I have a graduate level certificate in HR-though I don't work in HR. It's the only department where people will actually work harder to avoid helping you than if they would actually just help you in the first place. They also don't believe in following through or following up with anything. Also, if you are male then don't even bother trying to get into that department. The sad part is I have only had to deal with them for either system issues, accessing training or updating my personal information-and even those things HR made an incredible headache. I can't even imagine how inept they would be if I actually had a problem with a co-worker.
I don't want to undermine your experience because I know that there are HR professionals that aren't helpful and create challenges in the organizations they work for. My hope is that creating videos like these provide greater opportunities for future HR professionals who have good intent and desire to see the workplace improve. I also hope that if you have a goal to enter HR you are able to use some of the guidance on this channel to do so. We have so many amazing HR professionals who are men and I hope you have the opportunity to make the leap also! :)
