Based on my experience, the reason for Khaleed's low use rate isn't because his DMG or reaping ability, but rather because he is a too "frame-dependent" like Chou. If you are a Chou user, you can feel the difference between playing on 5ms ping and playing on 60+ ms ping. Same for Khaleed. For Khaleed, the poblem lies on his passive and 1st skill interaction. Optimally, as the tip said at 6:45, the 1st skill was casted IMMEDIATELY after the enhanced basic attack, as Elgin does thorough the video. This allow him to immediately damage and then continue chasing your enemy. The problem is when you try doing it on lower internet speed AKA high ping or on lower frame rate, the 1st skill will be delayed, even though you press it immedieately, causing you to miss and the skill go on CD. This can be quite fatal, since his 1st skill is basically his bread-and-butter. If you don't believe me, you can test it by comparing the feel between : using Khaleed on Custom Classic VS using Khaleed on Normal game (because custom classic isn't affected by internet speed). You really can feel the difference. So, Khaleed was just too inconsistent and device-dependent (whether framerate-wise or ping-wise) for your average game. This update DID make him better since his passive now bring you closer to the enemy. His kit was also quite good for this patch too. I hope Moonton continue optimizing his mechanic rather than tweaking with his damage
Wow that's interesting! I never thought about that and I can say it does make some sense.i had a lower winrate with chou when I was playing with low fps but I downloaded game booster and I'm so much better
To be very honest he is a really good side laner in right hands, his 1st skill and execute can kill any squishy hero in early game and plus his 2nd skill Regen is insane as well but enemy can easily cancel it with CC, It's just he lacks damage he can't finish targets and dies in team fights.
With khaleed you can actually tank an entire wanwan ultimate with his 2nd skill. Minimal damage. Most heroes can't really do that and need to use winter truncheon.
How could dare could anybody forget DJ Khaleed, truly one of the guys in the land of dawn Jokes aside, this buff is decent at best, the base dmg nerf on his 1st skill in late game prob wasnt super necessary cuz he alrdy lacks it in late game. As well as the single target passive, he now no longer is able to clear waves faster now the aoe one is removed in exchange for higher slow on just a single target. I guess they really just want him to be a TRUE early game hero? Overall, not much else he got besides faster 1st skill and very slight pull, better early game dmg but even worse late game dmg, hope they improve him more
I honestly feel like he's pretty solid, atleast in my experience using him, he still carries deadly early game damage, and it definitely pays off if you know how to harass your enemies properly, and his 2nd skill is just the fountain built into him, he was definitely designed to not easily go back to base and it's pretty cool
The buff in Khaleed's passive and first skill is a huge help for him (especially in XP lane) since he almost relies to them the most, whereas the 2nd skill and Ult is for his survivability. 5:43 I think the reason is because of his new enhanced basic attack output from 'AOE' to a 'single-target' which was explained in 1:35
He is a pretty solid pick right now. He has good early game potential, can clear lanes fast, he can also deal and sustain dmg at the same time (he's also flexible at roles). He has all the things that makes an exp laner good, but I think the reason why he's not popular is because most of the playerbase only follow what's popular (based on my experience as a Mythic Player). Players only follow what streamers, youtubers and pros think are the best, they aren't creative to make their own strategy, build, setups and etc. I broke off from this banwagon, now I make my own builds, emblems and setups based on my playstyle and preference. Most of my builds and emblems are strange (I like using Weapon Master on JH for example), but it works really well if you're creative.
Would be cool if his ult can like enhance his abilities like sand being left on the ult point and increasing the range, damage, heal of the skills but the sand will get decreased as more sand is used
Early stage of the match he really stands out but in the late game, you better convert his damage item to tank item to have more sustainability and use him as a tank and make your enemy use their skills.
I think (about girls) having bloodlust axe as damage item and the rest should be defence items in late game. Bloodlust axe + Oracle works amazing on Khaleed and Terizla for some reason.
Imo you still need some damage item if you have tank as your roamer or you have huge team advantage. I usually use him to take care the backline, with just 2 damage item you can one shot their mage and marksman and can still tank with your 2nd skill afterwards.
@@AlveousXD bloodlust is good but personally i dont really see it healing him much i usually just get hunter strike to get away and heal but this is dependent on the enemy
The reasons why I find it hard to like Khalid are because his 1st and 2nd skills can easily be cancelled. And his ultimate is way too easy to dodge, compared to other ults with CC.
Khaleed main here .. I could agree with elgin about his "shadow nerf" .. especially the splash damage , sure he got a buffed dmg in the early and slightly faster skills , additionally the length of his enhanced basic attack is increased... But his old enhanced basic atk is better.. well here my reason , if you are facing a tank upfront and there a low hp enemy behind it , you could hit/kill the enemy without "directly" hitting the low hp enemy with the splash damage .. not to mention about his late game dmg is reduced by 40 .. yeah , that is alot .. gonna be hard to use him if you are not playing aggressive in the early.. But I'm not complaining though. Overall I think his "buff" seems more like a balanced adjustment.. ( It's just my opinion though , different users different play styles I guess.. )
He’s a sand man. I remember him the most especially when he was popular back then, I remember when he use his second skill, he’s almost unkillable and his first skill swing 5 time... yep that was he prime time back then, the good ol’ day
His 50% dmg reduction againts minion and junggle make him kinda slow when clearing minion on the late game. And above all his dmg is almost non existence on late game. He only good on early to mid game.
Id say let his 1st skill spin be controllable. Meaning hell spin 3 times even without hitting enemies and you can cancel it whenever you want in order to run away if they ever dodge his 1st. He is too 1st skill reliant and can be easily outsmarted unlike skill reliant type of fighter like terizla who can fight face to face because he can throw most of his skills. With khaleed missed first skill is almost. Equals death.
Hallo, a not-so-expert-khaleed-main here. His passive does feels a bit weird since it no longer does bigger aoe damage, but maybe they do it because it's the only way to make khaleed approach really closely instead of just poking (or maybe because it's not much of an effect on crowded and wanna focus on approaching a target, idk im no dev) Oh, a note regarding 1st skill little trick, it's near impossible if you don't have really good ping. I'm talking like 2-10ms kinda ping. I play with around 40-80ms, and boy it's just not working. Khaleed is indeed a strong early-game sidelaner, with his 1st skill being fairly painful and has pretty low cd for a painful aoe. You might not notice it since it only does 50% on minion (and creep I think? Idk I forgot), but I assure you, it's quick and deals damage even in late game. However, I personally think he won't be popular among the meta. Yes, he deals damage, pretty tanky, self-sustain side-laner, and surfing on sand but looking at the amount of cc in the meta, he isn't gonna last long. His 1st skill is already ok, his 2nd skill needs something to combat those cc, even a slight knockback cancels it. His ult is already balance, although he gets a bit vulnerable to damage during that. Overall, a strong fighter, but not gonna be a popular pick. Mind you that this is just my personal opinion regarding khaleed. Take it with a grain of salt and don't take it too seriously (no like fr u gotta chill for once)
When the first time he released, its go pretty well, basic thing happend, got nerfed, got buffed. But he started being forgotten due to new hero, new items adjustment and goes on. Plus, he become kinda useless in the late game somehow. Dont get me wrong I love Khaleed and his damage, but sometime he easily get countered
His old passive used to send sand in a straight line which slows the enemy and increases your movement speed when you walk on it. They made it shorter before the buff and removed the extra slow & speed up after the buff
What i loved in the update is...the basic attack with passive is now closer to enemy=can now easily petrify + ulti for sure kill. Especially helpful on turtle fights to burst their retri holder
The reason his enhanced basic attack doesn't do splash damage is because as stated earlier in your video his passive no longer lingers on the ground and instead focuses on a single target since in the past if a target is hit by his enhanced basic attack his passive would put sand on the ground making it that if there is nearby enemies that is nearby the target hit by the passive the sand bounces on them as well. Sorry for the bad English haha
For being a Khaleed user I think he needs a little more buff. Khaleed 2nd skill could be just like bane 2nd skill auto heal u don't even need to do anything or he gets a cc immune. And I hope Khaleed gets a Collab skin of Aladdin 😂
Its A slightly good adjustment cause of speed and they only use it on Sun or Xborg Cause Khaleed Can Dmg Sun Multiple Which Makes Him Picked When Sun Is Picked on the Enemy
Khaleed is still a solid fighter. In the laning phase, he can even go toe to toe with other S-Tier sidelaners such as Esmeralda, Dyrroth, Paquito, Thamuz, Masha, Yu Zhong and Uranus. He is a strong hero in the right hands, but his limitations and weaknesses are well quite simple, anti-heal and strong cc such as stuns, airborne, transform, frozen, and suppression. His late game is decent but like Jawhead and Balmond, he will likely rely on the teams damage because now he will act as the 2nd tank of the team. S-Tier sidelaners such as Esmeralda also face that issue, but with them they can still take down marksmans and mages with ease and quickly while sustaining a lot, Khaleed can do that but others can do better.
I think Khaleed's buff will not be that really enough to make him popular but still the developers made a reasonable adjustments on the buff and still Khaleed is a balanced hero. You quite have a good Khaleed gameplay Elgin! Lodi!
What's fun with him is he is actually a very decent counter pick for Melissa, his first skill can pull her from her bubble And once she wastes her dash to push you, you can heal with the second skill to neutralize the damage, and now that Melissa's only choice is to escape, your ulti can ruin that chance
That splash damage of his passive skill makes lane clearing more easy but why did they removed it? He's first skill is also nerf but high physical damage with 50% damage to minions
Not enough. Khaleed's main source of damage is his 1st skill. 1st skill should have CC immunity similar to Martis. It should also not require to hit enemies to be continuous. At least make it continuous regardless of enemy/creep hit but only increase damage when it hits enemies/creeps Khaleed's sustain skill, 2nd skill should be adjusted as well. Moving Khaleed from position quickly cancels the skill. It should be hard CC skills like Eudora's Ball lightning, Guin's airborne. Right now it can be cancelled with skills that move his position like when Thamuz Molten scythes comes back, etc. Remove the sandguard's slow, its pretty useless actually. Khaleed's SS needs larger area to cover and damage. His 1st skill cover larger area than his SS and has more damage. This is not really like an SS :/
If those buffs are not enough, maybe higher attack scaling by... 20% on his 1st skill but lower his base damage and a slightly faster ultimate should be enough?
i usually just buy bloodlust axe and war axe while having the rest be defensive items. It's just fun seeing you heal back up with 1st skill and if it wasn't enough, the 2nd skill healing can stall long for you to go back to lifestealing with 1st skill.
I remember using this character when i saw Kentaro's build his damage can shutdown marksmen and fighters in early game with first skill and execute he is a good sidelaner that can clear out lanes faster. I use him as roaming fighter (not using roam items)
I still remember those days that he is banned in his first release. One of the reasons why he is rarely picked is because there are many heroes who can counter him with crowd controls and he falling in late game.
@Elgin can you enumerate some counterpicks against Joy because her attributes and skill set aren't that devastating. I don't believe Joy deserves the ban section.
If i remember correctly, when i try to push with khaleed, with his passive when im aiming at the tower, i always damage the enemy. So previously, pushing with khaleed whist enemy under the tower is kind of hard.
Actually it's a 50/50, he can be a 2nd ish tank but I've seen so far is people been picking much more popular buffs like Martis and Leomord. And as always thamuz is always there.
The passive was splash, i so remember it because one time i tried attacking only the torret while a hero was near it, i pressed the attack only to the torret but not the hero with an advance basic attack. The torret attached me
i feel like they should lower his 1st skill cd because it’s his major damage source and he really needs to get back his sand feet if accidentally cast his passive on enemies. he feels sluggish as heck without passive and it’s not like he’s super quick with it. i think julian and esme can still catch up with him moving on sand also the late game damage nerf on 1st skill isnt necessary at all. he never did anything well late game and they’re taking damage away from him lmao
I won't say he is bad because he is not bad but whenever im the exp laner i won't prioritize him unlike Uranus, fredrinn or dyrroft. His only benefits is his great first skill and ULT,that's it.his second skill is just heal and reduction which is good for him and that's really all i can say about his skill set Now he is unpopular probably because he will falls down in the late game, yes he can reach enemy mm with ult but will it stun the mm and let u kill him/her?the animation is too slow that YZ or paquito pick is better than him,and his damage is not consistent because early high damage but late nah medium to low unlike dyrroft which is consistent because of the penetration and his 2nd skill which is heal is useless, enemy would go straight to backlines knowing you are healing since you are not moving at all unlike uranus or Esmeralda that still annoys enemy even though they are healing(Esmeralda is not healing i know but she keeps increase her shield so count that as healing) and thats all I think about khaleed as exp laner
I don't think it's enough. Cuz if a players knows how to sustain his early game damage it just makes him easy to counter also ult needs a buff cuz it's so predictable and second skill needs a cc immunity like the one only immune to stuns and knockback
I've been Khaleed main since his and got senior badge on him. But on the past week years never played him cause he can easily countered with CC skills. You'll obviously can't outmatch Leomord, Martis and Terizla on today's meta. Also, bloodlust axe can't sustain him like he used to. If they enhance his spell vamp or basic defense like he used to, then he have a, chance.
Every time he gets buffed he gets nerfed at the same time, making him a lot more bad than he was His biggest issue is that he deals zero damage late game, he is just pure sustain and no damage, Terizla is similar but he can apply alot of cc Thamuz is also like this but alteras he deals true damage
The problem with khaleed is that he can’t disengage once he commits to a team fight and his 2nd skill easily interrupted by cc. Cant survive really against proper opponents
I used to main him as exp laner Right now i sometimes play him as a super aggressive early game tank with revitalize Use all 3 will instantly heal you to full
i remember when they first release khaleed and i used to like him cus you can kill enemy hero when the game just started stay in bush wait till enemy close and just skill 1 and execute
Nah this is still not changing him to popular. Before this buff he was already good and is still good aside from his apparent weakness to cc. This is just minor so if the khaleed before became forgotten, this khaleed won't change anything.
Been using khaleed since his first release and the problem with him is his damage mid-late game he can’t deal enough damage to solo kill or catch up to most enemies
