The answer is both yes and no. The karma we create is not predestined, but you can say that the effects of it are. But there's a twist, even if it seems predestined, we can change it by purifying our karma by doing retreats. One example is doing the 100,000 prostration retreat, but doing the retreat doesn't mean that we don't have to face the consequences of our actions; it's just that during the karma purification retreats we experience sickness, fear, bad dreams, and anxiety, which is a sign that all our past negative karma is coming out.

However to One's True (Self) Nature, is boundless, timeless & spaceless, thus karma does not apply to it. Hence, Karma is NOT pre-destined or fated to an individual, because the 'natural state' of the True (Self) Nature is unpredictable, non-deterministic or non-local, as a part-whole of the quantum-ic Universal True Nature of the entire Universe. Or in modern quantum physics - an object or phenomenon cannot be measured, determined or defined accurately - when there is an 'observer' or 'entity' trying to observe to measure or determine its real nature of the observed object or phenomenon. 😊🙏🙇♂️🌷
Thinking in worldly sense. Karma is an uncontrolled state of existence taking form since (from nothing to something or it can be from something to nothing again). So, the notion of "predestined" is non existence. Crudely, like a dream, there is no head and tail of why we dream. Free will if you will is like the underlying connection that can manifest and end dreams or karmic energy that is working unconciously but when awakened and made good can become a controlled state, free willing as the absolute truth with absolute truth.
Karma is not pre-destined. When we are in time and space, karma exists. If it is pre-destined, then life has no meaning because you cannot map or control your destiny. Then there’s no need to talk about enlightenment. It is so easy to say everything is due to karma. It’s like saying it’s God’s will, there’s nothing humanity can do?? 🙏🙏🙏
Karma is not pre-destined. Buddhism is not associated with predestined theory. There are karma/actions from previous life that may have a factor in current state but that’s not to say your life is predestined or determined already that’s not true in buddhism. There’s many misinformed theories here
The answer is it is predestined. The reason is that karma comes into play due to a person´s spiritual ignorance. That ignorance gives rise to situations in which they act in an inharmonious way giving further rise to energies that imprint on the person. That energy inprint then conditions future experiences or events that allow the energy to resolve itself and dissipate. In so doing the person furthers their spritual growth overcoming their ignorance and reaching a higher state of being. In sum, karma is predestinced from the seminal ignorance of a being which conditions events and experiences that allow it to grow. It is likened to a AI in that it is preprogrammed with challenges that allow it to learn and evolve.
