I test the SLAP CHOP painting technique and test different undercoats for the popular speed paint technique. I compare different gradient undercoats and the classic dry brush as a start for transparent colors like Army Painter Speedpaint and Contrast paints. Additionally, I compare the quality of highlights in different time challenges, such as 8 hours vs. 2 hours vs. 1 hour.

I haven't done a lot of skapchop, but I've found decent results with just a black undercoat followed by a heavy drybrush with white works well enough to get good results much faster than three separate drybrushing steps.

I would say the chalky/spotty look is maybe bc your drybrushing isn’t having a wet enough brush or too dry ironically. That’s why Artis opus has the dampening pad instead of a paper towel that dries out and removes too much pigment. Incorporating his technique changed my dry brushing game. I call it “elevated slap chop”

Yeah, I tried that in the meantime and I found out that this sponge technique needs a lot of practice 😅 My last tries look more smeared but less dusty

Hey mate, great vid. Not related to the painting exactly, but could i recommend you use some better lighting for interaction with the camera. You are a bit dark in the shot. Illuminate yourself a little bit more my dude. But as I said, great vid. Keep up the good work

Do you also use green stuff to "glue" your miniature to the wooden handle? (Sorry if i ask a little much 😅)

Oh no, these Handles are magnetized ... and so is the base of all my miniatures. So all minis snap to these paint handles. Might look like I glued then on, but in reality I just use green stuff to make the magnets stick to the paint handle 😅

So do you have "glued" magnets with greenstuff to the handle and the base from the miniatures? I dint expect the green stuff to be this strong or holding on to metal

Slap Chop 1) For one model to enter for "Golden Demon" an award , not the style you use , True 2) For a display case "kill team" or "Necromunda" maybe / maybe not , I say yes 3) For a 2,000 point WH40K army ? Slap Chop is a must unless your masochistic OR planning on skipping an edition like 10th just to paint OR your crazy enough to actually paint up a full Regiment / Chapter 3D printers and Phone scanner programs actually make this possible without spending multiple 1,000's USD on the hobby now Chapter = 1,000 Space marines plus vehicles Regiment = 5,000 Imperial Guard troops and officers plus vehicles
