Thanks for this review video! I've been eyeballing the Puma X for a little while now, but it was a bit outside of my budget... UNTIL just last week, my employer gave out a year-end bonus and I also received some money from Santa for Christmas, so I might be ordering a Puma X very soon! 😁

Holy damn. With a little help of modders decoupling the flight model of GTA helicopters, you could fly the way the Little Bird - Buzzard was supposed to in-game which is ANY WAY YOU WANT. 😂😎

@_MaxCaulfield_ Search videos from GhillieMaster Rebalanced series, he tweaked several vehicles in a FiveM server, and made the helicopters more unstable, even allowing to turn them upside down, very good series of videos. I think it would allow strafing, perhaps.

Good review, good info. I have a combo of Virpil and Thrustmaster and has put me back several grand. You bring up a great point about mapping in DCS, still trying to dial mine in. As an option/alternative to your setup: I bought the seat from MonsterTech and built a base out of wood for proper seat height and collective attachment point. Just an idea.

Is the MT a stationary chair? I can't handle rolling, swiveling chairs for flight simming.

@@daveg5857 It came with wheels that you can lock but I removed the lower half, got wood cut at Home Depot to make it more like the Apache cockpit chair (height and pedal distance, etc). I attached the collective to the wood instead of using the chair mount. I'll put a video of it on my chan el next week some time.

Have you ever used the Dodo Sim 206 addon for FSX? It's still best home sim program for rotorcraft I've used to date, and pretty damn close to the physics in the FTDs and sims I use at work.

0:00 Holy $#**, it's been 2 years already? 1:45 Lulu! :) 2:32 If only they'd add Force Feedback to the thing. Nothing would beat having a real force trim functionality on the thing. Would make it an ultimate seller. 2:45 To be fair, the last time I ever calibrated (had to or even was able to) a stick in Windows was around 1997ish before I had the first SideWinder 3D Pro. It's been a quarter of a century ago...

Ok this might seem goofy, but in the outer portions of your vr hud, the low-resolution sections, remind me of flying in Commanche 3 back in the day with it's voxel terrain. :D

Unrelated to this video, but i saw a 1 year old video where you did F-16 vs F/A-18 in DCS. Are you aware the F-16 flight model has been significantly overhauled to the point it kicks ass as it is supposed to? I'd watch it if you give it another go

So what are you going to do with your original Puma? Been wanting to get my hands on one of these for a long time but the $1500 price tag is a bit too much for me to purchase brand new and there isn’t a used market for them that I can find.

If you're trying to learn how to fly helicopters, absolutely. If you're trying to do helicopters, fixed wing, and other stuff, I'd wait for force feedback options to come out.

Useless video without stating which software it matches. "Games" use the Apache, these tend to be so stable that they don't reflect a real helicopter. X-Plane 12 is also a nightmare, so that begs the question, what software is suitable for Helicopter IFR training because simulators just fail incomparison to a real helicopter.
