Let them be separate. Ioniq7 should be good since it's meant to be Santa Fe size. They could then make an Ioniq 9, which would be palisade or bigger

Personally I would rather have C-segment hatchbacks like the old Hyundai I3 and the original Ioniq, only with 300 mile WLTP and faster charging.

The unwritten successor to the Niro EV is the EV5. The EV3 will be smaller and the successor to the Soul EV, the same size category as the Volvo EX30 or Fiat e600. Also, Kia and Hyundai have already split their future strategies with the PBV series, there is no need to have a similar lineup for both brands, much like Genesis they have a separate product lineup and only share technology.

I was hoping that the Hyundai “Ioniq 3” (if it ever appears) will be the Hyundai version of the Kia EV3 and the “Ioniq 4” will be the Hyundai version of the the Kia EV4.

EV6 vs IONIQ 5/6… I feel like the EV6 is more wagon/sedan than SUV/crossover, so EV6 lines up okayish compared to IONIQ 6. More like IONIQ 5.5 between the two. In the end though it doesn’t really matter.

My understanding was that for the Ioniq models, the odd numbers meant it is an SUV/Crossover and the even numbers meant it is a sedan. The numbers would then describe the size so a 3 would be smaller than the 5 and the 7 would be bigger than both. This could imply they want to make a smaller one between the Ioniq 5 and this one where originally they wanted to make one even bigger. I also thought for Kia, they were doing the opposite where an even number meant SUV/Crossover and an odd number meant Sedan when it came to the EV# lineup.

Happy to see more of the EV3, but I'm most excited to see what Hyundai does with the EV5 base. If they don't bring that to the US market then they don't know this market at all.

I know I really don’t get it. The EV5 looks more like the typical American small crossover than the EV6 does. And the EV4 looks basically identical to the EV6.

There’s no reason it should. You’re using an accessory connector for a device that does the same thing that the trailer light wiring harness does (listening for signals and sending signals to the cars low speed data network)
