Is Hubert Davis The Guy For UNC Basketball? 

Went to a national championship. Won ACC regular season. Had an all American. Won ACC coach of the year. All in three years. Who has done that in three years. No one. I hate this question.

I'm surprised anyone would question Davis as the right coach for Carolina. UNC is now a consistent national power, finished top four in the polls, was just a minute away from moving into the National Final Four Championship, won the ACC regular season, and consistently brings in McDonald's All Americans and elite talent from around the world. There really shouldn't be any doubt.

Who else better for the job that's IN the family?

Yes Hubert is definitely the guy for Carolina basketball. Our whole coaching staff played for either Dean Smith or Roy Williams at Carolina and they are doing a really good job. There wasn't much if any fall off when Roy suddenly retired and HD took over. If Bacot doesn't sprain his ankle we win a Natty against Kansas in year one. Season two there was absolutely no chemistry from day one and it was like they had a hangover from losing the Natty. Season 3 everyone leaves over the summer thru the portal but HD and staff went out and replaced everyone with better players and we had a great regular season and just lost by 2 to a hot Alabama team in the sweet 16. If Bacot doesn't miss the dunk or RJ hits just one three we win and probably go to another final four. Great recruiting class coming in for next season and a bunch of key players back for season 4 and with the right center in the portal and Carolina is right back in contention for another National Championship! Go Heels!!

Yes he is the guy. Is he perfect? No. But he is also learning and doing a better job year to year. And he is the kind of guy who can go back and see where he messed up. He has to stay and keep building on.

UNC should have gotten Nate Oats, but I get that Ol' Roy wanted his legacy to be the first black head coach at UNC and I also get that they wanted to keep it "in house." Interesting bar bet: who turns to an "outsider" head coach first, Duke or UNC?

there's no controversy over this. the only people questioning him are those who are ignorant and don't know the game plain and simple or they're just fair-weather fans. if you're not content with a coach that made the national title game in his first year and then in his third year won the regular season ACC and was a number one seed with one of the better years we've seen in a long time. then your expectations are even beyond realistic for Even a great program like Carolina.

My apologies, I yapped to soon. I agree with u 💯. I think he is very close to having the depth and rotations we want to see. I want one of those guys all in at first and it took until this year's team for me to be all in on HD. Some of his play calling this year was phenomenal. He's only getting better and he is the perfect coach for our team. Love his passion and faith, it will attract the type of guys he wants. Pretty good so far.. I'm subbing too BTW lol

All coaches are GREAT when they win, they are horrible coaches when they lose. Fan mentally !!!

I was going to sub, but this is absolutely mind-numbing to even be a topic. He 1000% is the right man, he is in his 3rd year and we had a hugely successful year. He's only getting better, and imo has improved at a quick rate. Everyone forgets that when Dean and Roy took over, it took 4 years to do what HD has done in 3. This time and age in CB, that is a huge accomplishment. Plus the all Carolina Staff he has, the recruiting. Cmon, if u aren't behind HD, what are you doing?!?!?? We lost by 2 on RJs worst game of his career, not HDs fault, he can't shoot for them. Unfortunately lol

I love Hubert, but it was his decision making that cost us the Sweet 16 game vs Alabama. Hopefully he learned from it.

His second year will omit that on a third year Wanda ACC. It was the number 1C. N NCAA tournament going to the sweet 16. And you cannot blame him for R. J, which I do not blame either foregoing. I notice in oir society people take a narrative and beat it in the ground. Schemer has had McDonald's All Americans and other than ACC Championship. He hasn't had any success compared to the talent Hubert has.

It’s is still to be determined. We have to remember that he is still young. How many top level coaches started off worse? He has earned time 2-3 more years to see how he does longer term recruiting, transfers and coaching. I believe he is going to be really good long term.

Let's not question a coach that has zero positive input during a game. He recruits well, but the players are on their own during a game. He might call a timeout, after a team gets up 10 points. I have watched other coaches call inbound plays ect that work repeatedly because they found a flaw in the opponent. Davis is not even willing to correct how we deal with screenings to get shooters open.

He's not a defensive minded coach nor is he good with substitution any chance to show favoritism to certain players
