They tested this on Mythbusters. Had a sniper fire a blank, they watched for the muzzle flash, then had a paintball gun set up like 10 feet away that would automatically fire after the appropriate amount of time that it would take the bullet to travel. They got hit by a lot of paint balls. I think the conclusion was, you could dodge the bullet but only at a distance where you could no longer see the muzzle flash (daytime).

Man, I love this channel! The way Matt injects humor into his videos is so genuine. I watch a bunch of these channels, and other hosts’ jokes and senses of humor seem forced sometimes. It’s not like this here - Matt’s delivery is really on point.

The book I like The Destroyer series they don't dodge a bullet. What they do is that when the person starts to put pressure on the trigger before he actually fires the gun they move out of the way. They can see the difference in the color of his knuckle at the moment before he fires. It is the idea that once a person starts an action he can't change that action midway through. Actually you do tell her but only on the second Tuesday of a week or February 31st. LOL

Bad news, Matt. The speed of pulling that line attached to the dummy is at most the speed of sound. Therefore, even if you fired at the same time the rope was pulled, most bullets will hit the target before it even feels the tug.

I tried this with my friends with paintball years ago. We got hit a lot and it seemed like the successful dodges were just inaccuracies of the paintballs

Need to be closer to the dummy as the time it takes for the rope to pull is a factor

if you pre time it I think it would theoretically be possible because there's a timing window albeit small so if you were already commencing the move before bullet was fired it's possible to reach the exact boundary at which the bullet hits so any movement in the given direction would result in the bullet missing you. In reality though i'd say it's far too precise a time window to execute successfully more than 1 in 100,000 times and the only way to do it would be to pre dodge in the same way you would pre time on a reaction test to make it seem like your reactions are like 10ms. In that case I don't think that would constitute a dodge for the same reasom pre timing doesn't constitute a reaction.

You are hearing the sound thats coming back. So consider it somewhat half the time from the pop. Also there prob is too much slack in the string

You could have had one person hold the rope whilst the other sets up the target. That way they would have the perfect amount of tension on the rope, just ready to pull.

The sound would be delayed at the distance correct? Like have Roman the same distance back, fire and see if he can pull it in time

when you pull the cord... the transmission of the cord to the dummy is going to be at most... the speed of sound. A better one is if it is by wire or by radio... that is speed of light at most.

it's possible, but it's really hard to do. you have to dodge half a second before or move right before they shoot.

Have someone sit behind a stack of cross ties holding onto a target. Have them move it out of the way when they hear it at range. Easy peasy.

You know I got shot on the 4th of this month and I got to tell you it hurt a lot less than I thought it would so in conclusion take the hit and hit back harder. If you can take the hit and hit back harder if not don't get hit because no one wants to get shot it's not fun at all on the bright side I'm no longer afraid the pain of getting shot so that worked out

I'll say it is, if you can perfectly time it and the range.

Even if it wasn't a rope or a cable but the hardest metal stick you can find the pull still travels through it at the speed of sound of that material. Sorry the testing is flawed. Get a mechanical arm that pushes the mannequin with a remote control is it's basically the speed of light and test it again

Dear Mr Demo myth buster. Could you please look into cutting shotgun shells. To see if they infact make birdshot more DAMNING than a normal bird shot and even a slug. Of you could also try to explain the science behind it. So you take a shotgun of your preferred caliber, take the birdshot shel and cut it almost completely all the way around leaving about an 1/8" less thank you P

IMO only possible if you anticipate when they fire. The longer the range, the better the odds. Otherwise, on in fictional movies.

Mythbusters already tried this and you need to be at least 400yds away to have an actual chance of "dodging" a bullet. If I remember right.

If you have an extremely good view of their trigger finger, really good eyesight, or they give a physical telegraph that they are about to shoot, it's possible. Not probable, but possible.

The reason you can not dodge a Sub bullet is because speed of force when pulling the rope travels through it by speed of sound but Humans can not pull by that speed or move by that speed , so it is impossible to doge a bullet
