I shouldn't have watched this before I go to sleep, now all I can think about is my bladder slowly filling

The dislikes are from teachers who don’t want students to go to the bathroom

Holding your urine for too long can weaken the bladder muscles over time. This can lead to problems such as incontinence and not being able to fully empty your bladder. Holding your urine for extremely long periods of time can also cause urinary tract infections due to bacteria build-up.

Instead of asking: "can I go to the bathroom?", Inform them: "excuse me, I have to go to the bathroom". Don't wait for permission. You are not in prison.

They should show this to the school systems, a lot of kids constantly have to hold it in during the day because the teachers won’t let them go and there isn’t enough time in between classes.

When I hold my pee for too long, after I go, I still have a strange feeling like i have to pee even if I don't

The meanest thing I ever heard of was a teacher my grandmother had in elementary school. The teacher would not let any of the children leave class to use the bathroom. My grandmother refused to be like other kids who wet their pants. She held it. And held it. When she got home she found she couldn't pee at all. They had to take her to the doctor.

Our maths teacher had this policy of "not asking permission when you need to go just get up and leave". Good times.

I've walked out of class several times because I had to desperately relieve myself and the teacher(s) just wouldn't let me go. One of them ended up contacting my parents and in the meeting with them said he was disappointed they didn't "teach me manners" because I had been "extremely disobedient" towards him and other teachers. When asked what I had done my dad requested to meet the headmaster with all the other teachers that had a problem with me and berated them. That was an amazing day :)

Wish you would have addressed UTIs and bacteria that can build up from holding your pee, too, but this was a fantastic animation

I got a UTI from having to hold my bladder at school. Bathrooms were closed during lunch due to vaping. And my teachers had a bathroom pass system in place. You got extra credit if you didn't use them.

... so my parents weren't lying when I was little that my bladder could explode if I didn't go to the bathroom... oh.

“Holding it” for too long too frequently as a child partly caused me to develop bad bladder infections and I had to be on different medications for 2+ years and regularly have an Urodynamic evaluation- painful procedure where they insert a catheter and fill your bladder with water until your body forces you to release it to test bladder pressure. I also came very close to having a major surgery but thankfully the right combination of medications helped. Fun times.

As someone who has never pissed once in their life, i can confirm.

This question runs through my mind at night while in bed not wanting to get up..

When I was in my third grade, I had to pee quite frequently which I couldn't help it. My teacher hated it. Once she walked in and I really had to go pee. I asked her permission and...she just slapped my face so hard. I was a small kid. I didn't say a word. I didn't tell my parents. I literally had no friends. I went back of the classroom and cried in silence. My cheek got red print from her tight slap because I wanted to pee. I am 25 now and I remember every bit. I'll never forget her.

I had an elementary teacher who always said no to kids when they ask to go to the bathroom. Especially after the break. "You can't go now, because you had a break and you should use your breaktime to go the toilet. Wait untill the next breaktime" she always said. At a very young age I knew it was wrong but what can a kid do against sick minded adults? + As if I chose voluntarily to go to the toilet after the break. One day I just couldn't hold it, so I asked and she said "NO". So I decided myself to not listen to someone else when it comes to your own health. So, I went to the toilet and the next day I was punished and I was invited to PRINCIPAL with my parents.

As a teacher, this is why I allow my learners to go to the bathroom

Me literally in class and having to go to pee: “Mrs.Bertha, can I go pee?” Mrs Bertha speaking: “NO, why did YOU NOT GO AT PASSING TIME”

I thought the narrator said, " the average human should pee 65 times a day"

They need to show this to teachers.

I remember I was too shy to even use a public bathroom. I will never forget in 9th grade when I held my urine from morning to the end of the day.. omg I almost peed myself last minute. But thank God an Angel sent someone to open the door for me so I can go. And thank God I didn't receive damage or an infection.

From personal experience, yes. Holding your urine leads to it being harder to hold it, and could lead to a UTI. I have Autism, so for a while when I needed to hold it due to working remotely in the forest, my brain forgot I needed to use the restroom... and yeah. Don’t do that.

When I was in elementary the teacher taught us that human body can be trained to adapt, such as hunger, lung capacity, etc. Then I randomly dropped a question "how bout our pee bladder?" but she just avoided my question and respond "if you want to go to the toilet just ask normally"

I hold it in for at least 9-10 hours a day because of school 😭

"Is it bad to hold your pee?" Short answer: If you're in a public place or transportation and there isn't a bathroom nearby...YES, definitely, absolutely. Hold your pee.

The daughter of a friend of my wife had a motorcycle accident and broke her leg. Problem was she also burst her bladder in the crash as she was desperate for a wee. The leg would have mended ok, but the bladder injury became infected and it killed her, so don't hold it in.

Is there any explanation on why our bladder can hold when we rush to the toilet but as soon as we step on the toilet floor, our bladder burst immediately even though we haven't even reach the toilet bowl?

When your teacher doesn't allow you to go use the bathroom: "Well, I bet you didn't know that if you don't go pee for long enough, that can cause your bladder to explode? If that happens and I need surgery, you're paying my medical bills cuz I don't have insurance."

I had a bed wetting problem when I was younger. They taught me how to subconsciously hold it while sleeping. I got in the habit and then at 19 got a kidney infection from always holding it too long. Learned that while you sometimes have to hold it there is such a thing as "too long". Which isn't good.

One time I had to hold my pee for 6-7 hours because I was afraid of asking to use the bathroom (in school)

Man I was 14 y/o and in my class we aren't allowed to go to washroom between lectures. I was holding my pee for so long that I started to lose consciousness. Thankfully I got the courage to ask and teacher after looking at my face and condition said "You can go". Thank God no one looked back at my bench and teacher actually got the idea after seeing my face. Man I thought Im done here. The thing that boosted my fear was, before this incident I read about a physicist whose bladder exploded because of holding the pee for a long time. Well now only those who are reading this know the incident.

All I can say is: *My Teacher caused me to pee my pants twice cause I don’t wanna explode*

This year I developed contamination OCD, and started to hold my pee for really long stretches of time because I was scared of going to the bathroom and spend 2 hours washing my hands. During these months anyway I gradually became unable to hold my pee for such long periods, and even if now I'm quite fine and not scared of anything, just a bit lazy, I think this really bad habit has come to damage my body: right now any tiny amount of urine causes me to feel like I'm about to let a waterfall out, it's painful, urgent and really annoying; when I get to the bathroom running, it turns out is just a normal or even fewer amount of pee. Surely there might be something else going on, and I will get visited, but yes guys, treat your bladder with respect!!

I hate when I laugh too hard unexpectedly and I end up peeing a little >.

I feel bad for all of you with bad teachers, my teachers are always very willing to let us go, and I never have to wait for more than ~5 to go.

I am a teacher and I believe children must not be stopped to go to bathroom. Stopping can lead to urinary tract infections.

I really enjoyed watching this. It made me smile and laugh. I also enjoyed reading some of the comments as well and was reminded of my kindergarten teacher who said no to me when I asked to go to the bathroom. Mr. Dupree said no and I released and pee'd before him and my classmates. Mom was called in to pick me up. The next day, I knew my classmates were going to make fun of me, but they didn't. They just said, you missed a birthday party after you left 😊

Yes, I once had to hold back going for a pee whilst on a bus journey from urlingford ( a town in the Midlands of Ireland) to cork city it was painful and when the bus arrived in cork I found it was difficult to walk off the bus as I was getting sharp stabbing pains in my kidneys and was sweating quite a bit, I eventually got to the toilet and all was good again, but it is no joke it was a painful 2 hours

The timing of these recommendations still amaze me till this day.

My cousin dared me when I was 5 that I couldn’t go a day without peeing...he was wrong I went 2 days...and then weeks later I had to go to Texas Children’s for a week after going into sepsis from a Kidney Infection😅 Don’t recommend not peeing....

I try to get my blood sugar tested every year or so because, when I was six years old, I developed a severe UTI due to a congenital kink in my urinary tract. My only symptom was bed-wetting, so my doctor at the time ignored my mother's pleading to do a test because she knew something was seriously wrong. He told her I was doing it on purpose and to punish me. Then I stopped feeling when I wet myself in the daytime. The doctor finally ordered the test to shut her up and they found I was moving into severe kidney failure. The infection was everywhere. I was hospitalized for a week to both treat the infection and undergo surgery to fix the kink in my tract. The infection had spread everywhere in my pelvic region, including my female organs. (If I never have kids, I'll know why.) I was lucky because I was days away from dying, but the one leftover issue I have is the fact that I have to visit the bathroom. A lot. It gets so that I will severely limit what water I drink to keep from more frequent visits when I'm at work. I go at least three times at night. My current doctor knows this, and agrees with my assessment that I should get my blood sugars checked yearly because my need to go so often would mask an important symptom of diabetes, should I ever develop it. I am fairly healthy and eat well, but it pays to be cautious.

I tell my kids the same thing my mom told me as a kid. Never ask someone to use the restroom, just go. In school I would just get up and walk out the room and tell them I was going to the bathroom. I would get in trouble by some teachers at the beginning of the years but then they would all realize im just gonna go anyways and they all stop caring
