Yes and if you’re not using a spoon yet you are missing out 💯😂🍻 Unless it’s full of snags like that spot… in that case definitely the XLS with soft plastics

That rod length is perfect now. It lines up with your elbow and works like an extension of your arm. Has me thinking about hacking off a few from my rods.

Do it with a dremel instead of what I did

Just subscribed to your channel. Great content! As an aging ( 54 ) lifelong surfer who surfs less than I used to and lives a stones throw from the beach ( So Cal ) I’m excited to get back into surf fishing more than I used to. I just purchased a 9’, mlf Daiwa Saltist surf rod ( my 8’6” Okuma mhf SS is getting handed down to my 10 year old daughter ) and I’ll be pairing it with a Shimano Sedona 2500 & 3000. Im also in the market for a dedicated Striper set up. Not as many Striper down here in So Cal but we still get em. All said, keep up the good work and tight lines🏄🏼‍♂️🎣🤙🏻

This is probably your best video yet Mr.! The relationship with tides is a fisherman’s best friend. Knowing the bottom structure is a key component when searching for those awesome exotic species such as Stripers, Halibut, and those ghosts!! That said, the next key factor is water temperature. Edward hits it on the head when he switches to a Crig! The fish see things differently than man. Yes the specific target species are lurking around structures. And the bigger predators need water to move to their advantage, but the BSP only looks for food. This means that the bigger BSP stick close to rocks when the surf is big and eventually move back to their homes on the giant sand flats of Guadalupe dunes for the summer months of near 60 degree water temperatures.

I watched a guy trying your technique yesterday. He seemed to get discouraged really quick as I was only going for perch and hooking up. It’s a great technique for Protected Areas like SB.

You should tell the Okuma Rep That this is the way these rods should be made👍🏼 I used to wrap my 9’-10’ Lamiglas Surf rods with that same size handle 👍🏼 It really helps when you are shoulder to shoulder casting of the rocks like at the Cliff House in San Francisco.

I'm curious to know if using any scent when fishing the flip-flop, gotem, or any artificial grub baits be beneficial?

What is a good size spinning rod and reel setup for shore fishing halibut?
@Hook2Cook
@Hook2Cook 2 месяца назад
4000 is fine. 10 ft rod lure weight up to 2oz

Which sinker weight is best for all around surf fishing? Im using 1.5 and i feel its abit under?
@Hook2Cook
@Hook2Cook 2 месяца назад
Depends on where you are and how strong your currents. Maybe step up to 2oz, but if you’re still having a tough time try a 3 oz pyramid sinker on a fishfinder rig for more of a bait and wait presentation because casting that much weight can get tiring
