Not really. Dana left this program with nothing. Why do you think he left after going 8-4. Name another coach that takes a step down in schools he coaches at after going 8-4? which at the time Houston was in a knock off conference not a power 5 like they are now in the Big 12. Then you had Covid and NIL two things not part of the original deal. It took time but the program is getting better by the day and the next set of recruits will continue that trend. (ISU fan here) Really good analysis. This will be a "prove it" type game for ISU. One thing that wasn't mentioned is our injury issues at LB. We're down legitimately 5 line backers that would otherwise play. We also started a bit slow on offensive line (2 injured OL have returned). As far as playing from behind, I'd say we are VERY comfortable (See the Iowa game). Pass pro has been good for us so far. I'm hoping for a good game. WVU is my favorite opponent fanbase.

But this will be the best defense WVU plays this year. ISU and K State would boat race Penn State. Penn State will not be the best team you play this year. Need to factor pace of play in the offensive stats. Iowa State is like 90th in the country in plays per game, but 27th in yards per play. They play slow, so games are always close for the first half
Did y’all watch the Iowa State game vs Baylor last week? Or just look at the score? You would’ve surely remembered it was a night game if you did. Also what a weird way to phrase that a team scored 21 points… “Baylor almost had 28 points but then they didn’t and they got controlled in the second half.”
Penn St prepared WV for a game like this. Iowa st has no great wins if WV dont beat themselves an don't lay back in that zone which we have lost a lot of games in we should win.
Can't compare the Iowa State stats against terrible teams. Iowa State stats are fools gold. Did they beat a ranked team? People act like Iowa State is a national championship caliber team. Nope!!! WVU only loses if they beat themselves. Iowa State is not good enough to beat WVU on its own.
I feel like you blinded by biased team love, Iowa state is good and they are better than WVU in many ways. I feel as if it’s the opposite, if Iowa state shoots themselves in the foot then West Virginia can pull it off.
