My Mike loved my grandson Judah Judah and my daughter lived with us for 2 and a half years when my son in law got back to back deployments in the Army. Mike went from sleeping with me to sleeping with Judah in 2 weeks.he was so soft with Judah.And when strange looking solar sales men would come knocking Mike would go into protection mode in half a heart beat.get between my grandson and the door,Judah out side to play,Mike went right next to him.Mike left us 3 years ago still so sad.What a friend.
Depends on each dog. I have two Rotties completely different personalities. My female loves kids is very protective of them. My male not so much, they frighten him and he responds aggressively. Both raised the same, socialized the same.
@MrCheik23 yeah, and he listens very well .. Rotties are very strong but it's beautiful to watch how gentle they can be with kids.. plus the owner , I think the Daddy is there too... ❤that Rottie would give his life for his human brothers....
Well, play unsupervised can be an bad idea sometimes. An Rotty, like any Big Dog, got immens Powers. And as we know, Humans cant control Themself Everytime, to put this Duty onto an Dog isnt really the best Idea. Supervised and knowing the Kids and the Dog? Dont see any Problem. Even if He dont even want to harm someone.Out of Stress, loud Kids, not affectionate to small Beeings for Example, Someone steps in from behind his Sightfield(dont tell me Humans are too smart for such an Move), Dog goes into Alarm Mode, and Then pile blows up. And no, its not the Responsibility of the Dog. Its the one who owns(trains, social and familizied) it to keep harm from others AND the Dog.just my little Rant;)
I had two around my young kids but never unsupervised. All dogs have it in them to bite little kids dont understand the rules, re no starring pulling tails etc.
