@@rfs1506 If you go to WalMart, buy their entire stock, then win a Super Smash Bros Melee tournament, if you had a Chaingun, there is a 1/2000 chance the Cyberdemon will do nothing for a frame. Repeat for max efficiency and the best strat of all time!
@@matteocristini6221 I can't stand the chainsaw just because of the idling sound it makes. Although if I'm low on ammo I'm always happy to use it against pinkies. Don't idle it then either.
Unknown 247 technically, the gun killed it, not me, so practically all of my runs up to this point have been pacifist when you think about it as long as I didn’t punch.
The images evoked by the pacifist run might be the funniest Doom related thing ever. Instead of a blood soaked screaming marine firing in all directions, you have an unarmed guy tiptoeing around trying to avoid bumping into people. He's so afraid of social contact that he can't ask them to move. He's so averse to conflict that rather than fight, he takes the rocket launcher and blows himself up flinging his severely injured body into the exit. He is... Basically awkward as we are...
I know the video itself is great, I watched the whole thing of course, but your thumbnails are so charming. Simply portraying a moment in the video or it's subject matter using a single color background and Doom's excellent spritework. After seeing so much of modern RU-vid it's nice to see something actually easy on my eyes while still visually interesting.
Yep. My favorite is the "Challenged Deemed Impossible" video thumbnail. Doomguy riding a Cyberdemon like a horse while said Cybie is being hit by a Baron. Immediately followed by a bunch of demons about to rip Doomguy apart, all the while Pr. Doomguy Ghandi is handing them flowers.
Totally agree. It's actually kind of funny how striking the contrast of the thumbnails are compared to regular thumbnails, to the point that it's so easy to know when decino's released a new vid cause of that nice yellow background. It's great.
Oh I can't wait for part 2 and map 22: " *BREAKING: DUTCH MAN HAS MENTAL BREAKDOWN OVER VIDEO GAME LEVEL* " been waiting for this video for a while tho
"Can Doom be done without harming any demons?" "Can Starcraft be finished without training any troops?" "Can Need for Speed be won without ever getting into a car?" Can y'all win all those games without a computer?
When you play DOOM Eternal. Be sure to put on the classic doom marine skin, throwback shotgun weapon skin, use the classic weapon sound pack, classic weapon pose (ofc u already will), and admire the cyberdemon’s glutes in crispy HD so you can DOOM like it’s 1993 in 2020!
Wasn’t even a joke, I have an extra PC redeem code for doom eternal pre-ordered deluxe edition. If decino wants it I’ll be more than happy give it to him so we can see all the classic stuff in his play through. It’s the Bethesda launcher version tho so idk if that’s a turn off for him. But @decino let me know if you’re interested.
These videos really make me appreciate the friendly fire and infighting mechanics that Doom introduced. Of course, the fact that enemies interact with the same mechanics as the player helps with immersion, but it's also easy to believe that these demons probably have a hair-trigger temper and won't hesitate to tear someone apart for a perceived slight, even during a battle.
I was fighting with someone way back in the day to find out if map07 was theoretically possible on pacifist. I studied the code, analyzed the situation, and finally realized the truth that you speak of in this video. Except my model was done with SR50. I positioned that it was possible with SR50 depending on where your last gametic before the jump placed you on the platform. Stx-Vile then proceeded to do it live in response to seeing this. Although he did it with a rocket jump, which was insane but awesome. He was one of the slickest speed runners of his era. Map07 was one of the FINAL missing links to getting a Doom 2 pacifist run, and while I admire all of your videos for their attention to detail I am somewhat struck silly by how quickly and silently you slipped through map07 as though it wasn't a thing. It was thought impossible until I believe 2003 or so. That rocket jump that you glazed by was a community effort based on fights had in IRC and egos that couldn't be defeated.
www.doom2.net/doom2/research/map7.html for historical reasons. The graphics appear to be missing, but this is the original web page that lit the competition to actually complete the run. I also stand on record as stating it to be highly improbable but statistically possible. Only to have stx-Vile do it the next night. God Bless that magnificent maniac. Edit: According to the ZIP file included it was 4/20/2005.
*Decino decides to do a DOOM II Pacifist run.* *Dead Simple:* That's a fine run you're doing. Would be a shame if someone messed it up. *Decino does a Pro Gamer move.*
Such a demon thing to say.. but you're wrong. Humans have free will, you have the choice. A human can do the most amazing things or the most horrific things, it's like we're more like demigods or something. But most people don't have the balls to stand up to Satan these days like lil puss wusses, so that's why we see lots of bad apples.
It can be done. It's fucking hard if not near impossible. But basically you need to get 5 archviles to spawn then at the time they do there flame attack you need to be rising on pillar and looking away from icon. If done correctly u get knocked back and set on fire as u die u clip through head and your burning body is enough to kill Johns head. I only seen it done use tool assist.
@Manek Iridius yh and I said it's POSSIBLE but I've only seen it TASing. I was mearly stating the way it could be done so u might wanna jump down of your high horse n go fuck your self. Gd day to you sir.
Daemons: Doomguy needs at least 3 months to reach us at Earth Another daemon: he is here Daemons: in 10 minutes? Another Daemon: yeah and he didn’t kill anyone *After that daemons stopped thinking*
Eazy normally your take a while to beat the game, Decino beat the first map really fast (10mins, not really but ok) and be didn’t kill any of the demons (they tried to kill him and doom guy is known for killing demons)
@@Balgore8 It's a very technical question, actually. Because technically you can beat the final level without firing a single shot if you Archvile jump straight into the Icon's head. That, however, could be counted as killing a demon. But on the other hand, it could also be considered an "environmental kill" in which you just so happen to be the environment.
RNGod sent down to us his only begotten son, RNGesus, to grant the strength to speed runners everywhere to shave half a second off their times. If you are devoted, he may even bless you with good RNG in your games as well.
Doom2 is my favorite childhood game. Haven't played it for around 15 years and just finished it 2 days ago. It's good to see that videos about it are still released. You know, when a new Battlefield game comes out, it's played for a few years and people forget about it. But classic doom is played widely today and i believe it will be this way for a long time. This is how you define a really good game. It ages like wine. Hope it's true for decino and ZeroMaster as well so we can enjoy their videos for longer!
I really liked how this was more of a live commentary rather than just a “tutorial” on how to beat the game You actually made me love Doom, by the way XD
Love that Doomguy is a super strong commando who can run at superhuman speeds with infinite endurance and strafe over gaps at the speed of sound and cannot jump
"Let's pray to RNGsus!" Made my day! :-) Hadn't been aware before that you do not just analyze this game to death, but are also such a kick-ass runner. Cool stuff!
Amazing! The only thing missing, is the original runs and/or the count of attempts to pass a level (if not used with savestates) It would be a nice watch for all in a oner, like okoplok
This is a rather cool video. Ever since I preordered Doom Eternal, I have been in a Doom mood. I found your channel at roughly the same time and have been loving the content. Looking forward to more!
Decino: Can doom guy beat doom 2 without killing demons? Doom Guy:"Sure thing just let me change to less lethal weaponry!" *Load his shotgun with rock salt shell's*
Well played! You can also exit the map07 with the zeropress strategy, it need some practice, but it seems to be way easier than the rocket jump! Also, for the level 11, the blue key was useless no ^^?
Love all these in depth videos (regarding yellow background vids) about doom. Thanks to you I'm always learning new things about a game I've always loved and played countless hours of. Great work.
Love the new format. You weave an engaging narrative and throw in some humor. This Format allows you to show off more of your personality. Terrific job on the video!
yeah dude this is an amazing format! in love with this already. are the pain elementals not firing lost souls at 9:07 because there are too many monsters in the level?
A very informative and funny Part 1. Love the new format and looking forward to Part 2 Interesting piece of trivia On the original DOS executable you could crash the game if you pressed use on the red key doorframe on Level 6 The Crusher - why you would feel so inclined is another question! I call Level 11 Circle of Death because if you play it in this format that's the first name you see - I believe Compet-N calls it the same name
Hi Decino. I like that format. Beating the game this way means knowing it inside out to use nearly everything to your advantage. But brings me to one question. Was the game designed for beaten it that way or is it just a collection of tricks and technics found out over the years and combined together to do so? I mean so many parts looking like they were just created for it.🤔 In every case a format that you should stay with. I love the ' yellow series' were you go deep under the surface of doom and show what normally isn't seen. Thanks for sharing Decino. 👍👊🤘❤
I totally agree, Tommy. That's something I've often wondered, because it seems to happen in quite a number of classic Doom levels. Their structure, the balance between the amount of enemies/health/ammo, the enemies placement etc., make them barely possible to achieve, especially in Nightmare, Tyson or Pacifist. But still possible for the majority of them, even if they are so difficult that only a few players will achieve them. It seems to me that it was not intentional. I feel it's more a combination of hard work, high programming skills and great sense of intuition that give Doom this unique charisma and infinite replay value!
@@megasphere308 Yeah I see it like you. And doom and with doom I mean all the official and unofficial wads/mods that were made out of doom/doom II are the only fps games where the player has a kind of relationship to the enemies. We gave many of them nicknames and hate and maybe like them the same way because of their peskiness. They have more than less their own character and acting like they don't even hate the player but in the same way the other monsters who are not or even like themselves.😁 That quasi independency makes these games beside the excellent controls and the fast pace and fluent gameplay so special and still so much fun too play that I actually don't need any other fps.😊
@@tommy8058 Yeah it's true! Supersonic pinkies in Nightmare, pesky lost souls... Infighting is a great feature, which really adds to the quality of the gameplay. And yeah, if you consider the price of the official wads and the number of great unofficial ones, it makes Doom a very cheap hobby :-)
@@megasphere308 Oh yes. I forgot totally this aspect and to mention the wonderful community around. Look only on Eviternity. This game looks plays and sounds so beautiful and it is for free! And if you want more variety in terms of game play then try skulldash, the golden souls series, pirate doom or go for a different way like speedrunning, pacifist, tyson etc. Doom is maybe old but never gets old as long there are awesome people around who keep it alive by creating or simply just playing.😁
@@tommy8058 I discovered Doom in 1996 through the Playstation version. It has some interesting exclusive levels, like Threshold of pain or Club Doom. I really like the Mansion too. A few years later I bought the collector's edition for the PC. Then life got busy and I left it aside for many years. I think it was in 2015/16 when I happened to find BigMacDavis and his great channel. Last summer I started to play Doom again more regularly, and I'm enjoying it a lot :-) I started to play on Nightmare with pistol start, and also played Scythe (but not on Nightmare, haha). I'm currently beginning Alien Vendetta and the Way id Did. I want to play Hell Revealed too, Golden Souls and Eviternity. I know that there are many other wads that I don't know yet. I'd like to try Tyson runs too. I don't think I will need any other games for a while. The only thing I would need is more free time to play :-D
So there's two types of marine: *1. "Chara" type of marine. (Like most Doomers.)* Or, *2. "Frisk" type of marine. (Pacifist marine who choose to flee instead of fight.)*
