It is not. Once, my Uncle paid a dealer through credit card for reserving a car But his account was either blocked or the password changed and he could not access it anymore. What ur parents say is right

At the very minimum, I feel that having a second credit card with a low limit to use for online purchases would make sense for you. That way it doesn't compromise your primary card that you have all of your preauthorized payments on. That is a big hassle when you need to update those.

AliExpress is a great site! I know many people including myself who buy off there. They are a huge site and security is very important to them. They use an escrow system with the merchants. You can use your visa there but it is very important to keep your aliexpress account password safe. Also the computer or device that you use to login and make the purchase needs to be safe so there are no spyware on it.
