That song didn’t win me over the first time I heard it, but I love it now. I was just listening to it on my way to work today! They definitely have a few songs that didn’t stick with me right away, but that honestly keeps things exciting later down the line. Sometimes it’s not until you see them perform a song live that you realize you had been sleeping on it
Btw J-Hope wasn't wearing braids in his hair in the Idol. If you look closely you can see its a visor hat with braided strings hanging from it. Because they are wearing traditional Korean outfits. And actually the idol is actually cultural appreciation because they incorporated traditional African dances into the choreography. And whenever asked they always say "Its not the Idol dance but the Gwara-Gwara dance". To the song having both traditional Korean sounds but also afro beats. To them wearing Ankara suits. Its as clash between Africa & Korean traditions.
What is the issue if they wear braids or what ever , everyone and their mamas had wore braids over the centuries , she is just plain ignorant or just don’t like braids in general lol
@@mev9752 Actually u are being ignorant rn dismissing the real historical reasons for her reaction 💀 cultural appropriation is real and a sensitive topic in America for a reason, a lot goes back to slavery then into assimilation and oppression after slavery ended so if u don't then just say that instead of calling ppl ignorant 😒
@@lilacbuniwell you need to know and accept that the world does not revolve around america...braids have been a thing here in asia even before there was any means to contact "america". Africans don't have problems with sharing their culture how come americans who stole a lot of other cultures are so wrapped with gate keeping something that isn't even theirs to begin with
A lot of people misunderstand the braids in K-pop. Traditional Tibetan, Chinese, and Thai braids have been around for centuries. As well as the traditional braids worn in the Buddhist religion all over Asia. I learned about this in college in an Asian studies class where the professor talked heavily about braids in the culture as they are often seen as cultural appropriation in America when that isn't the intention.
I told you guys I wouldn’t skip songs anymore I said that in the beginning of the video- I said from now on I will watch videos from beginning to end. No hate only love 🩷🩷
Army has always said bts always sounds better live i know first hand ive been to plenty of their concerts over 10 years and they always sound so monumentally incredible live.
I’m a 48 y/o husband and father of two. I’ve lived through 4 eras of music and i do have to say….BTS are the 🐐. The blonde haired member that you liked is RM, the tatted one is Jung Kook ( the youngest and the bad boy of the group ). The “pretty “ one with the high voice and dance contemporary is Jimin. Thank you for your honest opinion. You may not like some of the songs but I promise you that there are hundreds of songs and the ones you don’t like now… they will grow on you and you will like and appreciate them. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
So so true! THE ONLY ONE I was lukewarm about at first was Permission to Dance, and maybe you a tiny degree Yet to Come and Take Two but I like them all a lot :)
@@sc33h3o3Permission to Dance is obviously an end-of-pandemic song. Yet to come is an uplifting song, and Take Two is for Armies who are already sad they are in or going to military. Have you dug deep into the music and meaning of their other 300 songs?
Ah i can't say i wasn't disappointed that you stopped two song even before the chorus, because both are my favorites, especially just one day 😭😭 also it will be a bit hard finding new stuff from them as a group, because three members are currently serving in the military (they all will have to do it) so they're focusing on solo work and will come back as a seven member group in 2025
ERrr please just turn on the blasted subtitles/captions so you understand the lyrics. I know kpop has meaningless lyric's most of the time (not all the time but most of the time) However when it comes to BTS lyric are everything they are extremely important as they all have deep meaning. They'll be about their life stories, about great art and books, Psychology, Social issues, mental health.
Usually when i listen to new song, i will wait at least for the chorus before deciding whether i like it or not but this is personal preference. It's up to you. I've been introduced to music since the 70's but i've never bother to follow an artist or a group except BTS. I was introduced to them by my teenage daughters. In my opinion, they are not overrated. They deserved all the success they got today. BTS discography is extensive with multiple genres so you can't judge by few songs. But again still go back to personal preferences. If you don't like it, then you don't like it. Don't force yourself.
These guys can dance and sing at the same time they had practice by running on a treadmill these guys live is absolutely incredible and with live vocals as well they don't lipsync or anything. Im happy you checked out our 7 kings love these guys.
He has braids in his hair because it's in multiple cultures, not just yours. Geez, I thought I could watch a video without someone victimizing themselves, guess not.
Tattoo boy is Jungkook! He has an english single called Seven ft. Latto that I think you would love and this Friday he has a new song called 3D ft. Jack Harlow coming out :)
Answer: it’s not overrated. Not even close. For bts, as army, the songs we can objectively say are overrated (permission to dance, butter…) you can count on one hand versus the hundreds of songs they made/charted with.
@@liibanboojo1673 in terms of charting/sales/numbers, I don’t think bts is overrated, nor most of their songs, because they are unfairly cheated out of that exposure, reward, and recognition. But the big three English tracks, I confidently say, are overrated in terms of how much praise and attention they got that should have gone more enthusiastically towards the rest of their work. How many people discovered bts from butter, dynamite, and ptd? Most people that do, and listen to their other songs, constantly share the opinion that the rest of their work is monumentally better. I think those three are overrated. And it’s fair to say, considering what members themselves have also discussed was the purpose for those songs; and how releasing the English Three made them creatively feel compared to the majority of their other records/projects. Stop jumping down the throat of every person that doesn’t love every single song, it’s immature and unrealistic.
JK has a full sleeve, and on his hand. Has a few piercings and is affectionately called muscle bunny due to his strength, he boxes amongst other things.
@@WorldofSK oh he’s even better than what you’ve seen! Hell he’s done Live streams while laying in bed and flirting with the millions of us watching. And for real fun he’s first truly solo song will stop your heart, Seven explicit dance practice is just yummy. And his Dazed and Vogue covers coming up are mouthwatering
BTS was the first Kpop group I ever heard of (in like 2015 lol). They are the foundation and they are an amazing group! I hope you guys subscribe and watch the rest of the episodes to come!Make sure you check out the Bonus episode on BTS 💕 love ya
oh i'm just reading this comment, glad you can see they are amazing, even if you haven't caught their live performing/lyrics brilliance :) i think a must-see video that would've been amazing to include (in case you want to do a part 2) is ON Kinetic Manifesto. that video was recommended to me in early 2020 by the first BTS fan i met and i thought the title was weird so i didnt check it out. and then i discovered BTS around Butter june 2021 and i immediately watched it finally and regretted not checking them out earlier when recommended. it's the one i usually recommend first to people. :) others i'd say are mandatory for you are DIMPLE&PiedPiper live 4k performance (not stage mix version) Home (tonight show) Anpanman (citi series performance) Butterfly (has saved countless lives), Cyphers 1-4, "Run BTS" dance practice (not "Run" even tho that's amazing), and Dope. i'm sure other fans would add Fake Love and Blood Sweat and Tears you like RM so his tiny desk concert is recommended/sublime, his album grammy-worthy.
But what is your issue with braids ? Lol. Like I get you don’t like it then ( since you don’t have it in your hair ) but seen other with them make you don’t like them ? I don’t get it lol. What’s up with that with the music or you got a trauma with them. For example I don’t like spiders and even if I like the song I won’t watch a Mv of BtS if they have a big real spider there.
@@WorldofSK cause they are asian..many people still mistake they are still teenager while the oldest is 31 already...i bet when they are in 40s.. people will saw them age little bit
Just so you know, I’m not sure what you watched, but there is no official music video for Take Two. Sometimes people will make fan-made videos or fakes, so it’s good to check if it’s coming from their official channel or not
@@WorldofSK Army editors are AMAZING!!! Like we have Army that have made professional grade documentaries. One is called Rise of Bangtan, it's a 22 chapter series. There's also Taylor's video that was already recommended. BTS as a group have used literature, psychological concepts, etc as inspirations for their songs and album concepts/series and also don't shy away from addressing social issues and mental health so they've definitely attracted a different level of fanbase then may be seen for other groups.
"Does that one guy have braids in his hair?" 🤦🏾♀️ Girl, it was a headband thingy with leather tassels and feathers...and so what if they really did have braids. Black/African cultures aren't the only cultures that wear braided hairstyles. Native American and Asian cultures wear braids, too. You reacted like they were rockin bantu knots, cornrows, and box braids while claiming the styles as their own, i.e., appropriation. As a westerner delving into the K-Pop industry (it's an industry, not a genre and BTS are the exception, not the rule) there are going to be things you see/hear that you may not understand and/or misinterpred. If you continue this journey into BTS, ARMY will gladly answer any questions you may have and provide additional information and insight. Good luck with your channel. ✌🏾
exactly bro, that whole fucking bs made me like wanna turn the damn video off. especially since she has her hair straightened too. like the lack of self awareness and victim mentality is crazy
That is RM Kim Namjoon main Rapper main song writer and Leader with an IQ of 148 and speaks 3 languages fluently. One of the 2 Rappers who was part of the SK underground Hip Hop scene. You need to turn on the subtitles for BTS songs as the lyric's are extremely important. As for Black Swan it's about the fear of losing one passion for one's art in their case the love of song writing, composing, producing, Singing, rapping, Dancing even just getting up on stage. It's based on a famous quote by the Dancer Martha Graham "A Dancer dies twice, once when they stop dancing and this is the most painful death." The Shadow is a psychological theory about where we hide our dark thoughts our worries our fear and things we don't want other's to know about us. At the end the Shadow disappears down into nothing and disappears completely signifying they conquer their fear.
The one you kept pointing out that you like is RM, the leader of the group. I do recommend turning on the subtitles because they have amazing lyrics. They are also better live. They all have been releasing solo albums before going into the military, which is mandatory in Korea. 3 of the members are already in the military. The rest should be in by the end of the year. They will be back as a group by end of 2025.
1-Well, take two was made for their fans in celebration of their 10th anniversary so I get that it's not for you because it wasn't meant to be for new listeners 2- They still have new songs from their last album that are almost 100% in Korean (Yet to come, Run BTS, For youth), but the English trilogy of Dynamite, Butter and Permission to dance were made at the beginning, in the middle, and at the end of the pandemic so they were English because they were meant for the whole world. 3- I also wanna make it clear that BTS are one of the few idols that write and produce their songs (almost like 95% of their songs) and all the members contribute some more than others of course (mainly RM and SUGA) but everyone else does as well 4- The one with the tattoos is Jungkook, he now has a lot more piercings including two lip rings and tattoos. He has a full sleeve of them actually, this video is a bit old (Jungkook, the youngest member is now 26) 5- As a group they were LV brand ambassadors, but now that they're on a hiatus due to military enlistment each member is an ambassador to a different brand (some are to more than one), that's why the mentioned LV 6- Yes, V is one of the goofiest members but 2020 was really hard for him, he actually had depression
While they do have 3 completely English tracks...literally they're first track, We Are Bulletproof also uses English in the chorus so I don't think their use of English changed that much over the years. Life Goes On which was a #1 Hot100 song a few years is completely in Korean. I was so bummed you skipped Idol. I get it, the braids can be a sensitive topic...and I can't say I really picked up on the braids, but later in the video they are soooo owning traditional Korean wear and the meaning of the song is special in terms of BTS history...but again, I get it.
Braids are not just in African culture they have been around in Asia for centuries the same as dreadlocks not only being Jamaican culture, dreadlocks were worn in Crete, Greece 2,500 years ago so I find it quite disrespectful that you turn off their music video because of this. Can I ask do you like Rihanna because she used a traditional sacred Muslim prayer in her fashion show. All cultures are guilty of cultural appropriation but there’s a difference between appropriation and appreciation and knowing where those traditions came from.
Turn on the captions Mic Drop is a Diss track to their haters both to their general haters and to their old so called friends in the their old south Korean underground Hip Hop scene. Both RM and SugaI(aka) before they were BTS were part of the South Korean Hip Hop scene as well Known Rappers and Suga was also a Producer. Look at them now they are the most famous South Korean Rappers who are respected by the late great Coolio, friends and highly rated by the amazing J Cole, Warren G, and many more working with Nicki Minaj, Wale, Desiigner, Juice WRLD, and Lil Nas X
wow you're so pretty :) hey the true measure of any musical act is how they are live, and that's where BTS is head and shoulders above imo. Shawn Stockman of BoyzIIMen said that the BTS concert he went to was amazing the most energy he had ever experienced at a concert except for Michael Jackson. Writing while watching, hoping you're going to do some live performances and Cyphers :)
12:50 It's good you pointed out that it looks like he has braids (it's not the case, you can see it in behind the scenes that it's a stringed hat). I think in the entirety of Kpop, that BTS is the only group that consciously stays away from cultural appropriation. They're an anomaly in acknowledging their influences of black artists, paying for samples, working with o.g. hiphop artists and actually acknowledging black writers and musicians that work with them. The song IDOL is also just making a big joke out of "Kpop". Many people in Kpop said BTS started betraying their "Korean roots", so BTS responded with this: an uber poppy colourful song using both traditional Korean and traditional African sounds. Because "Kpop" is not even a Korean sound, it's for 90% influenced by music by African Americans but this is never ever ever acknowledge by the Kpop people.
Braid's are not necessarily cultural appropriatation. Their are many people around the world that have had braids in one way or another in their culture, now or hundreds of years ago, etc.... I know this subject is rather complex, I completely respect that, and I mean no personal insult, etc... but...No one person, or one culture, etc..., owns the right to wear braids in their hair. Just sayin. Honestly the quick judgement she seemed to make was a bit off putting for me personally. But its her video and her opinion.
They definitely did not understand cultural appropriation or black history when they first debuted! Fans were good at pointing things out and BTS and BigHit where very good at acknowledging the issues, educating themselves and making sure to do better. I think now they're a good example of how you can take inspiration and showcase things from other cultures while making sure to understand and respect it's history, sharing awareness, giving credit where it's due, showing gratitude and helping to balance the scale :)
@@xxxx-rx7co well, ok, you can mention all of the supposed "cultural appropriation" bts does and i can deny every single one or inform you that bts apologized for that and did not make that mistake again. So go on.
They aren't braids, but even if they were, there is literally nothing wrong with people wearing them. I don't understand what the deal was but okay. I'm glad you got to watch them. They honestly have A LOT of music videos that you could have reacted too xD. I also would agree that their stuff when they first came out is...a required taste (KPOP was really different back then), but the stuff after that era is just so great!!
fr like every culture ever has their own braids like tf is she on abt. like even the mf whiteys got them vikings. gatekeeping hair styles in it self is fucking stupid. youre not appropriating because you got a fucking haircut like tf. we all have hair right? or did i miss something where certain races dont get hair no more
If u are getting problem in understanding the song u should have used subtitles for it .😅 And in one u comment about styling ,right. Girl ,u should watch first because their styling is based on the concept, song and lyrics..so basically I want to say that first know , see and understand situation and thing they comment about it .. After that u showed some some respect thank u for that but I don't think u said that by heart because u were not also paying attention at time of interview too.
They DO mix English and Korean in their earlier stuff, especially RM who is the only member who has been fluent in English from the start. The rest have all been practising their English but up until recently it's been more a matter of learning lines than actually speaking English. They did Butter, Dynamite and Permission to Dance completely in English, I believe? And they are all "feel good", peppy songs made specifically to cheer their fans up during the pandemic lockdown. (From your reaction, you find yourself among the millions of people that it worked for. ;) ) They are lighter, very poppy, all English and a bit different from the majority of their other stuff. Afterwards, they returned to their customary playful mix between Korean and English - the rapline writes the majority of their lyrics, and especially RM is exceptional when it comes to rhyming and matching Korean to English in the flow. Their earlier stuff is more rap/hiphop oriented, but they have more recent music which still leans heavily in that direction. They also have songs written for and performed by only the three rappers, or just the four vocalists, as well as solo stuff, duets etc. When they had their debut in 2013, Jungkook (the tatted one) was just 15 - he turned 16 later that fall. The oldest member is Jin, he's a -92 model and five years older than Jungkook, and he was 20 when they had their summer debut in -13. (Korean skin care is world famous these days...)
The song take two was for army bts made on their 10th anniversary and recently all bts 3 members join Military according to korean rules all will be return on 2025❤🎉
Just one day is one of my favorite old songs of them , i hope you’ll give it a second chance, just let the chorus begins and you’ll get what i mean ✨😭 To like Idol you need to be a person who loves poppy songs, this one is a vibe 🔥🔥
I didn't appreciate it until I saw it on that one live performance where they're in the room. That's when it hit.. "OHHH... yeah.. there's a lot of layering to this song".
I'm confused...why did she skip the video when she saw that one of the boys had braids? Is it wrong for a boy to wear braids or something like that? Anyway, IDOL was made after BTS received a lot of criticism from K-pop fans who said that "they had forgotten their roots and sold out to the Americans" and were also criticized by the Americans because their music videos were "too weird or too colorful" so in IDOL they exaggerated everything for which they were criticized to say: "We don't care about your opinion" while using traditional costumes and other Korean cultural symbols in some parts of the music video and the live performances.

He literally had braids lol not an accessory but a hair style lol - I’m glad she stopped the songs mid way if they weren’t good in the beginning they won’t be good at all !!
@@ambersalling4703 It's literally a handband with yarn braids. Not attached to their real hair at all. Also even if it was braids other races wear braids you know that right? They don't seem to look like box or cornrows? So what's the problem. The music video also shows and give appreciation to a few African dances and clothes. But she would of known that if she finished the video. So in no way they were appropriating anything. Also how can you judge a song from the beginning?? It's been times I didn't think I would like a song based off the beginning and they became my favorites songs. You're just saying anything atp
Love your honest opinion but you should at least watch the JUST ONE DAY up to half for Armies its the olny full korean song that we can sing as International Armies The Boy you said you Liked is Our Leader RM ( Kim Namjoon) The pretty and cute boy you said Is Park jimin ❤ And they are not overhyped Only Armies know how much they struggle just to prove themselves in this World they came from a very small company and proved themselves in Western industry and Nkw are the Biggest Music band in the world and has The biggest Fanbase in the world ❤

There are 2 members that have mutliple tattoos : Jungkook (hand tattoos with the members initials and Army + a sleeve) and Jimin (Nevermind on his ribs, tattoos on his wrists and behind his ears + thr moon circles on his back). All the members have a friendship tattoo somewhere on their body.
I was really enjoying yor video, untill IDOL came up and you skipped it just because of the "braids". Like...what are we doing here? First of all, you just assumed he had ones and without looking up if those were ACTUALLY braids, you just turned it down. Secondly, so what even if he had those? It wouldn't be cultural appropriation. I'm sorry, but African people don't own braids. Yes, they did create certain types, but let's not act like the WHOLE idea of this hairstyle belongs only to Africa. There are literally so many cultures that used to braid their hair for centuries, so why are we suddenly not allowed to do this hairstyle? I'm genuinely so confused.
She left the song because she didn’t like the braids? Wtf that’s such a petty ass reason to dislike a song. Like you think black ppl the only ones allowed to where braids? Tf?
They do watch anime. They've talked about several, dressed up as characters and have even mentioned a One Piece character "Whitebeard" in one of their tracks.
I'm going to be really honest with you. If you want to become a kpop fan, you should listen to other groups, there are so many good ones. Great music, great mvs and great dancing. But with bts is beyond those things. Don't get me wrong, bts is the best in their craft, because they are also song writers and producers. What I mean its that the connection that army has with them is beyond that. We love them for who they are. They are gentle, caring people, amazing brothers, friends and sons. They are crazy, sassy, wild but at the same time like crazy smart and talented! If you are willing to go down the bts rabbit hole, welcome! You are going to laugh your @ss off, cry and sing like crazy! They are the best thing that ever happened to me, they maka me be my best version if myself every day! And in army you will find amazing people from teenagers (like how the world see us) to Emmy award winners, astronauts, lawyers, moms, grandmas... Okay first off most people who come in with a pre conceived notion good mix of songs but I noticed that you didn't have the captions on CMA not have been able to dive into the lyrics which is a very important part of bts they write the majority of their songs if not entirely in collaboration with the songwriters on their team. Honestly if you would like to get a better more comprehensive view of who these amazing genuinely good guys are I would recommend the Taylor guide
I think you should have listen that song which u skipped.Because they were extremely beautiful song that just one day in it they say if a person can get just one day to spend with the person they love... So it disappointed me that😢 u skipped it
Please turn on the subtitles on every song. Most of their songs have deep meanings. These guys are amazing and their fans are called ARMY, & ARMY are all ages. ARMY in our family alone range from ages 5-90. BTS love "ARMY" and write many songs for them, always thanking them. Without the subtitles you have no idea what they are trying to convey in their songs. Please react to A Guide to BTS: the Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari to see just where they began, the struggles they went thru & still do, & find out all about each member. They are ALL multi-talented, yet remain humble. They are not full of themselves like many people in the world are these days. My Grandma always said no one is better than anyone else, which is so true. At the end of the video you said you don't need to listen to any more of BTS. I am sorry to hear that, you are really missing out.
I hate that people think they can own a hairstyle... Like chill. My people did braids ever since like 10th century. I don't see any if us complaining about it. Y'all need to grow up, fr
12:56 Did she seriously just skip IDOL because Jhope had BARIDS IN HIS HAIR?!?!?! Girl I really liked you for this whole concept but please don't tell me that you gatekeep hair so much to skip a fire song just because of that? (Btw are the braids that you gatekeep called nordic braids because they came from the vikings so you didn' have the "right" to gatekeep that hairstyle to begin with, and it's not like their making fun of it or something, its an outfit choice an style! Wtf! Edit: I also saw another comment saying that the braids used in this video are traditional braids from different places and cultures in asia so that's even more embarrassing for you now (and for me too because I also didn't know about them, thank you for educating me fellow commenter =D)
What she was referring to as braids was actually just a hat. The single and double strands of braids are a korean style that Hobi and more recently Joon has worn. Braids in general are very common in traditional east Asian cultures.

I just wanna point out how weird it was for me when you to just decided to not watch the music video because you didn't liked someone's hair... Like, ok so you apparently only react to things you like. There is no point in reacting then. I just think it doesn't make any sense to not react to the full song, you already started. At least if you didn't wanted to react to it, don't put this small part of you say "oh his hair is weird, I won't watch this anymore".
Hi! I came back to watch the rest of your video! I really liked your approach for this reaction trying to find on your own their first song and progressing through the years to better understand them as group! Thus is really refreshing and different from other reactions 😊 and i really appreciate the way you were very respectful about their music even if some of it is not your vibe. I am not sure if other people already said this but there are a few thing that you should know about their official content: 1- official Music Videos (MV) are in HYBE RU-vid channel. Hybe is their company. 2 behind the scenes and dance practices are in BANGTAN TV RU-vid channel. Anything else is most likely not official content but there are a few exceptions 😅
You need to learn of the closed captions. Their lyrics are worth reading - they're very deep and meaningful. In fact, BTS is renowned for their lyricism. Thanks for watching. FYI_ they have grown and evolved over the past 10 years and just get better and better.
TAKE 2 was there last song before taking a break and military duty. This is not the video for the song... you don't know what you are doing. If you knew BTS than you would understand... check out the lyrics. You are going to be bashed. I warned you.
Question 🤔 what does his hair have to do with anything? You literally stoped the vid because of the artists choice of hairstyle which looked good btw but even if you didn't like it that had no bearing on the song itself so that was kinda messed up you seriously missed out on a great song because of one of the members hairstyle choice 🙄 unbelievably
I see you enjoy the vocals, I recommend checking out Seventeens and NCT 127 killing voice performances. I Also recommend checking out a guide to understand why they’re so popular and have such a loyal fan base.
