Then what Google News is doing? They also share the images and headlines of some other news portal without their permission and paying them. As far as I think this person is also doing the same or is their any difference. Please clarify.
@DanielStPierre
@DanielStPierre 4 года назад
The "person" who is doing this is Dwight Hooper and one of his websites is www.dwighthooper.com/ and if you visit his website, you will notice this "portrait" of Mr. Hooper www.dwighthooper.com/images/portrait.png where he claims to have played a role he describes as "instrumental in building one of the largest digital media technology companies today representing over 2,500 clients and 100,000 users worldwide." I find it hypocritical that when I queried Mr. Hooper on the source of his media & news articles, and after I mentioned that using syndicated content for commercial gain without permission was a federal offense, he laughed and simply replied: Everyone is doing it! Of course that was a lie. Not everyone is stealing from writers and photographers like Dwight Hooper and his circle of vipers, defrauding fathers, mothers and other individuals who work for a living...

Google obviously pays for syndication and associated sharing rights, but as far as I know, Dwight Hooper just steals content, or at least, that's what he told me during our phone call. When I asked Dwight Hooper how he was granted permission to use copyrighted syndicated content, he revealed he did not "need" permission and claimed, and I quote, that "everyone is doing it!"

@@DanielStPierre Well, as far as I know, google news don't pay any amount to the news portals & in some countries they r fighting a case with media houses. However, fb has announced they will soon start paying media houses for sharing their content on fb. I was thinking 2 make something like google news, but I don't have much legal knowledge, hence sometimes I collect info on this.

@@rohanyadav638 Google and Facebook became global monopolies because they ripped off the creators of content for years. And legislators were too slow to even slow them down. Even today, big tech makes billions off the backs of creators.

Is a link aggregator website, like RealClearPolitics alright because it's only using article titles? I'm assuming that has to be fine.
@DanielStPierre
@DanielStPierre 4 года назад
Correct! Using titles of syndicated content is legal and "fine" since the titles link to each corresponding article located on the media website that owns the rights to the content.

Once you have an account setup, they don't check your other channels. Unless they get a complaint or happen to stumble across it.

What if you go to the RSS feed of say Wall Street Journal and they have a few different feeds. Say you take just one and put on the homepage of a corporate website without any Google Ads. What's the law on that?
@DanielStPierre
@DanielStPierre 4 года назад
Like most if not all media sources, Wall Street Journal content (copy, articles, photos, etc.) is copyrighted and cannot be used without permission. Using content without permission is essentially stealing...

Indeed, Dwight's harem was taken down either before or after his death. I heard he died of cancer. Instead of listening to biblical advice, and do things right, the man wronged my family and me. The Dwight Hooper I knew we was a bully, a scum, but worse, he was a thief.

Bonjour ! I did notice Google took down Mr. Hooper ads throughout his entire network of 110+ illegal sports websites and he is now only using article titles and no longer stealing (republishing w/o permission) content other than photographs, which I'm sure he would find a way to justify. Sadly as far as I continue to witness, Dwight Hooper is a thief and a scammer. He's still stealing other people's intellectual property in my book, and I'm sure God is not pleased with such a man's illegal endeavors online...

In 2019 he was undergoing chemo and his wife had shoulder surgery putting her out of work for 6-9 months. In that time, they couldn't afford to keep their house and pay for chemo, so they decided to stop the chemo. Beginning of 2020, Dwight lost his battle and his wife has since lost the house.
