The key advice is to be polite, smile and stay calm if an incident arises ... friendly and polite goes a long way in Thailand. Don't get drunk alone late at night in Pattaya, if you must get drunk stick with a few friends.
Pattaya is very safe but it's not as good as it was 10 to 20 years ago it's ok for a two week holiday but now getting very expensive and most of the Thai people do speak English but not 100% understand everything there are more men walking about now when it use to be more females and that's why it was a type of paradise and health and safety is just as good as anywhere else oh yes the Thai baht is very poor but prices have doubled for most things..
Very well done. The activity goes on 24/7, and daytime hours are almost always trouble free. Daytime is very popular with the older crowd, especially those who like happy hour prices. You don't need to be wandering around in the middle of the night if you don't want to.
Jay Bee It's very walkable. It's hot but I carry small day pack with water and snacks. I've walked the entire city between Sukhumvit Rd and the beaches.
Good video. Concise and informative. The only problem I had in Thailand was walking too much in bad footwear and getting blisters. Also, on Walking St, someone offered to sell us coke or weed. Needless to say, around the corner were the Boys in Brown. Stay away from drugs in Thailand (not Viagra, just the really fun ones).
Thanks for the comment. I didn’t make it to walking street, but I can see how the atmosphere in the city could lead to potential problems with the boys in brown.
Electric wires dangling in the street. Saftey is non existent here. Also, please don't pass traffic light 🚦 after midnight very fast, go slowly with caution as motorbikes or cars might cross red light. Seen many accident this way.
Hi Larry. He did a great job in front of the camera. However, I don’t encourage anyone to start a youtube channel. Too much drama behind the scenes. I literally receive threats of physical violence everyday.
Jeremy Clodfelter I believe you. But I cannot imagine how someone can threaten just because you're doing a RU-vid channel. If they don't like your channel just don't watch. Lol. Anyway I enjoy your Channel I will never threaten you LOL keep up the good work
What's up Jeremy... This speaker has presented some really great information here ( RE : Rules for knuckle heads ). Stay safe and vlogging great video's Amigo.
Jeremy Clodfelter .... Yeah I'm good Salamat po... Getting everything ready for Angeles city in September. So 40 + something day's and "A WAKE UP". ( That's military lingo for count down ). My Fiancee is excited for me to get there. She's fixed up our 2 bedroom apartment. Her daughter is so happy to have her very own room and her school is right down the street which is a great convenience for my fiancee. And like I've told you Brother the door is open for you if and when touch down there when back in the Philippines. God bless and stay safe Jeremy.
I'm Dominican. And I feel safer in PATTAYA than I would ever feel in my own country. I have been to PATTAYA over eight times in the last ten years. I have NEVER had an issue not once. I have been ridiculously drunk out of my mind , yet I have never been in any uncomfortable situation.
Been to Thailand for 5 years never had any trouble , a few arguments with the Thai girlfriend ! But you do need to be careful in the early hours in secluded places if on your own due to drunken Thai men or possibly drugged up Thai men then it can become dangerous if confronted !
I agree on all points except the driving. Yes driving in the highly populated urban areas isn't pleasant but doable. In the country side and rural areas it is easy IMO. Riding a motorbike is dangerous and should only be done with experience and the appropriate license. In both cases (bike and car) you should have an international drivers licence to show the boys in brown if stopped. Otherwise you will receive a fine.
Jeremy Clodfelter I have driven probably 20k kilometres in the last 3 years on holidays. Yes I have had an accident. It was in Bangkok, during rush hour, I was rear ended (small bump). In all likleyhood the person that caused the accident was playing with their phone. There had have been close encounters, none too serious due to others overtaking where they shouldn't. Expect the unexpected and that be aware others will do the weirdest things. I can recommend driving, it opens the country up like you wouldn't believe. Again have the correct paperwork and number 1 (full) insurance you will be fine.
Concerning the matter about touching/patting someone on their head, that's even disgusting in the educated part of the western world, I would pat or smack back, that's for sure.
...because he has it figured out; positive attitude, respect, kindness and decency go all the way in Thailand. Mai pen drai. Live it, and you will be fine in Thailand. It is a different world, one that most westerners are not even capable of comprehending due to insecurities, hypocrisy and ignorance. The west is a cesspool, and it is a good thing most have that negative attitude towards Thailand. They will stay away then, and that's for the better. Thailand is what YOU make it. If you have problems there, it's because of YOU not them, nine times out of ten. Great video Steve, you said EXACTLY the same things I say to everyone that asks. Although I don't find the brown cops to be so bad, but of course I haven't had any confrontation with them yet, since I'm not an idiot farang. Other than that, 100% agree with everything you said. Awesome. Now keep it on the low down so not too many figure it out and we have our heaven overtaken by farangs! Haha 😉😉 It's heaven if you're decent and respectful. Good work! Maybe we will cross paths my next visit, I am interested to know how you came to live there. Keep on keepin' on, enjoy life in Paradise! 👍👍🌴🌄🏝🏖🏞👣🇹🇭🌞
ive been to all 3 of them, good bars, good music and friendly staff, never had a problem in any of them, most customers seem to be from the uk as its a british themed bar with music from the 60s.
Jeremy Clodfelter It's like a Bar, with cosy atmosphere. Where u can have drinks, and order food too. You will also find ladies in there.. I know 2 in Pattaya . Marquee bar, british ownerd I believe. And Tong Bar.
In the UK during the 1960's you had Mods and Rockers. Mods listened to music like Tamla Motown, Ska, etc and wore smart suits and drove around in scooters. Rockers like rock music and motorbikes. There was a brief revival in the early 1980's of the Mod scene, and even today you get guys in their 50's meeting up in scooter clubs. So it comes from that scene.
Absolutely and this was a big oversight of mine. Thailand takes its monarchy extremely seriously (and why shouldn't it?) Additionally it is the only country in the world with Lese Majeste Laws still active. This means if you are caught speaking badly about the monarchy you could be jailed. Usually, as I understand it, Thais acknowledge that foreigners "don't understand," but if you come here you should always stand during the King's anthem in a movie theater, always show respect and basically utter no words at all about the monarchy or politics in general.
In Pattaya you can "get away" with shorts and a tshirt at a temple, but it isn't quite appropriate. Polo or button up shirt and trousers or jeans would be better. Always remove shoes. Never touch or climb on the Buddha statues.
That’s not me in the video. I lived in the Philippines for nine months. I’m aware of the danger. Please remember, this is youtube, not a court of law. People are allowed to express their opinions.
Haha...right?...I actually felt very safe in a taxi and riding the bus when I was in Thailand...Taxi drivers in Philippines are nuts 😂😂...I drove a little bit in Bacolod City and that was stressful enough...I refused to drive in Manila. I'm not sure who has the most car deaths though...I can believe Thailand having a lot of drunk drivers.
I have been to the Philippines twice and dated a teacher from the Philippines working in Thailand. I love the country, food and culture. The lack of language barrier can make it much more accessible to first time visitors to this part of the world- something Thailand cannot say. But on the other hand Thai culture is usually more unfamiliar and hence more "exotic" to Westerners.
This is a mystery to me as well, perhaps rooted in their history. They have no qualms about lifting their shirts to air off the belly on a hot day....even in a primary school. 😂😂😂
