Hi, Corrie. I bought your book. I found it to be so helpful. I am also signed up for Sinem upcoming week event. So excited to start this new year and make success happening this time.
I joined Medium some time ago but like you never used it much. Having watched you and signed back into my account along with paying the subscription fee. Oddly enough it turns out I have 112 followers. One of the first things I did was that I started to follow a certain RU-vidr from Canada who talks about Medium and writing using Jasper. Seems to know what she's talking about.😉 I signed up for Sinem's Writing Challenge. Thanks for that. I was planning to get started writing for Medium soon so this will give me the help I need. I have been looking at Substack. Not sure if it's the same thing but it does look like that have publications on their site if you're interested.
Hey Big Blue - that's awesome, so you already qualify for the MPP! And glad you signed up for Sinem's challenge; it'll be great 😊 Substack (from what I understand) is more of a platform for subscription newsletters - as far as I know, it does not have the internal audience/ecosystem that Medium has. But I haven't really used it myself, and I know of a lot of writers who have had great success with it. 😊
@@CorrieWhoWrites Substack is a newsletter platform, yes. I did a bit of research into newsletters, which is where I came across Substack, as I was looking to see what it is that they do. They have proven popular amongst journalists who decided to work for themselves, especially when their department were cut from their local newspaper. Many have ended up earning more through newsletters than they ever did working for the newspaper.
I don't know what to do Medium doesn't recommend me to anyone on the platform, I tried alot of things but It doesn't work. I'm new on the platform I have 7 articles. Please if you have any ideas about the problem.
Hi there! The truth is, it takes a little bit of time to build momentum on Medium - I can't say for sure, but I strongly suspect there's a "sandbox period" where you don't get any curations until you've written a certain number of articles - I noticed with both of my accounts that I was about 15-20 articles in before I started getting curated consistently. (This was back when they told you if your article was curated or not, they no longer do.) My recommendation is to keep going - 7 articles is a wonderful start, but it's just the beginning! Figure out who your audience is and how your content is helping them. Find publications to submit your articles to so you can piggyback off their audience. And I highly recommend taking Sinem's writing challenge next week - she is the master! Check out the link in the description box. I hope that helps! 😊
Hey there - with my alt account, I got to 100 subs in about a week. All it really requires is spending 20-30 minutes per day following other people and engaging with their stories, and you'll find that many will return the favour.
Hi Jesus - In general, I would say absolutely, especially as an author of non-fiction. You could write about topics related to your book and then link to your book in your CTA. As an author of fiction, that's a bit different. There are writers on Medium who publish short stories, but it's not the most successful niche. I'm not sure it would be quite as effective a platform for promoting a fictional book either, although I have seen it done.
