I remember playing it for the first time, the base game felt overwhelming sometimes. But when the quests started running out, I basically said to my sister, well what am I supposed to do then?! 😂 I think it’s a lot, but coming from something like Animal Crossing where content dried up fast, I think that’s a good thing. Players just need to understand that it wasn’t meant to be completed in a week. Including myself, I’ve been guilty of rushing too. You have to just take your time with it.

They do need to try and fill the gap between endless quests and decorating. So far the only things I can do daily is feed critters, pick spices, talk to all the characters and check scrooges shop. There is an achievement to work towards to grow your tree well to full capacity if your bored waiting for the update. You have to complete 90% of the Dreamlight duties. I’d like to see more of this.

I started playing at the end of January, I still have a few quests to do, but not that much. Being on maternity leave, I played A LOT. I feel like some of the quests are quite repetitive sometimes which can end up being boring. The amount of characters and things to do was very overwhelming when I started playing and the game wasn’t as big as it will be in a few months. I feel like the characters should appear in a specific order once we are completing quests instead of being all available at the same time. It’s fun for us who spent a lot if time on it, but too much for beginners.

One thing I so badly want is to have multiple saved worlds instead of having to get multiple accounts 😭 So you can decorate it another way or other things. Like if you agree.

I hope they add more grind by increasing the player level and the friendship levels. That would give us more to do. We definitely need more grind and more things to do because I love this game so much but I just feel like I have nothing to do between updates.

I think it can be but the community is so big that there's alot of help and support. Plus those quests are gonna be a blessing when waiting on updates. Plus most can be done during the star path duties anyway when collecting. Also they won't have to deal with all the storage issues we had in the beginning because of all the chests and stuff they've added

I only began playing about 6 weeks ago and i was so excited and happy that there was so much to do!! It was literally like Christmas for me! Now ive done everything and I'm bored lolz

I started playing Dreamlight Valley at the very beginning when it was released and i am also now at the point where i just do new star paths or updates. And i also felt sometimes even in the beginning that it is "a lot to do" and i was a bit overwhelmed. But somehow i totally tried to rush through because i was so into this new world that i wanted to see everything it had to offer. So that might be the problem, rushing too much. The game is surely not meant to be played through in a week. In your special situation as a content creator with second account, i can understand though that it feels overwhelming for you as you kinda have a time set for it! On the other hand i have to say that i saw it in various games now (like Animal Crossing, Star Stable ...) that they make it TOO easy for new players. Like, new players have the same brain capacity like we had when we started the games earlier on. There is no need to simplify absolutely everything. New players are able to handle it as much as we were. It also felt a bit off to me personally, i dug myself through all the quests and stuff to do in those games and i was happy when i managed to fullfill the quests. Now i can just sit here and laugh about how easy it now is, the challenge is gone completely and i find that a bit sad. Hope this makes any sense at all^^

This was my first game like this and I started about a month ago. I have not been overwhelmed at all. I will agree that as I near quest completion, I wish there was more to do

Just recently started playing a few weeks ago. It was really fun the first couple of days, but after that, it became SO overwhelming with quests. The more characters unlocked, the more quests that pop up. I immediately got frustrated and burnt out because the quests feel the same every time. Mine, farm, harvest, grind, mine, farm, harvest, grind. It’s too overwhelming at this point especially since I can’t decorate because I unlocked SO many characters in such a short time without even having all the boimes unlocked. I have about 20 characters unlocked and still don’t have 2 of the boimes unlocked. Could barely even walk around. Too much in such a short time with no actual build up like you had. It’s like having 1,000 presents throw in your lap and you want to get through them all, but you don’t get to enjoy the individual gifts but for a very short moment.

I wish we could restart all the quests in the game and not lose the clothes and furniture we collected... That's the only thing holding me back to restart... Maybe if they implement an other way of unlocking all the furniture and clothing in the future. (I'm a player from the start and I'm getting bored)

Hi yes there is a lot to do for new players. We started in March & didn't have all the areas open when the 100 year aniversary star path started. I feel I rushed through some of the quests & opened all the areas before i was ready. My partner felt totally overwhelmed with all the quests. We both love it & can't wait for update 5

I have never heard someone complain about having too much to do in a game. Also, you’re not meant to “catch up” to anyone or anything. If people just play at their own pace, it should hopefully stay enjoyable for them. Content creators aside, I don’t think most people should be trying to speedrun the game. But to each their own.

As someone who pre-ordered which gave me access to the game the day before it became available for early access which people seem to forgot it's still in... it's even gotten overwhelming for me cuz it certainly wasn't at first but, from the CONSTANT star paths I have to struggle and scramble to get through cuz I only have a certain amount of time I can devote to it, all the characters I have to do missions for and level up, to the events and random missions they've added this past update which they've done once before which will likely continue, to the decorating I wanna do (and am never fully satisfied with), all the way down to just the daily stuff. It is A LOT.

I have the game on three different consoles, my ps5 is my main save that I’ve done everything on with 600 hours, and I have the game on pc and also switch and I’m working on getting those finished too but they’re so far behind! I just love the game so much and I wish more games were like it!

1st time playing it.... very overwhelming! Especially since the Switch crashes so frequently. Very frustrating!

I would love to be able to start over and just go at my own pace again. I don’t think it would be too much, just have to take it one at a time and pick your priorities. I almost wish I had started a little later so there wasn’t so much waiting around every month. Excited for the next update though!

I made a second account on my switch. And yes i can be overwelming. But that makes it fun. but i first did all the quest from all the characters in the village before i open the realms. So that way it is to mutch and open the different bioms one at a time and make sure that i do everything there before i open a new one.

I originally played on the switch & then made a new account on a PC because of that reason. (getting bored, being finished with everything so quickly). And playing on the pc i ABSOLUTELY got overwhelmed for a few minutes & had to solely focus on 1 or 2 character quest to not get overwhelmed!

I'm a new player. as a matter of fact, I got this game for my 9 year old daughter so that we could have a video game in common ( I usually play sport games, fighting games, rpgs, or shooters. My daughter usually plays games like minecraft or robloxs.) But we both are Disney fans, so I thought this game would be good for us, something we could play in our normal rotation of games but this game has become our obsession and I mean that in the best possible way. I played and loved Marvel Avengers, but the one thing I complained alot about was a lack of things to do that felt rewarding this game does not have that problem and I think alot of that has to do with the massive size of this game, which might look overwhelming but truly is not. With the friendship quest, unlocking new characters, designing/decorating our valleys, or even designing/decorating our avatars keeps us busy playing together and separately trying to take our individual valleys to the next level has kept us completely entertained in the few short weeks we have been playing my only regret is missing out on some of the earlier star path stuff we could have gotten if we had been playing since day 1, other than that we completely love this game and don't find it overwhelming at all.

I grind everyday .. when u know what to do its easy .. at this point I'm stacking now .. 😅gives me a break from destiny 😅

Every time I start a new game, I take my time to level up my characters so I don't end up with a lot quest at once😅

i started maybe 2 months ago and i did everything but Wall-E secret Quest to grow it was a bit much cuz i have a hard time reading but over all i blasted through the game now seens i dont have much i dont know what to do and if there was players in the game that may make things better i feel so alone on it now

definitely was overwhelming for me when i first started , i stopped playing bc i got bored w/ the quests. (i got the game when it first came out) but i started back playing months later so i could catch up on quests. i stopped bc the quests were starting to get annoying & i was tired of grinding for material. Now i’m back playing & jus unlocked stitch 😊

I just started to play this game not that long ago and at times it does seem a little bit overwhelming for me. I'm enjoying the game so far though. I got the standard edition and was wondering if I have to get the ultimate edition or is there going to be more editions. Since I only have the standard edition will I still get these updates that I keep hearing about? Plus, I'm extremely hoping that I'll see Snow White at some point. I'm assuming that I'll see Belle because I see her in the picture for this game.

I personally have been playing since day one and feel as though its too much like I stop playing the game every once and awhile because the missions overwhelm me so I dont really do missions anymore because its so much😂

I only started playing a little over a month ago and I've completed every task, except finding all the aliens from Buzz's mission. I believe I am on the last part though. I didn't think it was overwhelming at all and I quickly unlocked every character.

The game was the most interesting to me, at the beginning, when I had quests coming left and right.

It def feels more overwhelming if you're working on getting all of the achievements. I myself personally get overwhelmed by the empty space my valley has. I barely know what to do or where to start. I usually just try to focus on getting fences and pathways most of the time.

The bigger the better. It would be nice to have side quest or something to do while we wait.

So many people complain when stuff is time-gated (see: every time DL has time gated something), or when a quest requires way too much of a material so there's a grind (Minnie with the iron and clay, anyone?), but there are only so many ways to stretch out content for old players. I'm not a game designer though, so there are surely options I'm not considering. For new players (well, the ones that will come with FTP), finding some benchmark for when villagers' quests trigger so you're not drowning in all of them at the same time is tricky, even though it seems best for new players (especially in a game that has bugs so its not clear when time-gating is a feature or problem) Just feels like a lot of catch-22s in balancing the game that I'm not sure the devs are gonna be able to work out in a way that satisfies everyone

I'm planning on starting again when it's free to play. Going to play it on PS5 with free and seeing how well I can do with $0 investment. Completely finished at this point, but that's because I was stuck at home for a while. It takes a lot of discipline if one has any attention challenges, you can just run around doing fetch quests and not get focused progress. Really curious to see what it would be like to start from the beginning.

Great video! I have quite a few thoughts on this topic so this is going to be a little long. First of all, I want to thank you personally for helping me, when I first downloaded this about six weeks ago I ended up accidentally breaking my game by time skipping and your videos helped me realize what I had done. I had completed almost all the quests and was really sad because I didn't realize that time-skipping would break my game. After realizing how bad I messed up I actually just deleted my profile and started all over again! Best. Decision. Ever. Secondly, I definitely felt overwhelmed (and excited!!!!) by the amount of tasks when I started the game, and even though I played through twice, I basically speed-ran DDV. BOY do I regret that!!! I honestly wish I had just taken my time, the quests aren't going anywhere, and enjoyed myself. Because while it was enjoyable to complete quests quickly, now I have literally nothing to do ever. I have only been active for one starpath but I basically did a speedrun of that as well and also regret that. Lol. I got everything done in like 1.5 days and then had weeks of nothing to do. So long story short (too late), it's my advice to all new players to just take it easy. Enjoy yourself, explore the worlds, gather resources, decorate, etc, and get to the tasks whenever. Like yes now I have time to gather resources and decorate but without any quests to do it just gets boring tbh. This next update and starpath I'm going to take it very slow and enjoy myself! Also, one more tip, don't buy stuff from the premium shop unless you're a hundred percent sure you want it. I was worried that I would lose my chance to buy cool things and I wasted a LOT of my moonstones on stuff I only sort of liked (or ended up HATING, I'm looking at you whimsical companions). I didn't realize that these things would be offered over and over and over and over again as repeats in the premium shop. So if there's something you like but you're not a hundred percent sure, just wait, I guarantee you it will be in the premium shop again!

I'm kinda new to the game I just started it not that long ago bout a little before they started talking about update wife and for me who plays. It just a wind down at night every now and then the grind aint bothering me. I'm finding it relaxing and enjoyable to play it a little bit. He aint a little bit there. The only problem I have is sometimes I need. To? Talk. To? A character and when I get to play it to wind down. They are hiding in the house but that's not all the time just occasional. I wish the game had a feature to read stuff to you like in Hogwarts Legacy for those who have trouble reading like me.

I just started my 3rd game, telling myself to not rush, enjoy the process...lol My 2nd fresh start was after I purchased the game for my 9 year old g'daughter so I could play along with her. She can't spend much time on the game because of school and sport activities (RL)...lol, so I've tried helping her by getting coins and dreamlight, not the quests. Just looking at her game with a screen full of quests is VERY overwhelming! Unfortunately, I think she's lost interest and/or not her cup of tea, her friends play Fortnite. Sorry for the long answer, just totally understand how some could be overwhelmed. I'm trying to decorate as I play my new game now, something I haven't spent much time on and with my Valley so big, also overwhelming. So if I can make your Liveplays I will, would be fun to play along and watch.

I'm day 5 in and overwhelmed.

Got the game a few weeks ago and now basically having caught up and running out of things to do really makes me wish that the characters had further friendship levels OR gave you a small gift of some sort it you gave them a favourite thing. I love cooking and gifting things in games like this but you end up maxing friendship with these guys too damn quick making gifting them anything pointless. I just want more reasons to cook or find specific things really, too much stock of everything thing now haha

What’s good about all the content is that new players will not run out. People like us who have played from the beginning may feel bored with the game because we are all caught up.

I started playing sometime after mini casita came to the valley, and I can say for me, it’s beginning to feel overwhelming. That’s because I wasn’t playing the game as intended. I didn’t follow the quest log, and because of that, I’ve only unlocked mirabel, stitch, mother gothel, Ursula and scar. I finally took a look at the quest log and realized that there were things I needed to do in order to unlock others. So now that I’m trying to finish up the quests to move along, it’s beginning to feel a bit overwhelming. I’m still enjoying the game though, so I guess it’s not a big deal. I still don’t even know why I would take part in the star path lmao. I need to do my research more I guess lol
