I really love my MK3… rocking it for a week now. I’m not a Maschine user, so I don’t miss the integration. I’m a Ableton and MPC user. I use Komplete ultimate and Arturia v collection al lot and I like the Komplete Kontrol integration. So far for me I like the update from my MK2 to MK3 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Nice video. Thanks. I'm interested to know if the new update for Kontrol Mk3 addresses the issues raised here. I have one foot in the MPC/Force hardware and workflow and one in NI Komplete/Maschine hardware/workflow. Given the lack of support for my s88 (mk1), Firewire mixer and aging MBP, I have recently bought an M1 'Air' and upgraded Live to 12 suite. Toing and froing between a Kontrol mk3 and an MPC Key61. I like the idea of poly aftertouch and if better integration with Live instruments is now a thing I will probably go with the Kontrol mk3. Especially if I can now form and save a useful template to use with Akai Force in stand alone for live use.
Hey, glad you liked the video! The latest firmware update only added MIDI templates, there haven't been any improvements in the Ableton integration yet.
This is exactly the content i need to see before buying the mk3! Currently getting my hobby room ready to use again to explore my maschine mk3 & A49 deeper. I love NI but i think they need to implement and update it for the display, thirdparty etc. even more. (I am sure they will) Thanks a lot again and you can go indept anytime like this because i will watch it... ✌🏻😎
Hey @LowHeatBeats - do you know if there were any software updates that enhanced ableton workflow? such as maybe some button combination to capture etc?
Keystage looks great. If you're not into NI's ecosystem it's seems like a solid choice. However at that point Novation's SL MK3 also looks pretty solid and even better for Ableton.
I hear you about the Maschine support, but honestly it works as a basic MIDI keyboard with Maschine which is pretty much how I used the MK2. I never really used the advanced integration that much, since the actual Maschine controller is much better for this. But I definitely agree that they should bring it back.
@@LowHeatBeats I do and i'll tell ya the MK2 and the Maschine plus is a awesome combo. But i can see the direction they are going with the Mk3 it's only the Maschine integration for me right now.
There is some way to control Ableton devices, I found it online somewhere and works. You have to add a Mackie control in the Ableton MIDI settings and then certain weird cc values for yhe encoders.
That's great, can you post a link to it? I think it's also not too hard to modify the control sufrace script to add it. But the point is that most users wouldn't want to bother with this, so it should be provided officially.
Seeing this video, I think this keyboard is really a bad Ableton controller. You actually never use any Ableton features, you just use NI plugins. And even when you switch to mixer mode, you see only "Komplete Kontrol" instead of channel names or the instruments that are assignet to them.
It can use some improvements but not that bad, considering it's not made specifically for Ableton and, like you said, the focus is on controlling NI plugins.
