Is It Worth Buying? (New Land Cruiser)

I currently own a LC 1st edition and eldoret blue ineos. Great 2 wagons for the family. Also had a defender and I can say the LC drives and feels like the defender but in theory should be more reliable. My father in law has a Sienna hybrid with 260K miles - all he’s done is maintenance. Runs insane

One of the last places in the USA where people have normal families with kids

@BenHardyCars man I live in bend Oregon and we are ready to get out of here my wife is a nurse and we have 5 kids together we have been together for 25 years and I'm 41 and she is 39 we are strongly considering Utah but we are unsure if it will be a right fit or if it will be a culture shock.

This ‘Land Cruiser’ is a nice looking 6th gen 4Runner except that it’s missing the roll down rear window and doesn’t seem to have as functional of an interior as the 5th gen with the load floor being so high to accommodate the hybrid battery.

Why don’t you buy parts and build the hole thing from scratch by yourself 😂

I constantly have been complaining about Toyota doing that with the Land Cruiser, but I have hope they’ll fix it eventually that it takes regular since they made the same mistake when they launch the FJ cruiser since it required premium and then they eventually fixed it

It's not required. The owners manual states it. Same engine as the taco which also doesn't require it.

@@CACressida no it does require it. The owners manual specifically says premium fuel. It does not say “ for best Horsepower ratings put premium fuel” . Yes, even though it’s the same as the Tacoma it requires the premium I literally watched a video. The guy looked in the owners manual, and it said it specifically.

The thing is, if you took the car back to the dealer, because you had a problem with it, and they find out it’s not running on premium. They could then void your warranty, because it’s not running on premium.

Full time 4x4 with all the off road goodies.

@@Fadic4 it has full time 4x4 but no locking rear, no sway bar disconnect or ekdss. It’s one of the reasons to go LC route.

@@sunchaser999 you’re 100% right. Does the LC have E-KDSS? I thought that was a GX550 feature only as of right now.

The Land Cruiser is one of those vehicles that's sold around the world. Toyota is not going to dumb it down just for one market.It's known for being an off-road legend.

@@c1aytonbigsby check the recent engine recall issued by Toyota for current corporate reliability concerns. This LC is an even more complex hybrid 4 cylinder in a smaller vehicle that has an opening price north of $75k. This is not your legacy LC. I respect your opinion, but, you apparently don’t respect those of others.

@@us1fedvetthe recall is for the tundra. Not the Land Cruiser. And that recall had nothing to do with the design of the engine at all, it was a manufacturing defect. People were so quick to jump on that but Toyotas giving customers brand new engines. There’s not a single reliable source that shows their new engines are designed with a flaw that would cause the engine to not be reliable. Toyota engineers all Land Cruiser to reach 250K miles with no issues at all and to think they didn’t do that with this one is absolutely ridiculous. It hasn’t even been out for a year and people are already saying it’s an unreliable hunk of junk with no facts to back it up. That 4cylinder makes all the power figures you would want in a vehicle like this so the notion that it’s overpriced because of the amount of cylinders is ridiculous. Ferrari makes v6’s to replace their v12’s and they are 4 times as expensive as this thing is.

The junk Toyota you are referring to is built in North America. The Land Cruiser is made in Japan and if I had the money I would sign the papers for it with my eyes shut.

I have a black 1958. Absolutely love it. The cloth seats are better than any cloth I’ve been in. The babysitting gadgets that watch your eyes and scream at you all the time aren’t there, and SBD isn’t on it, which is a gimmick. 10% more articulation on one axle just isn’t that important and introduces another failure point. I do wish I had all the cameras…. But I’ve driven without them for years. My first Toyota was an FJ Cruiser and this is definitely a nostalgia trip. I do wish it had 3 wipers. 😂
