride for a year already. Not to mention the fact that if someone gets to a Norwood 6 or 7 there won’t even be enough donor hairs left to give full coverage at any reasonable density
A good video! How to know if one has active inflammation? So if one gets a hair transplant during this phase, the transplanted hair will fall off? Thanks ahead! Pete :”)
Hello Dr. Gary... I've got a question for you, sir. How many hair transplants have you done in your career? Would you say that is your bread and butter at your clinic? I've seen the device you show in your videos but I've never seen other Doctor speak about that one device specifically
If you have massive thick hair. But are loosing hair at the crown only. Would a transplant make the crown area big wavy and thick like the rest of your hair ?
Hi, I have a bald head, norwood7, I’m 55 and having a HT next Thursday. The Dr has said I have a very good donor area where he has said he can get 2000 grafts for the hair line and 2000 for the crown later and possibly more after for filling in. With your expertise, how should I look after, any examples plz. 👍
New subscriber here. I have alopecia areata as well and have recently been doing some hair transplant research to see if I am a good candidate. Your video has given me some good insight but I have a question. My alopecia has affected my leg, arm, and facial hair, so far. My eyebrows are pretty much gone, and I have lots of bald areas in the beard area. As far as I can tell my alopecia areata has not affected my head hair at all. It seems my thinning on top of my head is just typical male pattern baldness. Do you think getting a hair transplant in my case is a bad idea?
Great question. You need to be very careful for sure. Because like in my personal situation, the areata can eventually effect the head especially if it is already so diffuse and then the transplant would have been a waste.
I’ve been thinking about a hair transplant since 17 this is when I found out about it, 16 is when I noticed how bad my hairline was. As the corners of my head had recessed in, I have the same hair line as my dad(my dad is in his late 50’s and still has a thick coat of hair); now I’m 19 good thing my hair hasn’t changed and in other parts of my hair it still really thick. Do you think it’a better for me to wait more time to seriously considering hair transplant surgery?
You sound like me 5 years ago heh. I started losing hair at 16, and now I'm 24 and shaving my head...it is just horrible. I have the same hair as my dad who is 50 years old and I have worse hair than anyone from my mother's side...I just won a fokin jackpot. Been taking finasteride for 2 months now, only 0.6 mg per day (in Japan they even take 0.2 daily and it works) so let's see whether it slows, stops or even regrows some hair. No side effects anyway, so that makes me happy. Maybe a little bit lower libido but everything works as it should :D
@@naverich4603 hello, i guess it's been 3 months now. Could you please update if finasteride's working for your hair loss? Did you notice any thickness changes or new hair follicle?
@@shivammaurya8472 im in the same boat as you guys 24 and balding. i take 1 mg finasteride since 4 month and the hair fall stopped. but my hair is still thick
I am 22 and you know why i am here hehe, so when should i go in for transplant? Have read it's better to get it done after 25-26. But my question is what if my hair doesn't stop falling even afterwards or in other words when will i get a definite shape of my hairline?
Hi, what can you do to make hair pigment darker naturally, non dying, any super foods or topical applications that will naturally make hair darker to what it used to be when younger?
Your thoughts on "Long Hair procedure" Where you do not shave the whole head only a spot on the back of the head then implant ontop of the head which is NOT shaved. Do you perform this type of procedure?
Hi Doctor Gary can would you believe me that I started losing my hairy when I was 18 years old! It was super hard for me to get used to that now I’m 36 and it doesn’t bother me anymore but I will consider to a a hair transplant
Ok.THIS IS SHOCKING 😅 ….how His RU-vid Game improved. I watched a few newer Videos because he is very cool and Professional and i want to know about what he Has to say about Transplantation and if its fit to me. This seems to be Done with a cellphone 😅
Hi Doctor. I had a poor hair transplant last year. I struggle now to style my hair and it just seems like there are clumps of poorly placed. Would you be open to taking a look at a few photos and videos of my transplant to potentially show me what they did incorrectly and why my hair looks poor in certain areas. I wouldn’t be opposed to you even potentially using my photos to for a video as an example of a bad hair transplant and how to maybe correct it with a repair. I’d really appreciate your insight. Feel free to reach out for my contact info. Thanks!
Can you do a video about women who have hair transplants because of hair loss due to traction alopecia? I think the only famous person known to have it done is Blac Chyna
Hi doctor do you think hair transplant can be done to autoimmune disease scarring alopecia Frontal fibrosing alopecia? 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I’m willing to be on the medications(methotrexate, plaquenil etc) if needed.
Hello doc i started losing my hair at the age of 17-18 mostly in the crown area through the years the front area started shedding and thinning but still much better than the crown area and the donor area seems good to me its very thick and the shedding stopped now for like 1-2 years i just turned 25 am i suitable to have hair transplant ? thank you
Hey Dr Linkov, I was wondering, what would you recommend for somebody who wants to get a hair transplant who isn’t thinning or receding? I’m female and my hairline has always been quite square with a v shape at the temples, otherwise I have a very thick head of hair and haven’t experienced any thinning. I like the idea of a hair transplant as a permanent solution, would you consider doing one for a patient in my position? Thank you!
I dont know how to say in english but i have something that acumulate sebum on my scalp, sebum dermatite or seboreic dermatite i dont know, and five years ago my hair started to fall from corners,i still have alot hair, maybe is not only this condition, maybe can be alopecia, but aniway i want to know if im a good candidate for transplant to cover the corners
Gary, you know your stuff.. I'm just not sure you I understand the diffuse thinning part. What does it mean that you can't make an impact on diffuse hair loss? Like if they're to thin on top
if there's no defined area it just would take too many donor hairs and probably effect the still existing hairs with too much of a shock loss. maybe that kind of hairloss can be stabilized or even reversed with medication, it might even be just down to stress so it'll recover. a definite male pattern hairloss, temples or a bald patch ifor instance, is easier to calculate grafts
@@drgarylinkov Do you mean if I get a guy or woman to donate 10,000 hairs you can put them all on my head? So it doesn't matter that they are not from my head?
Right, other peoples hair has yet to be successfully transplanted to another persons body, the body rejects it. They haven't been able to effectively clone hair follicles yet however. Its the dream cure, unlimited hair follicles to transplant.
Im an 18 year old woman, and I dont even have hairloss, or hair thinning, but i do have fine hair, I was just born with a fucked hairline, and I feel like I just can't live with myself anymore going out like this, I really want a hairtransplant. am I a good candidate?
I have gone through a hair transplant, the problem is now that my transplanted hair are fading away. I want to ask is this normal ? As doctor who proceeded with the transplant told me that they will fade away a than regrow
For the research I have done and video I have seen , they all say That's part of the process usually after a full year after the surgery everything will be back to normal and transplanted hair , will be growing just like it did before
The transplanted hairs stays permanent, The hairs came from a part of Your body with Bald resistance so they don't go bald but the old hairs can still fall off
Dr. Gary, when you get a chance, could you please do a review on fat graft applied to the scalp? It’s my understanding that its gaining popularity in Europe. Thank you
For 6 months up to a year in order to strengthen the new hair. But if you still have hair that may fall off (midscalp and crown) you should take it forever. Hence, wait until the most of it falls off, then on with the transplant.
@@PetroGameplay it is almost impossible to obtain a full head of hair without finasteride even with hair transplants. Your donor area will almost certainly be depleted. So it's effective to get on finasteride and then go for HT. Now, the side effects might kick in but a) the percentage is not that big, about 3-5% of people having sexual sides and b) even if you experience those you might cut the dose, for example take a half of a pill a day
This sucks for me because I have diffuse thinning, and it happened really quickly. I'm doing my best with a strong regimen of medications, but I'm afraid I won't be able to regrow what I lost recently without surgery. My receded hairline doesn't bother me too much because I'm in my 30s, so my hairline looks age-appropriate. What I really hate is the severe diffuse thinning in my front and midscalp. I'm putting my last hopes in dutasteride and oral minoxidil.
Thank you for asking. I have been using the same treatments for over four months, and I haven't gotten any regrowth. It's disappointing. I'm on 2.5mg of oral minoxidil. Maybe 5mg would be better. The only product that I've had success with recently has been Toppik. It makes my hair look great. I look younger and feel more confident because I don't have to worry about people looking at my thin hair. It does a good job of remaining on my hair and scalp. It was raining yesterday when I had to go walking outside. I checked my hair again when I was inside, and the rain didn't budge it at all. My hair still looked very thick and dense. The part I dislike is that it completely comes off when I wash my hair in the shower. Those are the times when I see my diffuse thinning in the mirror. It makes me disgusted with myself and full of self-hatred. I am thinking of going to a hair transplant surgeon for SMP.
I don't think I have lost more hair. I've been using dutasteride since May and oral minoxidil since July. I might be one of those people who maintains hair but doesn't regrow hair from the blockers and stimulants.
If I do the hair implant in a kind of an early stage with finasteride shouldn't it stop the old hair from falling out at some point? At this point It looks like I have hair but I really don't. it's just curls covering my thinning spots but when I take a shower it's over for me. My receding hairline and my temple thinning are flirting with each other. It's receding and thinning really fast like a male pattern speed run. My hair was stable for 8 years with a ketanozol shampoo but mpb decided to fuck me up two weeks ago and now it feels like I have lost %25 of my hair in the last 2 showers I took. I just started finasteride a week ago but I'm afraid it won't be able to catch up as it starts to show effect months later.
