If you're maxed with 500+ kc on every boss/raid and no longer enjoying the game, I don't think that's a Jagex problem. That's a problem of you burning yourself out.

@@elusivecamel You can also choose to not use max gear or some other handicap. Its a sandbox you can create your own challenges. Like the due who does tileman. It is ridiculous to expect content that an experienced, maxed player will still find "challenging" after a couple hundred KC. That seems nearly impossible to design (especially considering power creep... I mean shadow is so op its ridiculous).

They're mentally unwell legitimately sick in the head. I'm not even trying to be rude it's just a fact that these people only live for RuneScape and they only enjoy things that a normal person would think isn't enjoyable. They want the game to include self deprication to a level that is insanely unhealthy.

Just shows that he and players like him need nothing more than to stay the hell away from RuneScape for a while. They look at the hardest new content being released and see simple clicks. It's legitimately concerning. That is a level of unhealthiness that I don't wish on any player of any game. He has dumped so much time and effort into being good at OSRS that he sees these Awakened boss forms and can't find any challenge in them. I love OSRS, and I love the grindy nature of it all. But these people literally want the game's CORE GAMEPLAY to be only attainable by the upper 1% of players. It's ridiculous.

TBF TOA was released 1 year ago. We also had 4 years between raids and really the only two things I'd say that get close to end game PvM between that time were CG and Phosanis. I don't think CG in its base form is end game but Phosani is pretty complex.

I think you're confused on what he is considering high, medium and low level content. He would consider rune dragons, vyers, dark beast, etc. as low level content.

​@BasedPoliwhirl i mean. The only real difficulty to nex is gear switches, which is the only real difficulty at grotesques as well. The biggest difference is just that nex has higher gear requirements, and does chip damage.

Nex has the four mages, mobs that spawn mid fight, debuff mechanics, etc. Let's say you give an account with maxed stats and gear to a person who has never touched PVM before, and they ask you if they are better off trying GG or Nex, you would really say to them "both are about the same level of challenge, do either one"?

@BasedPoliwhirl i mean. Obviously they will do better at grotesques. But not because of actual mechanical difficulty, but just because they dont have as high a damage output. As for minions, sure i guess you got me there. The stat drain mechanic is pretty much ignored. And the blood reavers are also just a simple kill the add mechnic. While they have different mechanics, nex has easier but much more punishing mechanics. Just as an example of similar mechanics, shadow phases shadows and grotesques damage pools. The grotesque's damage pools are much harder to avoid than nex's shadows, But the shadows are easier to dodge. (No im not saying either are hard mechanics) Tldr. Nex is easier but more punishing if you fuck up. Grotesques are mechanically slightly harder, but dont punish you nearly ad hard for fucking up.

This. They also only regard it as easy after they've invested 600 hours into it the first week. They struggle just as hard, if not harder, than a majority of the playerbase despite having access to that BIS. They also tend to forget the roots of the game. It's not exactly a mechanically intense or difficult game to pick up and learn. You click and if you really want to get fancy you learn how to do some tricks with ticks. Coming from games like RS3, WoW, LoL or Starcraft OSRS PVM has been incredibly easy to pick up. As much as I genuinely find OSRS to be a better game overall. If people really want a difficult experience with runescape PVM they should play RS3. Sorry but it's kind of true. Having to pray flick (both between protects and soul split), use EoC full manual for high DPS rotations, hotkey their swaps, utilize defensive abilities, manage adrenaline, watch positioning and mechanics, utilize spellswaps for debuffs, turn trinkets on/off, watch their pots/buffs, swap between equipment depending on invention perk requirements and use stuff like bombs of vulnerability makes some of the "easier end game bosses" still insanely difficult in their standard mode. Kerapac for example has been harder than anything i've done in OSRS so far granted i've only been around for less then a month. I've attempted the RS3 raids as well. Which I did fairly well in but found myself stuck due to the fact you need to bring multiple styles with you. The only thing that needs that in RS3 are DK's and the Rex Matriarchs (Dinosaur DK's.) Otherwise you learn a style and stick to it. So that was just learning the difference between the 2 games. OSRS PVM has been genuinely fun because it's less intensive. I never played runescape to show of mechanical prowess. Sure I have learned to and often use single tick pray flicking even on slayer tasks to extend my prayer. Which is exceptionally sweaty compared to the norm. But is far easier to do than aforementioned requirements for late game in most other games. Like really the hardest aspect of OSRS is just making sure you have grinded out/can buy your swaps. IDK what they really expect from a glorified fantasy clicker game.

@@Meowthix gnome came from RS3 so that's probably apart of why he shits on OSRS constantly because he wants the game to be smth it isn't. OSRS is meant to be simplistic but with a charm, it can be in depth and ways to and have niche mechanics but that's all it ever will be. It'll never be as crazy as other games because it wouldn't be called old school otherwise. He's so out of touch it's insane

You dont even need to look at WoW to recognizd this either. Theater of blood.. the content that THIS MAN IDOLIZEZ and uses as the STANDARD for Osrs difficulty created an issue where only the top % want to play with each other for efficiency, leaving inexperienced players to play with one another, basically guaranteeing that you wipe and waste your time.. so why bother with it?

⁠@@SmolBoldehm no not really, we do raids is one of the biggest discords for OSRS. There’s thousands of people doing raids together everyday, me included, so no it’s not only “the top % of players”

WDR will literally teach you how to do TOB for free, all you have to do is go with a group and make it to verzik this is the only requirement to go with actual mentors, imo the whole raid is pretty easy until verzik that’s when it goes from 0-100 real quick

The thing is you can’t ignore people like this either because they do know the game inside and out and provide good insight and feedback but they cannot be solely focused on because they are the elite type players who have a lot of time to completely understand and practice the game.

Yup, this game is really, really hard. It takes literally months to years to become decent at PvM and more than that to get to Gnomonkey's level. And he wants big content like raids to only cater to that? It's like if that guy only running Souls games naked were crying that the game needs to cater more to him. ive understood gnomonkeys argument as him looking for content with good depth, hard mechanics and many different ways to approach an encounter, where many of the encounters that we have seen released really only have 1-2 ways to approach them. At the same time, gnomonkey is bad at presenting his arguments so people get the wrong idea. Watching him stream and talking about this problem gives a much more nuanced picture of his view

I mean, CG doesn't let you use any of your gear (unless you count rigour as 'gear') and it's not as difficult as a lot of PvM in max gear is.

exactly, the bosses almost completely appear to be catered to high end gear while its a really good struggle to finish it without high end gear. barrows barely scrapes by; I can't afford ancestral or crystal to down these things! yet here I struggle to get gear because my fights take longer, meaning more time for mistakes, meaning more supplies used due to at least prayer drain, meaning the fights cost more, meaning the sea turtle i get at the end is even less meaningless. add to that there's a performance check? come on, its literally favoring end game players and bots

Regular group nightmare is very approachable for mid game players, it's just not worth doing so it's impossible to find a group for.

i agree with this. ive been playing since 06 and maxed cb and cbf with the state of new content its so sweaty. why is new content like a nerd off to get kills. new content should be fun not sweat or die. and group fun is even better. instead they leave bis gear on these bosses so the .01% that enjoy this content are unbelievable rich. destroying the economy for casual players.

Depending on gear and levels, you should be able to start Toss entry at least, with lvl 50 being a great start due to having a decent chance at Fang and lightbearer still

its high end PVM for godwars level loot. Atleast make the difficulty worth the trouble. ive been playing this game for decades and been wanting challenging single combat stuff like this but the rewards just arent worth the effort. it does not feel rewarding killing these bosses.

Anyone can learn the inferno, you just have to put in the time to do it, im about to start my inferno grind in probably a few weeks after I get my prayer lvl a little higher, there’s plenty of budget/noob friendly guides where you don’t even have to learn how to 1 tick flick, the majority of people takes them months of runs before it clicks and they get their cape, it’s just that the majority of the player base goes oh it’s hard guess I’ll never get it without ever trying to get it, it took me 17 attempts to get my fire cape, never thought I would be where I am today and I still concerned myself a mid tier pvmer, I don’t have a ton of boss kcs I have almost 200 normal toa and 50 experts pretty much all my other boss kc is sub 100 except for a few, don’t have any gauntlet or corrupted done, but at the end of the day I want the infernal cape so I’m going to grind for it just like anything else

@amprae_7538 that's fair and maybe I can do it but I know my limits and it seems like that is one thing over my capability. I'm really bad at anything that requires 1 tick manipulation and I know this because I've tried in random spots around the world, whether it be for random slayer tasks or other bosses. I can't 1 tick flick to save my life, and if I can't 1 tick flick I'm pretty sure I'll run out of supplies before I got too far.

@@Amprae Even among high level players doing inferno isn't really fun. I have 8 kc but haven't touched it since 2019. I dunno how people enjoy grinding it non-stop but I guess everyone has something different in this game that gets their autism gears grinding.

Bit late but, you can do similar on your main too. It really depends on how people play. Like for me, of course I try to earn gp to buy upgrades, but I'll usually be doing the content that drops said upgrade to earn the GP, in the hopes of obtaining it beforehand, if that makes sense?

The singles bosses are cool. The multi bosses are dead content if you are a solo player, or it rot is bored. Rot had made calisto practically unplayable content for an entire month earlier this year, thanks to scouting bots.
