Are you thinking of travelling to Mexico City? There are many stereotypes and differing opinions on just how safe this beautiful city really is. As an American who now lives in Mexico City full time, I'll take you through what to watch out for when touring, and even ask locals about their experiences with crime. Thank you for watching, you're awesome :) New videos every Saturday.

Hola, I'm Nate. I used to not know any Spanish at all, and I had no interest in learning the language. I thought learning Spanish would be boring, a waste of time, and would provide no value to my life. Then I started taking Spanish classes in high school and everything changed for me. I struggled with learning the language a lot at first, but thanks to my teachers and my Spanish speaking friends, they helped make the learning process fun. Within a few months, I had gotten to a conversational level, but more important, I had become a more confident person. The real win for me, though, was the friendships I made and strengthened. I discovered that not only did I have higher self esteem, but being out in the real world with people, whether old friends or new ones I met, made me feel more alive and connected with the world around me. Now it's my goal to create videos that make you smile and inspire you to learn Spanish or another language!

Because spanish is the easiest language mankind has ever made up.For examle,in 2 years I reached a level so advanced that I got capable of understanding scientific and juristic texts word by word in spanish.On the other hand,I have been working around the clock to improve my english for 13 years but my level is still intermediate because the vocabulary of english language is like an ocean having no end and its grammar is much more complicated than those of spanish and other european languages

Such an insightful video! My family were worried about me going to Mexico by myself for 2 weeks in May. Honestly I found the people so welcoming they would always just start conversations with me, which was great for me because I wanted to practices my Spanish and learn more about the culture. Personally I felt pretty safe the whole time I was there. There were just a couple of moments, when I felt unsafe in CDMX. The rest of the time I felt fine. One was on the metro during rush hour. A guy was touching my bum deliberately and it was too packed to move. I think another guy noticed though as he asked me if I was okay and said as soon as people get off to move further down the carriage, where there were other women. But awkwardly I said “sí estoy bien” because I felt like I couldn’t say anything with the other guy standing right there. But tbh I’ve had some bad experiences with men on the tube in London and know I’m not alone. So think it’s one of those things that happens everywhere, unfortunately. Only other time I felt unsafe was when an Uber didn’t drop me off right outside my hostel at night. When I looked down the road that I thought my hostel was on a guy shouted something out me and I panicked because I remember you telling me the centre wasn’t safe at night so I took a longer route and went round the block and enter the street from the other side. I think he may have been shouting “viajero” which was the name of my hostel but I wasn’t risking it. But personally I wouldn’t feel safe alone in any unfamiliar environment at night.

9:00. This is what I always say to those who come for the first time, be very careful when crossing the streets, here the right of way is not given to pedestrians. Be especially careful at the junctions where there's turn to right since most of the cars do not stop, they just turn without taking into account if someone tries to cross walking

If you pay attention the people who seem to be from a lower class are the ones saying Mexico City is very unsafe, like the guy with long hair. I suppose your surroundings affect your perspective, because even though he has only been robbed once in his whole life he still says this city is "super unsafe"... I've been robbed once (someone entered my apartment while I wasn't there), and have had other stuff happening to me, but I don't consider this city unsafe. Of course I tend to avoid sketchy neighborhoods and I live in a fairly decent area. So... it would hugely depend on who you ask.

Really nice interviews. Mexico City can be very cool in the right neighborhoods. Roma, Condesa, Polanco, Escandón, San Ángel are really beautiful and pretty safe locations. Of course you can get robbed, but it’s not like criminals are committing mass shootings on the streets. The risks of being scammed are greater, however. Sad to know police can be such a burden for cameramen, though. I’ve been making walking videos of Mexico City since April and, fortunately, haven’t been troubled by the police. Hope my luck stays strong. Best wishes!
@dianabenavides2913

Those Neighborhoods you are mentioning are very inaccessible to the normal Mexican. They are extremely expensive. However, it's funny how you compare mass shootings in USA with petty crimes in Mexico both have the same share of terrorists. However, in Mexico guns are extremely prohibited while crooks own them at least in USA I can defend myself not in Mexico.
@dianabenavides2913
@dianabenavides2913 3 месяца назад
Also as an American with Mexican ancestry I can tell you that I have been all over both countries. I have left my car open in many areas around the US I can leave my car parked hike a mountain and come back and my car is safe. I would never ever do that in Mexico they will steal your tires.
