Paldea Evolved is the only booster boxes from Scarlet & Violet I am currently picking up but I am watching out for good deals on Paradox Rift. As for 151 I am not sure how well booster bundles will do in the future. Not really any data from the past to look at. I do think Japanese 151 will do very well long term. I think Singles for English 151 will be the way to go. Booster box investing is king and I just don't invest in special set alternate products. Sucks because just the thought of a Crown zenith booster box sounds amazing.
I just got back into the hobby last September or October so pretty much missed the sword and shield train. I absolutely love scarlet and violet though. I just bought my first case ever and it’s of temporal forces. My next pick up will be paradox rift.
Same exact boat. As someone out of the hobby for 20 years I feel like I have a pretty unbiased opinion on SWSH and S&V and I gotta say S&V first half is blowing SWSH first half out of the water
I really liked the SV era and honestly there’s a lot of cards. I’m trying to add to my collection. I love when I can get some special illustration a fairly cheap price. I know collecting singles isn’t really much of an investment but I just want them in my collection.
I’m strong on 151, came back in the game after hearing this was being released with all of the OG Pokemon. Currently English Master with all exclusive promos Eu/states + All of the big hits in Japanese collected. I’m now pushing into Graded 10’s and Master balls, in 5-10 years time I’m confident the value of 151 will be worth it. The hype train for it will continue to run
Great vid! I came back into the hobby after 151. Love your content - it’s helped educate me a lot. A question for you: what do you think about the potential of 151 UPCs vs booster bundles? Trying to think about which is a better long term investment since there are no booster boxes. Thanks a lot, keep up the good work! :)
I would love to hear Jace's thought as well but in my opinion the UPC is the best 151 product but I think the ETB is going to be the product with the biggest gains and I am not an ETB investor. I think the mini tins will be 2nd with booster bundles 3rd and UPC since it is so big will follow close behind these smaller products. I do think the 2 collection boxes, binder & poster boxes will all do well.
I would love to hear this as well! I have both! Love the upc how it looks and the promos but do love the ease and convience of the booster bundles. Easy to store and ship. I think having both is 🔑
temporal forces and 151 hands down. paldea will do well too. the other 3 id pass. I think twilight masquerade will be above paradox rift but below paldea evolved.
I don't think S&V has been a game changer by any means, but I also think people are overstating how "weak" S&V has been. S&V era has fantastic IRs and SIRs. It will age just fine as the years go along. People are expecting these massive era defining hits like the second half of both S&M and SWSH when we're just in the first half of S&V. These S&V sets will age way more gracefully than the Guardian Risings or Vivid Voltages. The biggest reason why everyone is sleeping on S&V right now is because they're all FOMOing on the alt arts, not because S&V has been bad.
I think temporal forces is overrated and card prices are going to continue to drop pretty significantly. If you look at the current 2 month timespan compared to paradox rift, I'd argue that paradox rift actually held it's value better in the first two months. Paradox rift currently has more cards over $10, even though it has fallen a ton overall. It seems like the value of most sets now depend on the biggest chase cards (fusion strike) but I don't think temporal forces will be able to hold up with the future and ancient SIRs (and a gengar trainer card).
I think S&V is at best 25% as good as Sword and shield at the moment. Such lack lustre artworks for the mainpart, forgettable Pokémon and sets and easy pull rate in comparison
