Because logically you can't conclude if a religion is peaceful or not by observing so-called adherents to the religion, since you could only judge the religion by the values it advocates and the values written in its scriptures. If a verse from the Quran says "Allah does not forbid you from dealing kindly and fairly with those who have neither fought nor driven you out of your homes. Surely Allah loves those who are fair." 60:8 And all verses saying kill the infidels wherever you find them are about specific cases of early Muslims getting persecuted in the Arabian Peninsula and these verses tells them to kill the people that drove them out of their homes and fought them. To conclude that since so-called adherents to a religion are doing violent acts therefore the cause is the religion is a logical fallacy which is assuming the cause. I'm from Israel and I agree with every thing, and that why israelis (among many other reasons) understand, love and support India and its people- because we know how it's to be surrendered by Muslims and have them within your country. I studied what you mentioned twice. Israel didn’t follow God commands all the way and at the end Judah and Israel got exiled as they offended God for worshiping idols performing child sacrifice for generations. Gods plan was for Israel to be pure apart from neighboring idol worshiping countries hence the elimination; also God never punishes on day one. God has given those Cannonites 400 years to repent as Israeli was still in Egypt as slaves yet their sin isn’t stop but escalating. As the other replied Jesus came to complete the external laws teaching ppl to walk away from those who don’t believe through him the salvation is complete. The Old Testament is always a mirror as when we don’t follow the commands all the way little sinful thought will creep up as weeds growing through concrete. Hope this help with insight.

No religion, if truly followed (which thankfully most are _not_) is peaceful. It is about death. Whether the forced death of Jesus or that of infidels. And don't get me wrong, while Islam is especially pernicious and when followed fundamentally especially egregious, Christianity is also breathtakingly violent, but Christians typically do not at all follow their religion "by the book" - which is where the New Testament is so convenient! Anyways, religion, when not practiced absolutely is not troublesome. But when it is followed to the letter, jihad typically follows.
