We fixed the transmission in our Porsche Cayman for just $44 and some time. Did it work? Better yet, with six working gears, is it fast? We took it to our test track, the Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park (FIRM), to find out.

GT3 lca's for camber for sure, I think I'm running close to -3 front camber on my car. On my 996 turbo I can turn PSM off, but not really, it stays on in the background and cuts boost on corner exit. The only way to truly make it go off is to unplug the psm harness in the frunk. Maybe install a plug on that wire you have to cut so you can still have it working on the street?

You guys should find someone who "tried this" but it backfired and do a story on it. By that I mean someone who bought a car really cheap thinking that it might be an easy fix, but then it turned into a nightmare!

Even in stock form, if you play with the front strut at the top -- ie the strut tower mount -- you should be able to squeeze a little more camber out of it. It won't be much, but maybe something closer to -1º camber?
@TheCmason13
@TheCmason13 2 месяца назад
Maybe I’m wrong, but I think you can add a slight amount of negative camber on the strut tower, as there’s different holes for strut location, similar to what Ford offers on the Mustangs.

Gt3 lca + oem shims is a great camber option

Incredible find for $15k! Looks and sounds great. Slower than expected (scratching my head at how a BRZ on worse tires is faster), but I think negative front camber and stability-control disable will transform it. Thinking about it, a track comparison series vs. a BRZ/GR86 would be really interesting. Battle of the sub-3k lbs drivers coupes. Could start stock and add typical/easy mods like camber and see how they compare.

Definitely gonna be watching out for what happens with this one, I'm hoping to follow in your steps (dodging misteps? Probably not) in a year or two!

You can absolutely dial negative camber on a 981 Cayman or Boxster with factory sports suspension or X73. Your statement is not factual. 2014-2016 Porsche Boxster / Cayman with the standard sports suspension. Here are the typical settings: Front suspension: - Camber: -0.6° to -1.0° - Caster: 7.0° to 8.0° - Toe: 0.10° total toe-in Rear suspension: - Camber: -1.2° to -1.6° - Toe: 0.20° total toe-in Here are some general suspension tuning settings including for a 2014-2016 Porsche Boxster / Cayman with the X73 sport suspension: Front suspension: - Camber: -1.0° to -1.5° - Caster: 7.5° to 8.5° - Toe: 0.10° total toe-in Rear suspension: - Camber: -1.5° to -2.0° - Toe: 0.20° total toe-in These are typical starting points for a street/performance setup. Whatever settings you’re driving are not a standard suspension set up from factory. Thus your baseline is wrong and since you’re a pro sport car shop, you would know that.

are you not able to turn tc(PSM) off in these cars ? Figured you just hold down a button or something
@salami99
@salami99 2 месяца назад
to have it fulley off, disable the yaw sensor. Maybe that's what he meant?
@salami99
@salami99 2 месяца назад
fyi, the sport mode takes tc down one level, THEN the TC off button just turns it down to 1 or 2/10ths but NOT fulley off. Most driver don't notice it but the track pros do

We were shocked, too, but it's hard to overstate just how intrusive it is, even when "off" on cars without the Sport Chrono package. Hooray for Porsche ownership, but nothing a pair of wire cutters shouldn't be able to fix. :)

I mean, if we're talking stock to stock...used Cayman or new BRZ/GR86...I feel like this video pretty much answers that question, no? I mean, from another video...stock BRZ Ts goes...4 seconds a lap faster?

It's about two seconds, but yes--we really hoped for more. We expect disabling stability control to be worth at least 1-2 seconds, though. Testing that next.

No way in hell is a brz close to a cayman. I own 2 boxster bases 987.1 and I'll take that bet and give you odds. I also had a cayman S 987.1 with suspension mods and was faster than many cars with 200 hp more, like full race preped mustang gt.

Adjustable lower control arms and toe will buy you a lot more camber. I'm running at least -3 F & R in my '14 S.

@@MegaNardman that's the max for front stock, -2 ish. to get -3 u need gt3 arms. rear can do way more oem obviously. I have not really seen any crazier chamber than 3 on the 981, other than the drifter guy but he has a custom steup like e36 i think
