The topic of photographs is a massive one. There has been many discussions and opinions formed on this topic, whether it is allowed or not. Is it permissible to display family photos in our homes?
It is permissible to take photos. However, there is a limit and photos of people should not be displayed in the house.

I am from christian faith, and something feels not right in me, that some people display the long deceased relative on the wall. Especially, if that was a child, or just the one who died early in some unnatural way. I though, let me ask the people what they think. And here I found good answer. But its feels that there is more into this.

@@nabilahakim7457 human pictures, anything that has a soul is haram. to draw something that has a soul in it is haram because it is living. and you cannot bring it to life as a drawer.

In countries like Pakistan/Bangladesh/India and many African countries, they go way over the top, they start adding so many strict stuff that eventually it becomes impossible to follow your faith. This question of not hanging photos in the house is one such. Whenever any scholar gets asked they just drag it out, vague stuff, baseless stuff... basically they don't know. It was said to be prohibited because Muslims got scared of it thinking it's blasphemous or sinful, so let's just ban it. We are not talking about hanging massive portraits of yourself as to say I am the ruler of this house or this town. But simple pics of your family, kids, parents framed and hung out of affection and love; and yet the so-called religious brigade goes crazy about it. There is hardly any strong hadees, let alone any mention of banning it in the Quran. Not a single scholar has given a clear, satisfactory answer on it. They just don't know.

Its just a way of being careful. It could potentially prevent angels entering ur home, recording any good deeds, protecting against shaytaan etc. So why take the risk. It's not going to benefit you to display them, but may harm you.

I don't get the need to use terminology like "so-called religious brigade". You often hear terms like this used by people who find religiosity suffocating and prefer a more liberal version that is closer aligned to their whims and desires. When they can otherise opinions deemed too difficult due to weakness, it's a convenient way of mentally rationalising actions and subduing any subsequent guilt. If the hadeeth of angels not entering a home in which there are pictures isn't clear enough, there's a very real risk of falling into not wanting to hear anything besides what they've made up their mind over already. I don't understand this practice either as a family man who loves children. The risk to reward ratio is so low. What *actual* benefit does having photos up provide? You'll walk past them every single day barely evoking any emotion, largely ignored as you go about your routine. On the other hand, they very realistically will keep out the angels who bring Allah's Mercy and goodness into your home. And where the angels aren't, the devils will quickly come. This is why scholars will advise against it. Not because they're scared but because they can see past simplistic, base desires and look at the bigger picture. May Allah guide us all to His Good Pleasure.

Just put the pictures in an album, it's even more entertaining to carry it look at the pictures with your family, later on keep it aside, i see no hardship in this

@@amberm4884 I agree with u on the most part. But an angel is on ur shoulder always and that angel records ur good deeds. That’s why we say Salam in salah. That angel will not go away from u until u die, from what I have been taught.

I live in a house of non religious parents and they have tons of pictures in the house I don’t want them there but they’ll get very angry if I try to take them off

@@user-kj7zf2pq6z Salam, im no scholar but as far as im aware the house belongs to your parents and it is no sin upon you do in how they adorn their house etc. If you are able to try and avoid pictures hung up on walls or on display in your own room, if that is possible. Islam doesn't require frim you which you have no power over. Hope InshaAllah ive shed some light on your question.

How about crap and poo?Can we have pictures of it?If we cant have pictures of it can we have real crap in the house like dogpoo and worship it?how about making pictures from dogs and pigs but make the so small that we cant see them!Can we make pictures from wett farts,how about dogfarts!If i am blind can i have many pictures!I have so many importend questiions!

Hi sheikh am just wanting to know how do I get rid of pictures. Quite big picture of a wedding ofcourse it has faces and eyes so I want to dispose of it. Do we burn it or do we just tear it in pieces and bin it. It has my husbands face on it. Hope u can shine some light thanks.

If I put a picture of my son on the wall, it's for my remembrance of what Allah has blessed me with. It's to make me remember Allah always and to never forget who Allah is and what he has done for me. How I struggled for 5 years of infertility and how Allah blessed me. I don't worship that photo. I don't think of my son as anywhere nearly as high as Allah. That's the point here, if you put a picture on the wall, like how a dictator does in a dictorship government, then that's different than what I'm doing. Allah knows my heart, my intentions. That is all what matters.
