I am a medical doctor and, while it is rare, there are instances in which urine pregnancy tests and serum beta hcg tests can be negative even when the woman is far enough along in her pregnancy (but not too far) that it ought to be detected. This can be due to what is called a “hook effect” or isoform variations of the hcg hormone. As clinicians, we need to do a better job of understanding the sensitivity and specificity of tests we order to best interpret the results (almost no test is 100% “accurate”). The most valuable lesson I’ve learned over the past few years (after being a patient myself) is that doctors and nurses too often dismiss the patient and lack the humility to concede that they themselves may in fact be wrong. I think this is due in part to the fact that most healthcare providers are overwhelmed with too much work. I was guilty of this myself but I am now motivated to do better. Women, especially pregnant women, deserve better from us.

Im living proof of irregular periods, false negative tests for months and months and had two babies.. A still born at 6 months because they kept telling me it was all in my head so i kept partying and lost my first one. It was my first pregnancy ever and i knew nothing about anything only what they told me which were negatives so i ran with it.. I regret it still til this day.... Then my second child i experienced the same exact thing except this time i decided not to listen due to my first experience. I stayed healthy, ate healthy. Drunk a lot of water, completely stopped doing anything that would cause any harm because of the first situation i been through and now have a healthy 3 year old girl. Everytime im pregnant they tell me everything comes back negative but i stopped listening after my heart was severely broken from my first experience.. They seem to always be wrong with me but i guess its the way my body is set up. So if you think you are pregnant and have any type of symptoms, even though the docs says everything comes back negative, stay cautious and aware. Don't become a victim to miscarriages and still born because they say negative. I didn't know any better but i do now.

Got a negative serum test and no baby on ultrasound in the ER for bleeding and they told me I was just having my period and that I could have miscarried and did not know it... when I went to follow up with Doc at the clinic she told me about the possibility of a stealth pregnancy since I’m having all these symptoms including aversions to my FAVORITE FOODS. God only knows what is going on so trust your gut and continue to pray!
I was told that my pregnancy was a hiding pregnancy and your stealth pregnancy is very interesting to me because I think they are the same thing. I had my full 7 day period for 3 months while pregnant and tapered over the next couple of months after that. Most doctors say it's absolutely impossible to have your period while you're pregnant but I have read some medical Court hearings that proved that their subjects did have their period even for as much as the full-term. They're just extremely rare. I believe you're and my pregnancies were extremely rare. I was told it happens under stressful circumstances or whenever danger is sensed by the mom. I don't know if that was true in your case and I'm not asking you because this is public forum but I don't mind saying it is true in my case. Thank you for sharing!!
This is not accurate. Some women have low levels of hcg to the point that they test negative. I had this happen. I thought I was pregnant and kept going back to my doctor every month and the tests were all negative. I was losing weight, not gaining. This happened all the way up to the day I found out I was pregnant.i finally had a positive test and she sent me for an ultrasound. She was thinking I was about a month along. Nope...the ultrasound showed I was 25 weeks gestation. I ended up have her prematurely at 27 weeks gestation. She spent 4 months in the. NICU. So YES, you can be pregnant even when getting negative tests!!

Bobbie Dunn I had her prematurely because my water started leaking for no know reason. I went to the emergency room because I could feel leaking. They tested the fluid which turned out to be amniotic fluid. So they transferred me to a bigger hospital that had a NICU. They tried medications to keep baby in, but her heart rate was dropping so they did an emergency c-section.

I took a blood test at 3 weeks pregnant and it came back negative, I have also taken a couple dozen HPT and they all came back negative. I went to the doctor and got an ultrasound done, and I am 8 weeks pregnant. Explain that, if blood and HTP are always correct.

I’m no scientist but when I was pregnant with my daughter who is 5 now, I went to the doctor late in my pregnancy and had a negative test. I honestly wasn’t ready for a second child so I worked and pushed it off but knew i was pregnant due to me missing 4 cycles and my stomach growing. I also was losing weight fast. I finally made an appointment to finally start getting her seen about and to my surprise , they told me I wasn’t pregnant. I literally was shocked and looked at my doctor like he was crazy! Especially after he did the stomach pushing already. I usually don’t argue and let a lot of stuff by but this sent me so I was like ummmm well what is this knot in my tummy!?!? He asked me to sit back again and he pushed again which hurt like hell cause he was pushing so hard. Then he was like well that isn’t normal so I’m going to send u back to ultrasound and see if it’s a cyst!?🤔 long story short, the ultrasound lady put the thing on my stomach and we both saw a kicking baby! I burst out in tears instantly and she was like “you want to know what you’re having?” It’s a girl! I cried even more cause I already had a 7 yr old son and even tho I wasn’t ready for baby #2 I was pleased to have both. I’m very thankful now and trying again 5yrs later. I’ve had 4 chemicals so far and all gave lines on the test. Now this cycle I’ve gotten faint lines for 10 days now. I went to the ER today and both blood and urine came back negative. For some odd reason this cycle feels legit but the hcg don’t match the way my body feel. I’m hopeful and I’m going to pay for an ultrasound if the symptoms don’t subside. Here in ga they have inexpensive ultrasound facilities that u can just pay to get one. No hassle no pregnancy test or nothing so we’re going to do that and see, wish me luck. I have 2 kids . I have been feeling weird in my body nausea, hungry ect, I have taken 3 test it came back negative. Did an ultra sound turns out I have a cyst on the right side of my ovary. This was from July. In August I started feeling butterfly in my stomach, today I felt a big movement. I had a corpus luteum cyct which gave off a very small amount of hcg. Which cause a faint line to continue on a pregnancy test. this doesn't seem accurate. I have read hundreds of comments on multiple threads of women testing negative on the urine test as well as on blood test and yet have still been pregnant. women with a low rising hcg usually test negative up to 2 & half to 3 & half months into pregnancy. Most complaints from these women are that they are sure they are pregnant, their bodies are giving all the symptoms, yet because they can't provide the doctor with a positive result the gp will not refer them for a scan and speak to the women like they are crazy and it's all in the head. which further puts women off from going back to the gp and continue testing negative and go on to having a real pregnancy that's not been detected until near full term. Whilst I understand that doctors cannot just refer patients for treatments not confirmed and just go on the 'feeling' that the patient has, theyr also needs to be a wider range of patients care and further tests need to be done to prove or disprove otherwise, as urine and blood tests alone are not always enough. Also ectopic pregnancies often go unnoticed as they too do not show hcg in blood tests in most cases, and can not be detected without an internal scan which means most ectopic pregnancies are often a medical emergency as they are detected once the tubes have already burst. Things need to change!

Both times I took minimum 6 tests over a few weeks and then went to the doctor who made me take another piss test when i was asking for a blood test, even then the test came negative and (second pregnancy) the doctor didn't think the blood test was necessary because "Its 99%" that the piss test was correct! I managed to get a blood test and got a positive. I went to get an ultrasound and i was 10 weeks pregnant, so apparently when i went to the doctor who insisted i wasn't pregnant I was already 8-9 weeks pregnant! The only reason I thought I was pregnant the first time was because my grandmother and mother both always got extremely sick the first trimester every time they where pregnant and I was basically bedridden like my gran had been when she had her 5 kids.
Girl that's my case... but i'm still on 1 negative pee test. Feeling so so sick i could not get out of bed this week, can't eat either. I had to clean up my appartment a bit: it was so exhausting!! i had to take breaks. I could be 6 weeks pregnant but the pee test this morning came back negative. i'm feeling many many symptoms BUT sore boobs. Mine got bigger and hurt for 3 weeks, now it's still big but dont hurt. it's the only "no symptom" that make me think maybe i'm just imagining everuthing... I will have blood test on monday but i am already sad it will be negative...

Paul45 That’s not what I was saying. I’m not someone trying to have a baby nor have I ever had sex. I just did a bunch of research on everything there is to know about pregnancy because it’s fascinating. I meant some of the information isn’t accurate because she said having a period isn’t possible while being pregnant (my mother had her period the entire time she was pregnant with all of her kids) and other things that I don’t remember because it was a while ago and I don’t have the want to really rewatch these videos because it’s pointless. My period has been late for 71 days now im not on birth control or any kind of medication I haven’t been stressed out as well I have been to the doctors multiple times and taken blood and pee tests and other tests to find out if there was anything else wrong and they all came out negative I believe from everything my body has been telling me that I am pregnant I’ve had symptoms for a long time and getting slightly bigger around the waist and lots of gas and Weird feelings in my stomach but nobody believes me and I would be 14 weeks and a day by now and they think I’m just stressed I don’t know what to do at this point

Truth be told the only way to be 100% sure of a pregnancy is via ultrasound. I had this happen to me with all of my pregnancies. I don't test positive until close to 8-12 weeks. My grandmother was the way and had an apparent period through most of her pregnancies.

Well this isn’t completely true. My grandsons mom had negative urine and blood the entire time, so nobody but God knew he existed until the day he was born. My sister didn’t get a positive blood or urine until she was 5 months pregnant. God has control of everything and every woman’s body/pregnancy is different. Just because something is the norm doesn’t mean it’s the only way!!!

I've been missing my periods for 2 months. Done home and bloodtest at 6week and came back negative. It hurts so much when you see "negative" i don't want to take another one. But i've always been regular on my periods and been feeling sick the last couple months. Ive done many tests to see if this could be anything else, everything negative. The fact that i could be pregnant is still a very valaible idea to me. I have a scan next months. I'll pray G till then. I hope He's hidding my pregnancy because my family would force an abortion on me. If they found a baby next month, it will be too late for abortion. Going through the same thing right now should have gotten my period September 4th and it is now a September 15th. A few days ago I had pink discharge ONLY when I wiped but it was only twice and after that nothing no blood no period. I get my period every month never have I ever missed, I feel different I get nauseous in the morning. doctors have told me they highly doubt I am as the test is negative but I guess all I can do is wait and pray that god has blessed me with a baby. They don't know everything I lost a child I even had a blood pregnancy test that came back negative and a week later I found out I was going to miscarriage because of a surgery that was performed due to pre-cancerous cells in my uterus right after the blood test . I knew I was pregnant but the blood tests said I wasn't I lost a child because of it . I once had a lab technician years after I lost my child say they think they can tell everything by blood test that person obviously must've known situation where bloodwork didn't show nothing and something happened just like in my situation . I tried to sue the doctor the lawyer told me good luck he still an OB/GYN today and all he could tell me at the time was I was sorry obviously from reading down through this there have been many women that have had negative blood test although they were pregnant something needs to be done about it women have lost children because of it . My piece of advice to any and all women go with your guts . If you just know you're pregnant no matter what those test say don't do anything that would put you were the child in jeopardy because it's possible really possible that you are pregnant
I'm 7month pregnant but I never get positive pregnancy test ever so yesterday I went for an ultrasound and the doctor told me there was no baby inside my womb but the baby is outside the won't that why they cannot detect my pregnancy.....I was very frustrated coz I know I'm pregnant sometym I can hear the big kick from my stomach..... believe me u can be pregnant and have monthly cycle and false negative results while you're still pregnant......I just pray to God that let this baby be healthy and real as I'm not taking prenetals vitamins 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
As far as the pregnancy testing goes the ones you buy for a dollar are sometimes duds this is a sales tactics used to sell more test.. I believe this is true with even the higher priced test.. Not knowing if your pregnant due to not having a medical confirmation can be stress full if your going through this stay in prayer and believe God for your miracle. Which ever way it goes God knows best so be strong and just be prepared just in case . I know one sure sign pregnancy is bleeding .

Currently in that situation. I am now 6 days late with my period and when I went to the doctor yesterday to get a test done (cuz my home tests were either negative or very hard to tell if it was negative or a faint positive) and the doctor said I wasn’t pregnant. Granted this was after I had drank 2 bottles of water so my pee was very diluted. My periods have been very regular so being 6 days late is not normal for me but I can’t seem to get any answers

It’s been 10 weeks since my last period and I have no period and nothing but negative tests. I do have PCOS, I am overweight and I do have a thyroid issue. The longest I have went without a period is 8 weeks so I’m a little weirded out about the 10 week mark for the first time. I am currently trying to get pregnant and the last time I had a insemination was almost 12 weeks ago. If I don’t get my period this month I guess I will go and get blood work done. Yes it absolutely is possible. It happened to my best friend and her grandmother and her aunt. The grandmother never once got a positive urine test on any of her three children. She found out because she insisted her doctor do a blood test and an ultrasound. My friend only found out a similar way. It’s rare but it’s definitely possible. Also how do you calculate gestational age for women who do not have perfect 28 day cycles and aren’t tracking the cycles to estimate date of ovulation? For my 3 pregnancy was negative till 12 week of prenancy the 3rd one i found out while doing à kyst monitoring at 10 week but the hospital test before was negative and the test i had taken 2 week before was also negative

My first daughter I felt like I was pregnant took test after test all negative until after 3 months I went to the Dr thinking I had flu but they're test said positive. My second daughter I didn't even think I was pregnant still had my periods but my husband was having weird cravings and I had horrible heartburn a friend made me take a test i thought maybe I caught my pregnancy early nope I was 15 weeks! Lol she knows only the full form of HCG as she always stress that and says only those 2 weeks after the missed period if it’s positive it is positive if after 2 weeks of missed period it says negative means it’s negative this is what she says always and she knows only that.

Uhm I took a ton of test that were negative and some faint positives I'm 8 weeks today and 2 days ago I FINALLY got my blazing positive tests. Fyi i took tests after my missed period clearblue was great for my son but baby number 2 wasnt giving any hcg they were like nope.

@@selene20910 Yes I did. And I actually did a cheap test like from walmart with blood it showed positive. My blood work at the hospital showed positive i was actually only 5 weeks. Baby was 3 weeks behind. She is now a happy healthy 3 month old baby girl!!! Good luck and lots of baby dust to ya

I went nineteen weeks without knowing before my doctor told me it's in my head I have tried explaining I have colustrom even they took a urine test I went made an appointment a week later because I still didn't get my period and this time they did blood work then the blood work was positive then we had an ultrasound then of course after the doctors said I wasn't pregant it was in my head they blamed me for going nineteen weeks without knowing.

I had a miscarroage last March and my dear husband and I are trying to concieve again.This cycle makes me confuse I'm one day late with my period and still getting negative pregnancy test.In my previous pregnancy I had a positive test at 16 Days past ovulation( which is 1 day after missed period).Right now all I feel is cramping twinges and some gas accompanied with sound in my lower abdomen,extremely tired,nauseous,shortness of breath and very hungry.And I have no idea what is going on in my system right now.
I had a positive tests last month, then I started to bleed for about 5 days. Took a test during the bleeding and it was negative. Then about a week and a half later (this weekend) I had 3 positive test. Last night I tested got 2 negative line tests and 1 positive digital. This morning I had 1 negative line test and 1 negative digital. I got my blood drawn today! I need to know why these tests keep going pregnant to not pregnant and I need to know why I had that bleeding. I assumed I had a chemical pregnancy last month and I think I’m going through another one this month. It would be a major blessing to figure out I’ve been pregnant this whole time! I can’t wait for my HCG levels to come back and hopefully if they do come back negative.. I’ll know for sure I’m prob just going through another chemical. Of course if I start to bleed again. DiabeticDiaries I had a HSG done in 2016 at a Naval Hospital. My husband was on deployment and man did I wish I had someone with me. I found out I have PCOS when right before I got married in 2010. In an effort to get pregnant I've been through quite a few procedures I was fully awake for and no meds. So when they told me the HSG procedure would be " light cramping," I figured if I could have a LEEP and burn cancerous cells off this should be a breeze. It was not! I was in butterfly stirrups I believe she said. Either way they put a catheter in my cervix and began to push a liquid through. As they did little by little they'd take x-rays. The idea was to see if the liquid would fill up both fallopian tubes to make sure they were properly working. That's how I found out my left tube spasms and I could only rely 100% on my right fallopian tube.

did you go to an emergency so they test you properly, like ultrasound or something? That is what I do if I can't get to the doctor, or if the doctor has no significant answers and I still feel awful. They ran more tests there. If my doctor tells me you are not pregnant get out of here and I feel pregnant, and symptoms get more and so on, but blood test or urine test is negative, my next step is to do whatever it takes to get to emergency to get them ran an ultrasound on me.
@@kristenkerrr no I wasn't at that case. If it is negative it is negative in my case. I was very much in denial. Also I had a tooth infection that was making me feel nauseous. But I was pregnant three times with chemical pregnancy. I was loosing pregnancies before 5 weeks mark.

I took another test right before I went to the local health department my home test said positive. They did a urine test but theirs came out negative.
