That is exactly the right mustard. Try it this way. 3 parts tomato sauce, to two parts mayonnaise, to one part mustard. Add in a few chopped gherkins, and it's EXACTLY like Big Mac sauce. Few finely diced onions on the burger, cheese lettuce and sauce.
I remember the burgers that started off large then shrank to the size of a 50p coin, ahh the 80s what a brilliant time to grow up, lol, cheers for a very nostalgic video Gareth.
Jeepers. I usually buy my meats from the farm shop by me. But last night I saw and bought co-op fresh burgers for tonight after work. There is 4 fresh red ground beef burgers thicker than those. £3.30 for the 4 I got.
In the 60s I used to have Birds Eye burgers. With onion or without. Used to be in packs of 2. Best burgers I ever had. Every Saturday without failure. Loved them. Nothing like the ones you get now ☹️☹️☹️☹️
My Mum loved those Birdseye Beef Burgers with Onions that came out the size of 10 pence pieces LOL I tried them recently and wasnt so keen but maybe the recipe changed over the years or our taste buds have...
I don't like any frozen burger. I don't consider myself to be a top chef or anything but my homemade burgers always taste better (and very easy to make).
@@pokeybumfinger2650 If you aren’t making them for some dietary reason, may I suggest adding chicken sausage meat, available online. Failing that add a sausage meat of your liking. You could also add a made up stuffing mix to it. Hope this helps.
Thought you would get 4 burgers and two slices of processed cheese and you would have to self assemble. Much cheaper than a Big Mac, but I think I will go for fresh burgers at that price.
Good looking sauce, Gareth! Would work on a dog too. Cheese-in burger reminds me of a Juicy Lucy from Minneapolis, they were amazing when I visited. Great video as always. I come to your channel for honest reviews and good humour. Cheers!
Hi Gareth. That looked satisfying indeed. I remember the frozen burgers with the onions in them that you were talking about there. Man, that instantly transported me back in time to the 1980s. Lol. Do you remember Bernard Matthews turkey drumsticks lol.?.keep up the spot on work mate. Best wishes from Scotland.
Nah, maccies tried to sue an irish company a couple of years ago and it went hilariously bad for mcdonalds 😅😅 google the big mac lawsuit its actually brilliant what happened after 😂😂😂@kevowski
A burger is just what you make it. I go for a thick burger or two thin. Add whatever salad you like, just as the sauce you like. And your good to go. Don’t try to reproduce flavours of mainstream burgers like BurgerKing or mcDonalds,Just go with what you’ve got and what you like. That way you won’t be disappointed. But if you create a tasty burger ? You can slap yourself on the back. Just make sure you buy a good burger. Fresh is better than frozen. And I like the fact that Lidl and Aldi put meat to fat ratio on their burgers. If you are really a burger lover ? Then you can make your own from scratch, it’s not that hard. Frozen burgers tend to have more water and fat content, so they reduce in size. Do don’t go for the large sized buns or you may feel robbed. You may even be tempted to go go for the “ smashed burger “ ? It’s just another way of making a nice and thick burger into a larger but thinner burger. A fresh burger tends to have more bite as it is less minced down.
I’m a bit of a skeptic. At the end of the day a burger is a burger. Call it what you want, it doesn’t matter. At a BBQ ? A burger in a bun with onions is OK. When I’m C at home ? I like a burger, cheese, raw onion, tomato and lettuce, along with a decent sauce. Without the extras ? It’s like having a Christmas dinner of just turkey and spuds without all the trimmings.
Great review Gareth, that look great and worth a go. I have done HP sauce and mustard previously. Good to see you using the knife for everything, glad it is not just me that does it
I don't know if you have already done them but, Aldi's offering the 'Snacksters Big Stack' ..... is a VERY good and cheap alternative to a BigMac... it comes with the bun (even the middle one), the cheese and the sauce... if you want to go really authentic you would have to add your own gherkin and lettuce but I find I can live without those for the sake of simplicity at home. So if you have not already trialled them, give them a whirl. I went in not having high expectations and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised.
Don't listen to these people. I'm a chef, this is the best recipe. Mustard sweet Ketchup Mayo Chopped fine gherkin Chopped fine dill Use some gherkin juice from the jar, not too much. Salt and pepper to taste. Done. If you don't have any gherkins you can sub it for small chunk piccalilli if you happen to have any in the cuboards.
I just want to say how I love your videos for being so down to earth.I think that if you avoid using your knives to cut on plates it would preserve their sharpness , I am no chef by the way .The best thing to use is a wood chopping board.
After watching your video demolish that Giant Double Mac Burger, I could certainly demolish one myself lol - Great review and I'm now off to Iceland to grab one myself lol 😉🍔😋
Omg and now, I'm hungry AND totally blame you 😂nice review had the smaller version and I can say not too bad at all so can't wait to try the big ones 😊
Gareth my friend. I sincerely hope you read this comment as I've just had the best Indian meal ever. Aldi Gastro Chicken Jalfrezi. Oh my word. Please review. It's absolutely sensational. The spices and chicken melt in your mouth.
Hi Gareth, the Hmmmmmmmmmmm of approval, it's a cheese burger playing havoc with your taste spuds, enjoy it , and here a big money maker for you ,why don't you make your own burger sauce it will sell "Graham's burger sauce" ,have a good one take care
Iceland do a 8once Aberdeen Angus (2 in a pack) burger. For £5. So these sound a little better, with the cheese. For a pound cheaper. Shall have to give them a go.
Think I found something new this evening in Tesco bargain bin. Finest lamb tandoori burgers, definitely worth a review, something abit different and tasty in my opinion, would prob buy again at full price
I saw this today, so checked online with Iceland to see if they still have them, there is a few negative reviews people saying it smelled and tasted vile. I wonder if the recipe changed since you last had yours, or you had older type stock. Would be good if anyone has insight into recent purchases.
Looks good but cheaper to grab a pack of mince from Aldi or Lidl and make your own, and you know exactly what's in them then. And you can go for the less than 5% fat mince if you do it that way. Now I want a burger lol. I'm gonna have to try your burger sauce recipe though for sure
something strange going on here Gareth I don't know if Iceland are having distribution problems or if they're slowly feeding new products in across the stores slowly, according to their publicity these are available from 8 April checked on line my local home delivery store, they're not even listed anyway, one your girls might enjoy Fish Finger Fries, chip sized fish fingers, choice of breaded or crispy, not cod unfortunately £3.50 for 475g bag or 3 for £10 I believe these are part of a group of Summerr limited editions atb mate Bill
but Gareth! You missed the middle layer of bread that they put in the Big Mac! try harder next time. They actually look nice and juicy I might try them xx
2 All beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, onion, on a sesame seed bun! That was the ad when Big Mac came out in the US. 😄 Sadly have had 2 this month, and both with only 1 shrivelled pickle. I like my dill pickles and so sad all you can get is sweet here. Have ordered from a company in London too get dill. But easier if on shelf 🤔
Oh dear no.More mayo in the sauce, seeded buns and shredded lettuce. Please don't call that a Big Mac clone,it's just a double cheeseburger. The lettuce and sauce add the cooling effect on a real Big mac.
I always thought it was Thousand island and ketchup.. the burgers you suggested that have onion IMO could be the birds eye ones.. called Birds Eye 4 Original Beef Quarter Pounder Burgers 454g or the smaller burgers ones. Be aware that they have changed the recipe now and took out 20% of the beef and added plant protein.. reviews not good on new recipe.. Good news is that Morrisons still sell the older 76% beef versions.. either the QTRs or normal smaller burgers.
Gareth please go Lidl and review the jalepeno poppers from the frozen section. You will not be disappointed!!!! From Kieron and Davantry aka the MP Cheers!
