Next season won't be very different from this one. The only reason the other teams are closing up on red bull is because they have stopped developing their car many months ago to focus on the next season car, since the season was already won and their competitors are still bringing upgrades because they are still fighting for positions. At the beginning of the next season, things will be similar to what they were at the beginning of the current season because red hull will have many months of development ahead of all competitors.

I like your very logical perspective. Non partisan - is very refreshing! Thank you brother! i especially like your interpretation of that 1st corner disaster. Exactly. If you have sir lewis on softs, then.....? obviously it does seem rational that he was SUPPOSED to charge like mad at the start. The start is IT! so, indeed it looked like lewis expected russell to yield just a bit. but, who knows?

Thing is, Everyone knows that Hamilton still has another WDC in him and Russell is really not ready to be the number 1 driver. Mercedes just need to give Lewis a competitive car.

@@F1TechnicYT : Well, the way I see it is as thus: First Mercedes stuck with their concept, giving them a huge disadvantage under the "Our team doesn't make mistakes" dillusion. Then other teams saw what Newey did and started to copy RBR. Merc still stuck with their concept until Lewis started "begging" Merc to start copying too (even though this was said "We don't copy other teams because then we could never be faster than them"). This means everything Merc did was based not only on a zero-pod concept but also on the supension geometry (instead of front pull, rear push). This is also why the Merc can't handle bumpy tracks (they can't implement the anti-dive like RBR and now McLAren has done). All in all, McLaren has surpassed them and RBR has basically stopped development of the '23 car and focussed on the '24 car after the summer stop. I think for Merc to overtake McLaren _and_ RBR in the development race is just too big of an ask in two years (Hamilton's contract) and I don't think Lewis would sign a new contract if he has been driving in the third best team for two more years. Of course ... I can't see the future but I have serious doubts Mercedes will even surpass McLaren in the next two years.
