I feel Ken's Rage 2 downgraded the combat *significantly* in my honest opinion, and I played 2 first. In Ken's Rage 1 jumping/jump attacks which are great tools due to not being 100% guaranteed to be safe, it added a whole new layer to the combat and made boss fights feel like actual martial arts duels, since bosses also kept using them so you had to plan around that. A great skill-based tool that works against crowds and boss fights. The dodge mechanic takes that depth and puts it into a woodchipper. It's spammable, takes no skill to use, is 100% guaranteed to avoid all damage, and has almost no penalty (0 penalty if you have a 5-scroll nexus that makes all super moves risk-free by costing almost nothing). And worst of ALL enemies glow to highlight ALL of their attacks, even bosses! So no matter what you will ALWAYS know when an attack is coming, making late game boss fights go from intimidating and mentally taxing to complete jokes if you use your brain even a little. The signature move system was completely fucked in Ken's Rage 2. In Ken's Rage 1 you had to choose between only 4 super moves making it much more strategic and making it feel so much more personal. In Ken's Rage 2 you always had all of your supers available if you leveled your character even a little, taking even more depth and tactics out of the game. Then there's the leveling system, which Ken's Rage 1 did brilliantly and Ken's Rage 2 dumbed down and made completely automatic. Ken's Rage 1 had the meridian chart which had you, the player, personally invest in perk points and build your way towards unlocking all your moves and supers, it was so satisfying and once again more proactive. In Ken's Rage 2 you already have all your moves unlocked (and boosted as if you had spirit aura from Ken's Rage 1 permanently on) and you just watch numbers go up. Instead of a meridian chart you have scrolls that boost stats and can give you skills too. I hate this system it's so much more soulless and inactive than the meridian chart, and it can pretty easily unlock some stupidly broken skills, like the one that halves the cost of all supers breaking the game in half and removing all actual challenge until you intentionally remove it and handicap yourself to make the game fun again.
Yeah the first one was better. Like way better. 2nd game had faster gameplay and more characters and possibly longer story. The first game had slower gameplay but better mechanics and better story and battle damage and better moves
I like fries-Chris. Good man and also oh yeah this game is a big improvement over game 1 but yeah the Jp only dub arc of the Wairriors games was annoying and the issues are there. At least the game is soild and another soild review Chris!
Wow this game was so fun I got this game from Christmas and my old TV can not work I need new HD TV lol and I got the HD TV I played this game so many hours good times.
I'll properly watch this video tomorrow, but here's the engagement. I have to say, I dislike this game, it's the bare minimum for a Musou game. Dream mode is shockingly bad, as you said, I'm glad to check that I'm not crazy, maybe it got better eventually, but it doesn't. I got a Xbox 360 this week and I'm surprised at how good Dream mode is in the first Ken's Rage, it's like a proper Musou game! I'm ignoring Story mode though.
@@ChrisGildart I agree. The first Ken's Rage might've been flawed what with the small character roster, the easy Platinum Trophy and slow combat system among other things but at least it's a better game and an faithful adaptation of Fist Of The North Star compared to Ken's Rage 2. If we only could have the faster combat system of Ken's Rage 2 along with the legend mode of Ken's Rage it would have been perfect.
So there was a fist of the North Star game? That came out that played kinda like yakuza Right around the time like game came out. My p s four died and I never got the chance to play it Although I really, really loved fifth of the North Star. Kens rage one and two
It's a bit weird, but it looks like the game runs smoother on the ps3 than it does on the 360, although there's still sagging. But what was surprising, the game runs even a bit more smoothly on the WIIU than it does on the ps3 and 360. I think this is one of the most poorly optimized musou games I've played. But it's a lot of fun.
@@monsieurgautier5888 😂😂 du coup je peux jouer ce week-end stv on pourra déjà faire le trophée des quêtes coop faut qu’on trouve deux autres gens pour le 2e trophée C’est quoi ton psn ?
another excellent video! I'm curious how yo feel about the Sega made Fist of the North Star Paradise Lost. Its not a musou, its a Yakuza-esque game but still a beat em up.
