I think all content is ultimately about grabbing attention, keeping attention, and driving interaction. This will be my first month crossing $400 since starting in July and I think I'm understanding what's working. It's just a question of how to increase the output without quality suffering
Hi Corrie. Thank you for creating this informative video - you did a great job and I truly appreciate the time and effort you put in. I've been either following or writing on Medium for many years but haven't jumped back in as a full-time writer since I felt the platform lost its way some time ago - that is, too many people trying to hack the system or flat out scam people. But noticing the feedback on these recent changes have inspired me to dip my toes back in the water since, so it seems, Medium is returning to its "human" roots - something I feel that both creators and readers are yearning to connect with in these AI-infused times. Interesting to hear you say longer is better, I've been hearing that shorter 3-4 minute articles are the way to go these days. Guess it's probably just a case by case basis, but good formatting will help anything along. New to Medium tho and curious about the people that just post 1-2 sentences like it's Twitter, is that normal?
When you consider that a view only counts as a "read" if the person spends at least 30 seconds on your article, you can see how more in-depth articles would perform better; 3-4 minute reads are highly skimmable and less engaging by nature, making them less likely to reach that 30-second threshold with the reader. I'm not saying shorter articles can't perform well, but it has to be enough quality content for the reader to get something from it - and want to engage with it. (comment, share, clap, follow, etc.) Especially when you factor in that Boosting is mostly human-driven, it makes sense to demonstrate adequate time, effort, and thought in your articles. As for 1-2 sentence posts, I haven't come across those myself, 1-minute reads for sure... However, I believe Medium does not distribute content under 150 words.
Hey Corrie... The thing with AI writing is you have to personalize it to fit your voice. Also, do a bit of fact-checking to ensure it is accurate. Don't have monotonous content, edit it, make the necessary changes, and so forth. What is your opinion on this, have you tried this? Jasper, Writesonic, and a few others are fantastic to work with and it makes the time a lot shorter, although you still have to make enough changes to make it human.

I know at least some of them do. For instance, I've syndicated articles from my fitness blog to In Fitness and In Health before. But it may depend on the pub.

I don't think it's *impossible* but I would guess it's quite a bit more unlikely. Many of those with boosting power are editors of publications and they are looking to submissions to their pub first. And if you publish without submitting to any kind of pub there's much less chance of your article being found by someone with boosting power.
I just tried posting on Medium and a red banner came up saying something about rules, and now I can’t post. Is this because I’m not paying money to subscribe to Medium? Is this a paywall that doesn’t allow non-paying members to participate?
I’m being censored on Medium. I just signed onto my account to look at my stats and a red banner came across the top of my screen saying that I am under investigation or I have violated some rules. Okay, well then I check my messages - the banner follows me to every screen - but I try to reply to a message, and then an error message comes up, stating I cannot message at this time. Can anyone tell me what in transitions is going on? And who do I contact to fix this?
No, I believe any story can be boosted. However, if a publication editor has Boost nomination power, submitting to that publication can help get your article in front of the right people.
