Having just had to place a .024" shim under one of the lower limbs of my new bow, I really like the Accu-tune feature on the Athens. (it was either shim the limb - toward reducing horizontal nock travel - or place the bow on the burn pile!)
I messed with cams for the first time ever about 2 month's ago. The shims are a pain in the butt! Super excited to shoot and play around with the new Athens bows
I love that you are reviewing Athens, I’m really looking into them this year. As a NY’er, and that accutune, that’s clutch. Being lefty I have to rely on reviews. It seems like there isn’t a dump like the Bowtech that I have. Ideally I would love to get a vail and an Axxis 31 for hunting, but I’m a 27.5-28 inch draw and I don’t know if the Vail would be good, so I’m wondering if I should get a Axxis 35 and have it do double duty. The tuning makes life a lot easier. So far leaning to the 33-35. But I look forward to the reviews.
I have owned a vista 35 and a peak 38. They are definitely smooth drawing bows. Only negative thing I could say is that their risers could use some updating. They look like risers from 10+ years ago without any cages, cut-outs, etc. Risers could stand to be straighter as well, the reflex measurements are still pretty high on their longer ata bows. Won't find a better company to work with though, Jim and Tracy are as nice as they come.
Yeah I'm 27.5 and hate even on the vista 35 that I'm in-between mods I changed mods and the shorter bottom of the cam sucked with letoff compared to being at the longer top of cam.
I’m 27.5, they would of had my money lol. I used to shoot Hoyt at 28 but I don’t want to gamble on buying a bow I don’t know it can fit. Maybe they think a 35 ata would fit us but that’s really the only mistake I see Athens did this year.
@Angel.Custodio Given that they don't focus on "proper target", or let's call it outdoor target, I would agree that the assumption is that the 35ata is sufficient. I can someone agree because they have big cams but options are nice and they missed one. I wonder if they could make a short draw module??
Why not? Back when I retired, I bought a new flagship bow as a retirement present to myself. Sure enough, nobody else was going to spring $1500 for one all kitted out.
