I loved watching classic mustangs race old minis. They overtake each other all the time. Old mustangs can't corner like minis but bloody hell they go well down a straight.
I ADMIT... Jerry has won me over.. I used to hate him when he was new and pretty much mimic'd james in every episode ..... But now that he has found his own niche (SCI-Guy) I respect /enjoy his content now. Sincerely a longtime #Donut viewer who's been #Converted on ol' #Jer-Bear ... Shoutout from #Bradenton #FL
I still think he has a long way to go. I don't hate Jeremiah, I just wish they would do a better job writing the episode. It doesn't feel like much is going on and he repeats himself a lot. I feel like I don't learn much of anything from watching his videos. Maybe a few new terms.
@@Brock_Corb my issue is the lack of entertainment value. we've been complaining about these videos since Jeremiah was brought onto the team. Why don't we see the complaints in the comments anymore? Probably because those people stopped watching, and I'm about to as well. I love Zach, Nolan, and James, but Jeremiah doesn't fit into the picture. From what I've read, too many people have not found him funny and the videos aren't very entertaining or informative. Nobody expects a college course, but the mistakes and lack of information we get here when Jeremiah continues to bring up the fact that he's an engineer is funnier than the lame jokes.
@@raynjpg Quite literally nobody is stopping you from not watching.. There is a big difference from constructive criticism and just flat out complaining. Idk what to tell you man... I'm sorry something you used to like changed and you dont like it as much now... Like i said in my original comment up top, I used to hate him and now I feel like hes found his niche and hes growing on me(slowly..). It may not be your cup of tea anymore but good thing youtube has just a couple more content creators you can discover and potentially like even more! Never know! Personally im sticking with #Donut #DonutMedia #PastGas #Podcast its about cars its not about farts! Lmao
weight is not a constant anymore, it does change on some cars. this whole discussion is far too nerdy to capture in a donut video. love your content fellas, keep it entertaining
Hope to see someone do a more accurate test with more controlled variables. It should be same make and model with same brakes and tyres but different weights and/ or power outputs...
You will see the exact results you are expecting to see. Although it would be fun to watch I guess. But dont expect any surprises or groundbreaking findings.
Reducing weight improves everything about a car's performance. More power only helps with acceleration (to a point) and top speed. That said, if the car in question needs to be street-worthy, there's not much weight you can remove until your car becomes a rolling dumpster.
What happened with Japan's use of lower mass vehicles was legendary; until they had to give up because of economics (the demand for more safety and bright lights and baubles).
Like he said it depends on use case. Hp/lb is a pretty good indicator of 1/4 performance as it mitigates most advantages gained from AWD grip. If youre on a autox/track setup then low weight would be more advantageous. But if you also have to daily that car you probably want a passenger seat and some sound deadning so adding power is preferable IMO. Same for larger vehicles say if youre towing but still want something decently quick. Removing weight will make trailer sway less manageable so adding power would work better. If its just a fun track car though definitely gut it.
@@buellb0y yes eficient, in a general way it makes the car more fuel eficient and normaly less power equals to more reliability, if you live were i live fuel eficciency is a priority cause we are robed every Kilometer here in Portugal one liter costs 1.7€
@@buellb0y Less eficent require more fuel, more fuel add more weight, which increase the need of power which needs more fuel that produce more heat that requires a bigger radiator which add weight and more air resistens. And so on. Efficency is important in a healthy ratio.
I mean it varies. On one of the most recent Carwow video they raced Chiron against cup winning F1 of 2012. Chiron having 1500 hp and the F1 having 600 something hp , on the drag race the F1 made chiron look like it wasn’t trying ( chiron was trying and im not saying its slow ) but on accelerating part in drag race 600 hp on 600kg car is unreal. In rolling race ofcourse even if the F1 is lightweight without enough power there is no beating 1500 hp chiron even if it weighs 2 tons. So yeah. Nice vid tho.
jaramiah : why can takumi beat a gtr in the downhill corolla? me who already watch the anime : weight and skill. i also somehow remeber that the weight of the gtr caused its front wheels to tire were and heat to the front breaks.
Saw this right after me n my old man were comparing the power to weight ratios of a hellcat and a mini gp 😂 (mini blows it out of the water if you were wondering)
Is the answer not just have a good power to weight ratio making each equally important depending on what area you are lacking in? (for straight lines) and for turns you need to adjust that ratio to optimize it with mechanical grip?
Nah for better handling less weight is all you want. Except maybe stronger chassis to eliminate roll and twist (strut bar/roll rage) and good throttle response.
This video sucks. He repeats himself multiple times in a row, just rewording the sentence. He needs some better writing or better topics or something. I don't hate Jeremiah, though I don't find him funny.
Can't lie, I really disliked him at first. But the more I see him hosting episodes and finding his camera personality, I'm growing to actually enjoy seeing him!
@@extremeencounter7458 it's possible, that kind of thing is known to happen. Remember the Lamborghini Diablo used the headlights from a Nissan 300ZX 😆😆😆
@@danielc9312 Lotus have always "borrowed" lights, switches, engines, transmissions from other manufacturers lol. Lamborghini did it to meet U.S impact laws and it was easier to use ones already complied.
"I think I just broke something" and the driver is complately unphased. This is the car community summed up. Your passengers more concerned about your cars health than you are
None i come across are like that. They all use to bitch when something go wrong when it bound to happen at some point with how much they trash it. Plus not letting anyone drive their car is a norm.
@@Serkix Guys who work on their own cars already know what's broken, so it doesn't bother them. Guys who have others do the work for them are more likely to freak out when you discover something is broken.
8th comment like this. We get it. V8 Miata bois have decent power, small tires, and a terrible weight distribution. Here's your trophy. It was a useful example, not an attack on your personal car, lol.
As entertaining as this is, I can't tell if this channel is deliberately getting the details wrong as a joke, or misleading everyone... "Power to Weight ratio" means Power divided by Weight, NOT weight divided by power. Google it - this is simple math. The ratio of any one thing to another thing, is always the first thing divided by the second. How do you guys not know that? And then the video is filled with captions of inverted numbers, getting "high" and "low" completely opposite to reality. You want to have a HIGH power to weight ratio - meaning high power and low weight... Oh, and since a world hillclimb record is held by a Fiat X1/9 (search for Manuel Dondi) that had less than half the horsepower of most of the other competitors, it would seem that when cornering and some braking (for those corners) is required, the ability to change direction might matter more than both - because a high corner speed means braking less to enter it and having a speed advantage starting the next straight, reducing the importance of acceleration. Another example of insane power to weight ratio is the Caparo T1. A road-legal car that has double the power to weight ratio of a Bugatti Veyron. The UK Top Gear appraisal is entertaining to watch (on RU-vid). As is Nurburgring coverage by Evo Magazine, where it makes Porches et all look like Toyota Corollas. Even in the corners, where it's light weight is supposed to make it weak. More likely is that the insane acceleration and straight line speed simply makes the corners feel relatively slow... when it is still the fastest thing in any corner by a gear or two.
