I’m 26yo French guy living in Malta in Swieqi, Rent : €800 ( for 1 bedroom apartment) Water+electricity +internet+phone : €150 Groceries : €450 (eat very well and meat almost every day Outdoor activites (including bar, restaurant, transport) : €250 Exceptional expenses (for example Clothing, doctor, repair of something) : €250 Just almost €2000 monthly expense to live correctly without excess for my case. Imo Malta is good for high-income people who stay at home a lot. The quality of life is really excellent but really too expensive imo. (for what it is) And stay at home a lot because Malta is small and many people leave Malta because they are bored. I think that an expatriate must earn at least €4000 per month to really live properly and be able to put money aside to ensure the future

Currently, I am residing in Ireland, and I've heard about Malta for student visa reasons. In terms of the cost of living, it doesn't differ much from Malta. The difference is that in Ireland, whoever can easily earn three times as much, and it's relatively simple to work more than the permitted 20 hours. I would say that even with European citizenship, going to Malta is not worthwhile unless it's for leisure purposes

Hi Alex, Deepika here. Quite an accurate summation of the monthly expenses for living in Malta. Unfortunately not a lot of people take the cost of living seriously and they come here hoping their life will be a paradise because they just see the beach and the sunny weather. It is still a great place to live provided you have a good pay and you cook food at home on most days. I really appreciate the kind of effort you are putting into making such videos. Kudos to you and your team ❤

Honestly, it's kind of sad to see that the living conditions for the unskilled sector are going down every month, with how much they earn and the increase in everyday expenses Malta no longer seems like the place to move to. I would like to know about the skilled workers, what their opinions are about the current state of Malta and whether it's worth moving in.

My girfriend and I are living in Mellieha in 2 bedroom modern furnished apartment. Both of us have salary around 2500e combined, and we just came to Malta so we are expecting to find something better paid in future. For apartment with bills included we pay 1000e. Groceries around 250-300. We’re not eating only rice at home, we definitely go out from time to time, and we are ordering food delivery from restaurants atleast 6-10 times a month, depends. Sometimes we end up saving good amount of money, sometimes not if we are going out to much, but conclusion is that this video is just aproximate and it shouldn’t discourage people. If you can pace your lifestyle around your income, you’ll be fine for sure.

The cost of living here in Southern Germany - lower food prices but higher rent/real estate prizes than Northern Germany - are roughly the same like in Malta BUT the income is not !! We live in both countries and thankfully our income comes from Germany :)) ! And we bought our house in Malta when the prizes were really low compared to Germany. Grazi Malta and I am looking forward to hibernate there soon. ❤

Rising cost of living is a common problem all around the globe. But prices for many groceries in Malta is one of the highest I've ever seen in Europe. And I'm not buying bullsh..t that's all because they are imported. Imported from the Moon ot another universe? Almost everything imported from Italy(Sicily) , which is EU and just a few hours from Malta. So no import taxes paid. Rent is another story, which is incomparable with the average salary.

Hi Alex, enjoying your videos, especially about Gozo--That's where I want to retire to, the town of Zebbug especially appeals to me. The historical significance of Gozo is amazing! I am writing you from Merced, California where gasoline is over $5 per gallon. A combo breakfast from Carls Jr. was $14 last week. Not long ago I took three of my grandboys to McDonalds for just sandwiches for Big Macs, it was $36. I moved from a 4bd house ($1600) a couple of months ago to a one bd apt for $1000. As a veteran with pension and social security I think 700 euros for rent in Zebbug would be more than reasonable. This month I was able to spend $200 for food. If my overhead was under 1200 euros, I would have 1000 euros for TukTuk and other rental situations. I know there is an application process for senior citizens and a cash up front lease agreement for a year. It's going to take some doing, but without a doubt--Zebbug is where I want to be!

I think your estimation for a couple is quite good, personally we spend at least 500€ in groceries. Only way to reduce that would be living in a 1 bedroom. Plus, there are annual expenses to consider like car fees (approx 600/car) and health insurance (approx 500/person) that you need to organize yourself to have the money when the time comes to pay those

I spend a month in Malta for 3 people and for basic items, nothing fancy, breakfast, snacks, and small lunch items we spent under 40 Euros a week. If I bought steaks, fish, etc I'm sure under 100 euro a week, so 400 a month. By comparison in Michigan, USA where we live we spend 500-600 a month. Rent has skyrocketed. Before covid I paid $950 US dollars for 3 bed/2bath, basement, nice backyard. Now it's $1500 (after I talked him down from 1600). My raise at my job was only $2. Doesn't seem to make sense.

After seeing your video, I am concerned too much with my decision to relocate my family there(my wife and my baby girl). My salary in Malta is around 2700 NET. If I rent a 2-bedroom apartment and enjoy life here, maybe it is not enough. Because my wife needs to spend time taking care of my baby kid and studying more. The cost of living in Malta has increased too much since I went there. Some Maltese citizens are too lucky that they have a house here to reduce costs. Could you make a video about "How can TCN buy the house in Malta and make an interview about this?"

In Sri Lanka €1000 enough for a family including 2 adults and 2 children. This includes rental, electricity, Internet, foods, clothing and water bills but the problem is this is a low income country and wages are lower than 200Eur per month for the majority.😂 politicians, businessmen, professional workers, digital nomads and wealthy people can bear this without any trouble.

Top tip before going out for those who drink a lot. Prepare a cheese platter, bottle of red wine at home, oh and a few beers. Then head on out to Valletta for happy hour cocktails. Then head to a pub for a Pint of Basically this is what I do. Total cost. € 6 for the wine... € 2.30 for the beers. Cheese platter € 8 . Cocktails € 8 .... € 6 pint of Guinness. Total cost. € 30.30.

WELL SAID AND ARTICULATED ALEX 👍 . James Corville 🇺🇸 said in 1992 : "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID". "The Economy" is stupid indeed .From day #1 of the civilised financial world; wages/inflation/house prices/cost of daily living, ALWAYS been each other's enemies. Concerning Malta, I always remember people having to keep more than one job to be able to BUY a property. With property prices increasing by around 5% per annum, robust but inadequate wage increases, rents going through the roof since covid and inflation at around 7% due to Ukraine war ; the situation is now is even worse. Alas, this is also happening in developed rich countries. Congratulations re 💯+ subs🎉 THANKS ALEX 🎥 👏. Cheers 👍 🇲🇹 ♥ 🇪🇺 ™

Eating out in Malta is super expensive without any good reason. A salad costs 15 euro and a meat meal costs 25-35 euro. This is like being in Norway not a Mediterranean coutry. If you go to the butcher you can get a beef stake for 4 euro but if you go to a restaurant you ll need 30. Ordering delivery food for a single person cant get lower than 15 euro. Food menus are so so bad. If you come from another Mediterranean country, this is just an overpriced low quality food ,served not in the best way. Malta is just to make money, cooking on your own, and leave the rock when you can claim a better job and quality of life anywhere else in the universe.
