LS tractors are excellent even when one forgets about cost comparisons. When you bring cost into the equation, it is a no-brainer. With a farm background and many tractors of all makes, I am on my third LS (moved from an open station compact to a cabbed compact and now a utility). All have been highly reliable and a pleasure to operate. Funny thing was before I bought the cabbed compact, I thought I wanted a 4066. JD dealers hardly paid attention to me at their shops and none followed up with me even though I left my contact info with them. I guess if you are not spending a minimum of $500K, you are just a distraction from real bottom line profit. My LS dealer knocks himself out having been responsive both before and after the sale. Go figure.

I am an LS dealer in Upstate NY. Parts availability is really good right now. Less than a 10 day turn around. Reliability is excellent. And while there is a difference between the JD and LS, you really need to consider the biggest elephant in the room. MONEY!!! Some customers will not even look at LS. But if you do, I think you would be surprised.

I've owned an LS tractor for several years now (see my RU-vid channel). I have nothing but positive things to say about it. My dealer has been really great to work with. However, he is closed on Saturdays, so on that one Saturday I needed a small part, I drove the extra hour to the New Holland Dealer to get it. While I was there, I walked the lot, and saw LS Mtron placards on most (not all) their tractors. About the quality of LS vs Kubota or JD. I used to be a JD mechanic. And like you said, they have their problems too. Most of the smaller John Deeres, including the 3039R, are made by Yanmar. And quality control is an issue. The LS also has many options that come standard vs the JD, things like the draw bar, rear remotes, etc. What you're paying for, with the JD, is the name and dealer support. I'll admit that LS is lacking in dealers, but they are growing and getting better. Kubota, in my opinion, is one of the best lines out there! My issue that I have with Kubota is that they KNOW they are the best, and they demand a price tag to match. Thank you for not slamming the LS brand. Many people only show the issues and negativity. LS tractors are solid. If they were not, the New Holland wouldn't put their name on them. I will do a video to answer yours.

Own a XR3135. Manual trans, not hydrostat. The 2 main reasons I purchased which I wish you would have noticed, is the heavy duty steel frame of the loader and especially the mount and how it attaches to the tractor. It is masssive compared to Deere, Mahindra and Kubota. My place is in the Arizona desert and full of rock. This tractor has been absolutly impressive. I have rebuilt the bucket once because my wife and I wore the bottom of the bucket out until it broke off. It now has bolt on cutting edge and 3/8" floor. The other as touched on, is the skid steer quick attach. I also have 2 extra hydraulic circuits which allow a skeleton grapple bucket on the front and still have 2 extra ports on the rear. I do have the better seat with arm rests and weight adjustments. I'm 6 ft and plenty of room, no sore knees from running all day. The only problem we had was learning how to properly do the ReGen. If it is not done correctly, it goes to a flashing warning which needs the dealer to clear. But I'll bet that is common on all this new equipment. Otherwise, I could not see giving $10k more for a Deere or 'Bota. This tractor is heavy duty, the others would have broke in these rocks. Thanks

A nice comparison. I bought a LS XR4155 W/Cab for 35000 with 3 remotes. The comparable JD was 53000. I used the money I saved to by a new grapple, new 72" rototiller, new 78" flail mower, and planter, and still had money left over. Everything works great.

Thanks for this comparison! We bought a Kioti CK25 around 2010 (we are in Belgium), mechanic gearbox. The tractor proved to be very good at work, both front loader and with rear attachments. But we had several reliability problems : fuel injection pump, synchro reverser, brakes and clutch early worn out... But the biggest problem was with parts availability and vendors. Currently, the tractor is inactive because we weren't able to find a mechanic to do the repair! (I personnaly run JDs 😉).

Excellent video. I'm a long time Yanmar owner. There are tradeoffs in buying the less popular brands but I've rarely needed parts or service so it's okay. It comes down to your intended use and available budget. If I used mine in commercial service, I would be willing to spend more. For small farm use, most all the available brands do a good job and provide a good value to the owners. And for what it's worth, sometimes a person just likes other colors to choose from. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

I traded in my JD for an LS about 2yrs ago. I have a dealer about 40mins from me. The service dept is what sold me on it (and that I got a lot more tractor for the price than I would with the other brands). I have never had to wait on a part (although I've only needed a couple) and the service dept is always more than willing to do a lot of research to get me the "weird" add-ons I want (like a float control for a rear remote). I've been much happier with them than what I got from my previous dealer.

Bruce Kennon Was originally interested in purchasing a New Holland and discovered thru research that LS manufactured the New Holland under the New Holland brand. I purchased a LS XG3032 4wd with front end loader and backhoe attachment. I have been clearing my land with the aid of Piranha blade attached to the front end loader bucket. Once I had a good understanding of the exhaust system regeneration process, I have found this tractor to be very reliable and productive. The horse power output of the tractor and backhoe attachment has been more than expected. I have also found the parts being very competitive in price. As with any equipment, a regimented maintenance plan is critical to the life of the machine. I am very satisfied with this brand tractor.

I really like your channel. I've learned a lot before I bought my Branson 2515h for my 12 acres. I just couldn't afford Green or Orange paint, plus I look better in RED. LOL . The lift capacity of my Branson (2200 lbs) helps considerably for removing stumps, especially with a 24 HP tractor. I also have 275 gal water totes I have to move for watering my fields with rain harvested water. Some of the more expensive comparable Deeres can't compete with that. My dealer is an hour away and a local place 30 miles away works on Bransons too. Thanks again for your channel and great info!!!

I have a 21' MT2 25S the operator platform is vastly improved. About four more inches of leg room and the seat is several inches higher. In general its a nice unit. I had a Kubota BX2670 for 7 years but needed more capacity without being too much bigger. I'm still not used to the side by side pedal but I don't like the totally above the floor treadle on the B, LX and L series as well as the small operator platform. I have aa 34" inseam so having your knees up in the air isn't fun. Loader doesn't have the finesse of the Kubota but at the price point I can tolerate it.

I believe LS is a quality tractor and is gaining popularity very quickly. They are an established manufacturer. Where I live there are 4 LS dealers, 5 JD dealers, and 3 Kubota dealers within a 80 mile radius of where I live. I have an LS and I have 2 friends that have comparable JD’s and I have to say the LS stands strong right next to JD at thousands of dollars less.

I bought an LS XR4040H in 2016, and have over 425 hours on it. It has run like a champ since day 1. The only parts issue is that the ignition switch is getting 'touchy' - it wants you to turn it just to the right spot, not beyond it - but even that hasn't been a real issue. Simple machine without a lot to go wrong with it and nothing has. Change fluids and filters when needed, and keep right on working. Just depends on whether you want to spend $10K more to pay for another company's marketing and t-shirts, or whether you want to use that money on something better. I ended choosing the LS (came with front end loader, box scraper, 6' rear mower, tires loaded), and also bought a WoodMaxx MX9900 PTO-drive wood chipper, AND an Alum-Line Dual-line Livestock trailer, and the grand total for all three was STILL less than what the green folks wanted for their tractor alone.

Very interesting. One thing I've noticed with the other brands is the SCVs seem to be sloppy. My brother in law owns a Mahindra and the loader is sloppy and everything feels cheap. As far as loader lift capacity, I'm sure the geometry of the loader has something to do with it, if the cylinders and system pressures are similar. If the loader of the LS is slower, it could have larger cylinders pushing that lift capacity up.

I have a 2011 LS S3010 that I've had for 10 years now. Its been a solid, reliable machine. Very happy with it. I see a lot of people online saying JD or Kubota is the way to go, that it's worth the extra money. For me, it wasn't a question of spending the extra 10k-15k or not. It was a question of getting a tractor or not. Budgets are not open ended, and getting a green or orange tractor instead of a blue tractor may mean you have to get a smaller machine than what you need, or putting off the attachments that you need.

Sure they aren't the best brand out there but for the price and features you get plus the warranty that actually is covered by the manufacturer you can't go wrong in my opinion. Good to see you cover more colors other than green & orange. Back in May purchased a brand new 2021 LS MT125 from a dealer 17 miles from were I work and 31 miles from my home. It came with the FEL and a pinned on bucket but the bucket was setup for the LS small QA assembly. I ordered the QA assembly, 3rd function remote hydraulic diverter kit, and brush grapple. Along with that I ordered the backhoe and bought a trailer for it all. Understanding that shipping on stuff coming out of South Korea is taking longer than usual, it took 6 months to finally get everything delivered to and installed by my dealer. It's been a great little machine and now has 112 hours on it. Overall I'm happy with my decision to go blue and for the money I spent I feel I got more than if I had gone green or orange. I put 3.5" BORA spacers on the rears before I ever did anything with it as well as put hard foam rubber in all 4 tires. I didn't go through my dealer for those but I have zero regrets on spending that money on top of what I spent to buy the tractor and all the accessories. Keep making quality videos in red, green, orange, or (my favorite) blue.

A big difference to me besides the lower upfront cost for a TYM, was the features included standard. As I recall LS was similar for the same tractor offered by NH. You got more buying the LS branded model. On the TYM it was a nicer seat, better 3-point arms, draft control, two rear remotes, larger flow rates, higher lift capacities both ends, prewired trailer connector, rear work light. Many of these features were not present, or cost significantly more to add on (the remotes in particular) with JD or Kubota. My only compliant is the slower loader speed (the cost of higher lifting capacity) and that you really cannot operate both at the same time reliably. That backhoe is the same as sold by Titan attachments. Which has Besko valves in it, a South Korean company. The width will be based on ag tires in the narrowest wheel mounting orientation. R4s are much wider.

I traded my 2000 New Holland TC45D for a JD3039R. I looked at the NH because I really liked how mine operated, but I also wanted a cab and the mid mount mower and the NH (or LS) with the cab didn’t have that option. One of my biggest complaints is the view to the front, which was way better in the New Holland. I find I have to try and look around the engine with the John Deere to just see where I am at with the loader. I never had that issue with the NH. I also miss that faster dumping with the NH. I keep thinking there is a problem with the JD and how it dumps. I thought that was interesting when you mentioned that. I’m glad your branching out. I kept thinking there are so many other brands that didn’t seem to be represented.

Good review. When I was shopping for a tractor early this year I looked at the big 2, the New Holland/LS and the Kioti. Then I stopped in at one of the bigger local dealers and they convinced me to look at one I hadn’t considered…Branson. 3515H to be specific. It was the heaviest, had the best loader capacity, but what I really liked was the mechanical simplicity of the non turbo engine that was co-produced with Cummins and the all cast iron rear end. The value and a 7 year warranty was also hard to argue with. I ended up going that route and it’s been an absolute workhorse in our property services company. Just land planed a shared community gravel driveway with it today.

I have a LS XR4145 cab tractor that was bought used and and it’s been a great tractor though dealer support is a minor issue. I did have to replace the computer in it which was highly frustrating because there were only two servicing dealers, both about an hour drive, and I picked the wrong one to do the work. All dealers are not created equal! Joes Tractor in Thomasville, NC was fantastic and I’ve done more business with them since. I’ve thought about trading it for a Kubota or JD cause they have dealers within 15 and 20 minutes respectively, but to get something in a comparable price range I’d simply have to give up too much tractor. I enjoy your videos and was pleased to see this review of LS.

Thanks for posting something other than Orange or Green. I've had a 2020 New Holland Workmaster 35 for a year now. I didn't realize until after I bought it that it was basically an LS with different stickers. I was actually disappointed for a bit because my New Holland dealer is 30 minutes away but I have an LS dealer less than 10 minutes away. I was also disappointed because I could have had the same tractor that comes off the same assembly line for about $4000 less if I would have known to buy an LS. But, after getting past the pain of paying too much, I've really had a great experience with the tractor. It's done everything I've asked it to do and then some.

When I decided to buy a sub compact for work around my orchard, I shopped, compared everything and talked to everyone I could who owned a sub. With the setup I wanted… loader …60” mm mower… pallet forks and box blade, it was not even close. $ for $ Massey was the choice for me. I have a Gator and a JD mower but couldn’t justify the the extra 5k a 1025 would have cost vs a 1725. To each their own but dollars matter.

My father in law has a New Holland TC33DA from 2004 and has been a workhorse. The only issue has been the temp gauge that has been replaced three times, and the forth he just added a separate stand alone gauge off the side as the one built in was so expensive and has worked flawlessly since.

On your loader comparison... For hydraulics and loaders there are several things that determine capacity and speed. Hydraulic gallons per minute determines how fast an implement works, hydraulic pressure and cylinder diameter determine the force generated. If you put fatter cylinders on your loader it will lift more, but take longer to lift. You could then upgrade to a bigger GPM pump to get your lift speed back to where you want it. The mechanical design of the loader is also a factor, e.g.. length, shape, pivot points, cylinder mounting locations. A longer loader might lift higher, but not have as much lift capacity. I'm guessing this loader geometry is the main difference you are seeing in the Deere and LS loaders.

I like my baby blue. Over a year and only issue was a broken set of loader valve ball ends due to them loosening up. I’d buy again long before the more expensive names. I actually own a John Deere and am what I’d consider a Deere man as well, and after looking at the 1023-1025 I didn’t like them, I also looked at Kubotas bx23’s and didn’t like them either. Wasn’t even about price, orange is my favorite color….. but when I sat on the ls, and crawled around it and stuff, I said yeah, this is laid out better for me, and I actually chose it cause I liked it better.

Would love to see you branch out and explore the other brands and maybe even different size machines within each brand. I have a Mahindra Emax 20S and only have a very small property. I find it perfect for my needs and significantly less expensive than a 1025R. As you said, there are some sacrifices to owning machines like Mahindra, Kioti, or LS. Things like the front loader, which on the 1025R, can be removed from the tractor without leaving the operators seat, is it a necessity, no but it is a pretty awesome feature, which you pay for in the overall price of the tractor. Love your videos and look forward to more comparisons.

I did a lot of research, including watching this video before buying my LS MT235e. I have been very satisfied with the tractor. With loaded tires it weighs enough to handle everything I have asked of it. It actually lifts more with the front end loader than the specs say as long as I keep an implement attached to the rear to counter balance the weight. Thanks for the informative video. I have the XR3135H TLB and I love it. The dealer that I bought the tractor from is about 1.25 hours away, but it is in a tax free state. So I was able to save over a thousand dollars compared to the two dealers that are 30 minutes and 45 minutes away. With the savings, I purchased a grapple. The XR has a more comfortable seat, with arm rests compared to the MT and XG. It also has two auxiliary hydraulic ports in the back too. Telescopic arms for the 3 pt hitch is a plus, and I love the tilt steering wheel too. The fuel tank is on the left side of the tractor, just under the deck. In my opinion, it makes refueling a lot easier to do. One of the negatives of the tractor, which is an issue with most tractors, is the belly is completely open to damage from rocks and sticks. I drove over a rock, and lost over 6 gallons f hydraulic fluid. On a side note, I enjoy watching your videos very much. My wife even sits down with me to watch you too, and it was nice to see a LS tractor in your video. Good luck with your new property, and good luck with your RU-vid channel. I’ve learned a lot from watching you, and I was watching you prior to buy a tractor. The reason why I went with the LS, was the financial savings.

Sod busting, tilling, bush hogging, gravel grading, moving trailers, dirt moving, fork work, moving hay bails, skidding trees… it does just about everything I need. I've had my LS XG3025H for 3 and a half years without a problem. Got a 7' hydraulic plow in front with a 7' grader blade in the back. With chains on the front, this thing is a snow eating beast. I skid out 60' pine and fir logs (up to 16" on the butt end) and it never complains. As set up, the LS was about $5000 less than an equivalent Kubota. JD was never on my radar...I have friends that have them and all I heard was complaining, mostly little things, but still. One wants a new LS after watching mine work. Thanks for the video on the LS tractor, Courtney! These lesser-known tractors are a great value for the money. If you have a reputable local dealer for any of those brands, you could get a lot of tractor for a lot less money. Unfortunately, many of the dealers simply carry the line in addition to Scag ZTR's, Cub Cadet, and Husqvarna, etc. so I'm a bit concerned about getting an experienced LS mechanic to work on them. A big Ag dealer that carries LS, TYM, Branson, Kioti, Yanmar, etc. as a side brand would make me feel much more comfortable.

When we bought our property of 11.5 acres it had a 54hp New Holland. It only had a loader but it was a beast when it came to lift capacity. It was 15 years old and was used hard and put away wet from the previous owner and was showing its age. It was too big for my property with numerous oak trees to maneuver around and hilly terrain. I bought a JD2038R and have been very happy with it. One of the things that drove me nuts with the New Holland was the dealer support which was worthless. That’s because they paid the lowest wages possible and couldn’t keep good workers. You need to check out the local dealer support before you buy. I ended up getting my NH worked on at the local John Deere dealer who did a fabulous job so when I was ready to switch tractors they got my first consideration.

Courtney, another great video. I said before, green paint is very expensive. As far as the lift capacity on the 3 pt, I would guess it is the difference in the diameter of the hyd cylinders lifting the arms. I am sure either will easily lift the typical attachments used for this class of tractor.

Nice review, when I was shopping for tractors , I REALLY wanted a B2650 Kubota, but I was also looking at the Kioti CK2610. As much as I wanted the Kubota, I just couldn't justify the extra cost for a smaller-framed tractor, and the L2501 didn't really impress me at all. I ended up going with the Kioti, and I can affirm what you say in the video. The Korean brand tractors are definitely capable, and they've made great strides in creature comforts over the years. If you're not too worried about resale value (I'm not) and don't mind that the fit and finish isn't quite Deere/Kubota level, you can get a whole lot of tractor for less money. Ironically, that loader on your LS looks IDENTICAL to my KL2610 loader on my Kioti. We also have very strong dealer representation where I am for Kioti, so I wasn't worried about being left out in the cold after the sale. You don't see too many LS here, I think the only local dealer is a strip mall parking lot dealership...

I am glad to see other folks representing their positive views of non JD and Orange type tractors. I was surprised getting into the world of farming and country living that everybody wanted gucci. I am all about function over form, a few less creature comforts aren’t really worth the price tag IMO. FEL and overall capacity of these lesser known models nowadays are so narrow. Their are so many options that unless you either end with my a lemon or just abuse the machine past what it’s capable of, they all should last a while and end up with just that many more tractor owners.

We use our tractor for haying, plowing, disking, road building and it's been a great tractor. Added the third remote for the rear hydraulics and it came with the third function already plumbed on the loader. The New Holland dealer has been pretty impressed with it as he wanted to see how different they are from the New Holland tractors. The NH/Case has a little bit better fit and finish and polish, but for $25,000 more for basically the same tractor, it had better be. The R-14 tires are amazing and I was skeptical of them when they first came out but using them plowing, disking and heavy dirt work have been impressive and their road manners are great and smooth
