Is Honkai: Star Rail LINKED to Genshin and Honkai Impact 3rd?

Some additional context about the video: This video has few things that are intentionally left vague to help avoid headache and confusion. Specifically regarding the existence of Bubble Worlds/Universes. It is my understanding that within Honkai Impact 3rd specifically, there was an issue with the translations/localization of the words "World" and "Universe." Basically, WITHIN the game of Honkai Impact 3rd, Bubble Worlds refers to stable "leaves" while Bubble Universe refers to fading universes that are not anchored, unstable, and facing imminent destruction. In this video, I have mixed these two terminologies, but in all honesty, it gets overly complicated because we are fixated on the technicalities of words. To put it simply, there are Bubbles that exists as leaves that can eventually lose their stability and fade away. There are also Bubbles that are fading away, that can reattach itself to the tree through methods such as Genius Anchors and others. Again, this is all overly complex, and unnecessary for the overall concept of this video in particular. The exact details are best left for another video or livestream discussion altogether probably. Also, I understand that my interpretation of "Honkai" could possibly be a bit different. This is my perspective from trying to understand the entirety of HoYoverse, rather than specifically focusing on what was presented within the game of Honkai Impact 3rd. It amazes me how this whole Hoyo universe started with just a little jet pack Kiana, fighting her way through the apocalypse to reach the moon

A small correction: Bubble universes =/= leaves on the tree. Living universes, those which still have a chance against the Honkai, are leaves, whereas bubble universes are those which failed/are predisposed to fail against it, and thus they fall into the Sea of Quanta and dissolve like Su's little universe did in Second Key.

Question: When Aether or Lumine say that they used to travel from world to world before, does this imply they used to travel from one bubble universe to another within the same leaf, or from one leaf to a completely another leaf?

This is more of an Honkai 101 than explaining the connection, sensei.

1. Bubble universes aren't leaves, they are dead words in Sea of Quanta. 2. Jarilo VI and Xianzhou Luofu are separate leaves. Homu Labs, clarified this in his ch36 discussion stream.

it's probably be said already but bubble universes are not the same as anchored universes (leaves on the tree), bubble universes are so called because they're free floating in the sea and cannot produce Honkai energy, thus they will eventually "pop" and die unless they can regain an anchor such as the would from Durandal's VN being anchored directly to her soul or Sumaru being bound within The second key it's self

Not to mention - you can catch a glimpse of Dvalin in HI3, in StarRail you can find the Travelers glider, as well as a broken sword that was used by Himeko in HI3, also a subtle nod to Paimon with the text 'How about we explore the area ahead of us later' while inspecting a gate in Belobog. So yeah, the worlds are connected in more ways then one.

I started playing honkai 3rd a year into my genshin journey because i was so curious about these larger concepts and now im in love with it so im onto star rail to gain even further understanding. Juggling 3 hyv games is starting to become a hobby in and of itself Little addition to the honkai theory: seems like honkai is almost like the wall described in the fermi paradox, a point at which civilisation succeeds and thrives or faces complete annihilation. And we dont know if weve hit that wall or if any creature in the existence of our known universe has managed to surpass it.

I really hope that Wendy will be a character in Honkai:Star Rail, cuz I love her so much in Houkai Gakuen/Ggz but they killed her so early in Honkai Impact, I love Venti too (Wendy's alternate self in Genshin) And I hope thet she and Bronya will be friend too

A hint, the word "imaginary" in Honkai in its Chinese version clearly means the mathematical concept "imaginary" number (like the square root of -1).

Thanks for this concise and informative break down of the similarities between the three games. I’d like to add when Otto is looking at bubble universes in the Imaginary tree he sees Dvalin flying through the air, which proves that Genshin Impact Universe is part of the Imaginary Tree. Also from what I’ve heard about StarRail is Welt is the Welt from Honkai Impact, but idk if that’s true or not. Either way I’m super excited about playable Welt. He’s such a badass, his fight against Sirin was one of my favorite parts of the Second Eruption manga.

Nice to see someone mentioned about the concept of Imaginary Tree and Sea of Quata There are too many people have no concept how important of them and give out ignorant conclusion It was so important to separate people understand how story depeply connected with whole universe law and science or just think game story setting bullshit/weird with a lot unknown terms . (Maybe Genshin universe are the bubble universe which going to fall into Sea of Quata Obviously they seems far away as parallel world beside others, Honkai is proportional to humanity culture level we know Durandal travelled many bubble universe at Sea of Quata in HI3 which look more different beside original world culture level)

It's these kinds of hyper-meta connections that makes me love Hoyoverse's games so much! I started with Genshin, and as soon as I hit the lore iceberg's lower levels, I just *had* to check out -Depression- Honkai Impact 3rd. Which I fell in love with! I'm so hyped for Honkai: Star Rail because of these games!

Wow thanks Island for another great video. I just play Genshin since 2.8 and I doubt I'll have time for Honkai anytime soon, but this sated the curiosity that was killing me, just like a certain site sated my urge to Kuru Kuru~ that was also killing me (and now is killing my wrist).

This brings to mind Haxxor Bunny's Origin. From what I recall when we played through her story, at the end, her Bubble Universe was dissolving into the Sea of Quanta, and she was supposed to be a Seed(?) or something. I don't remember how she was able to get onboard the Hyperion, but I definitely recall something about being retrieved from the Sea of Quanta, and/or the bubble universe she came from dissolving, and she being one of the last survivors. I think. >.> It's been so long since I played through it and Can't remember exactly what was said. But it kinda brings to mind where exactly is the (Captainverse) Hyperion cruising? Is it cruising between the leaves of the Imaginary Tree? Or is it fully contained within one of the leaves? This is all very similar to the notion of the YES Beast. The YES is ALL that IS. But, there is also the NO. The NO is NOthing. It Hates the YES Beast, because it is a Reminder of All the NO does not have. So It is in a Constant battle to Kill The YES. Each Cell on the Skin of the YES is a whole universe in and of itself. And there are those that can travel between the cells. They are call Dermal Travelers. They care for the YES Beast and try to Heal that which the NO has damaged/corrupted. If it cannot be saved, then it is Cut away so that it doesn't fester and spread. There's more to it but I'm not an expert on it entirely. Just one that remembers. And this also isn't exactly the place to discuss it. In any case, I am still interested in your take on Haxxor Bunny's Origin, and how she relates to Silver Wolf in Star Rail. Also love how the Captainverse and Star Rail are following the same Ship collecting Travelers to skip around and fix things on other worlds! It's a great Parallel! Thanks!

And how about some 3D models that got transient universe? Such as Raiden Mei = Raiden Shogun Yae Sakura = Yae Miko As well others not so obvious as Nahida = Theresa apocalypse, with their shared voice overs Although this is only noticed if were played on Chinese or Japanese

-Bubble universe is a dead universe that still being consume by sea of quanta -if stair rail only travel to other universe on the same leaves, then hi3 universe is more advance since welt can travel(stranded) to stair rail -the energy in stair rail is like honkai,will of honkai, and herscerr(hard to type) -in hi3 trailer reburn2 welt and caroll is in the train, so it might be that later in the story welt find his way back to hi3 universe

you can find the travellers wings in honkai star rail as a curio in the space station thats why i searched up if the games are linked, theres also paimon references when you try to explore areas you shouldnt yet

Welt from HSR is literally the same Welt from HI3rd. It's a weird story that happens after APHO in a Honkai Manga. HI3rd Himeko's sword fragment was found in HSR as it fell through the Sea of Quanta.

I honestly never thought that Genshin would also be connected to HSR, so it’s interesting that you managed to find connections to both games; props to you, Island. Also, before everyone goes saying “Actually, according to Island, Honkai is…”; I think Honkai is not meant to be understood. It’s like trying to understand 4D as a 3D being. Most explanations regarding Honkai that we’re given in Hi3 are primarily theories, with Island’s explanation being based on Otto’s theory on Honkai being a test of some sort. There are several theories regarding the Honkai, and with the release of the Project Stigma arc, those theories increased further.

Imagine in like 5 years all of the games get to a stage in their story where we combine the worlds and if you have stuff linked they could have it so as your relics artifacts and things like that got destroyed but the characters are brought through to the new game where they could have places we know overturned by the force of the joining of the worlds or something lol

XianZhou LuoFu may have been to Tyvat. If you talk with the npc HuiXing, she will tell you that they had visited a world where fortune tellers using water mirror to watch people's fate(like mona), but it can be useful just because their world has less information for some reason.

IF star rail is just another leaf then why are there curios of deceased Worlds in star rail that belongs to HI3rd and Genshin? My assumption was that Aeons were entities that were born in the space between Worlds (leaves) and Akivili linked all the Worlds in a distant future and we journey a time when Teyvat and HI3rd Worlds have already perished.

Something that I feel like is worth mentioning is that it is believed that Star Rail and Honkai exist on the same branch while Genshin is on a separate branch. This explains why APHO Welt is in Star Rail and what the Astral Express is. From what it seems like the Astral Express is a variant of the divine key used to traverse bubble universes which is how APHO Welt got into Star Rail. This might also mean that given the existence of Star Rail Himeko, Seele and Bronya Honkai Bronya and Seele may be able to meet their Star Rail counterparts but that may be a stretch given that Kiana is now a god and the divine keys may lose their powers so the train may not be able to traverse bubble universes anymore. But at this point who knows given that part one of Honkai is over and Star Rail has yet to begin

Not to mention, welt is no diffrent person in HSR, he is straight from HI3, look at his image when either Warping for him, theres some few shattered glass and theres some character shown such as: Doctor Tesla(From the organization of anti-Entropy) and welt joyce, plus Void archive behind welt himself. My theory is that, since welt tells young himeko a white lie (basically welt killed himeko father and hides the truth), himeko then died,(well ya know ahem. "Final lesson") and so Welt felt a big regret, And in the Alice space manga, (theres so much source) theres also some few easteregg such as The picture of himeko from HSR (and so i think welt using the Cosmic juggernaut or divine key 2, to travel, and then Helps astra express anyway. This tells either because of the regret he felt for the death of himeko(hi3) and the white lie he tell to her about her father death.

So to put this into Pokémon terms the Imaginary Tree and the Sea of Quanta are Groudon and Kyogre who are always fighting and Honkai is Rayquaza who always stops them from fighting.

Though I have forgotten the full context, if you talk to Welt during your time on Jarilo VI, you will have an option to talk to him about the events, and this eventually allows you to ask about his home planet and he mentions the Honkai. Have a god-awful memory, so I literally can't remember what he said.

Well welt is someone from Honkai universe that fought with sirin and then we see genshin wings in HSR universe. My theory is genshin is past, HSR is present and HI3 is the future of HSR like a timeline. Edit: The thing is... It's nothing hard to explain we can see the similarities between raiden ei and raiden mei then the wings hinted in HSR and then welts which he will fight with sirin HOV like he did in comics. I can clearly tell that it's not the concept of universe but more like a concept of time.

I heard rumor that in patch 1.3 of Star Rail, the world of Teyvat is going to be added and we can visit parts of Mondstat. My first question would be; when in the Genshin time line would our visit be then? During the archon war? Before it? After all the events of Genshin? Who knows. Probably something early on or else we would be getting indirect spoilers of how Genshin plays out. The next question becomes; Based on what Star Rails explains in terms of lore and world building, can we use any of that to make educated guesses about Genshin's grand story? Can we put any new theories to the table yet?

With how Genshin's world is designed I'm starting to think that instead of a Leaf of the Imaginary Tree Genshin's Irminsul is just a miniature Imaginary Tree and Teyvat is a landmass at the bottom of the Large Imaginary Tree. That's why they got some weird ass laws and rules unlike the other mihoyo titles that have Sci Fi laws, and the Forbidden Knowledge in Genshin is just the Laws of the Large Imaginary Tree seeping into Teyvat.

Bubble universes aren't leaves. They are dead worlds that reformed in the Sea of Quanta

Let's just say that HSR is an alternate universe but this universe have the ability to traverse different universe, basically reached the peak of their technology, reason why there are some links like a Windglider, Himeko's Broken Sword Shard etc. Why I think they are not connected but related is. HSR is a total counterpart of HI3 if Honkai never concurred the universe but rather was controlled and used for the advancement of Humanity instead. For Genshin's case, They are also a counterpart but it's an HSR Case as well, Honkai never got through at all, in fact it never existed, but what made Genshin is what we genshin players theorized is Primordial One, the First who came, that made the whole universe of genshin. The reason why we see so many similarities Like Ei and Yae Miko and Mei and Yae Sakura although this is just my theory, but it might be correct (I commented this before I watched the Video)
